A giant monster rampaging around and fighting robots and sea monsters? What's not to love?

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-24-2013 1:00 AMoh, well. I guess I would have to say that Terror of MechaGodzilla got me to turn into a Godzilla fanatic. After that, I have watched all of the godzilla series (50's - 00's). Haven't gotten a chance to take a look at Gamera's series.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-25-2013 3:28 PMFor me, it was WPIX out of New York...they'd broadcast a Godzilla week every Summer...and one year, it just happened to be the rainiest week I can ever recall. I ended up watching something like 6 Godzilla movies that week, and I was hooked. I can't honestly hit one piece of the puzzle that got me into it, but I guess if I had to pick one thing, it would be the idea that there was this huge, hulking monster coming to destroy the city. You could see him coming from a long ways off, and you could shoot anything you wanted at him...but he was still coming. I guess that's why the 1998 film upset me so much: I was thinking, "Wait...Godzilla is HIDING???" Godzilla doesn't run. Godzilla doesn't hide. He stands there, takes everything you got, and then says, "Gee, that's swell. I think I'll step on this building now."

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-06-2013 11:10 AMHi everyone - new here. Could not believe there were other Godzilla geeks out there like me. :)
I have been a Godzilla fan since I was a kid and there were Creature Features on Saturday afternoons (showing my age....this was BC - before cable!). Then my kids got into Godzilla when they were young and here we are. Our family vacation is to GFest in Chicago every July.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-02-2013 6:25 PMIt all started when i seen zilla (the american godzilla) i loved it but when i went to video store to rent it one time i was confused i seen a different monster on the front and i was only about 4 or 5 so I didn't know better but it said godzilla on it so i got and i fell in love after that i knew this was the real deal and i said that american godzilla dosen't even deserve the title GODZILLA so after that i found out zilla was a remake so iv been watching godzilla ever since i was 4 or 5.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-09-2013 9:27 AMProbrobly Godzilla the series, the animated tv show that came after the first American Godzilla (which was way better by the way). I saw godzilla movies prior but watching this I thought it was pretty good so I got out my godzilla movies and watched them and then I was hooked on giant monster movies.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-10-2013 12:30 PMI saw Godzilla for the first time around 6 years old so 1973, I saw Ghidora, Three Headed Monster and I was hooked. What was there not to love about it at that age. Then we were lucky in the 70's to actually to watch movies on ABC at 4:30pm. There would be Monster Week at times and see a week of Godzilla flicks.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-10-2013 12:32 PMDestroy all Monsters was cool as it was like an all star movie. To see all those characters in the same movie was epic then.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-11-2013 12:53 PMI've been a fan since I was about 4 years old. I can't tell you why I'm a fan of the character, I just am, and I've never lost interest in Godzilla while other franchises I loved as a kid grew a little old on me. I can say, I remember clearly that my early exposure to Godzilla came from a show called Creature Double Feature that would air on Saturday mornings and often featured Godzilla films of the 60s and 70s and my parents bought me King of the Monsters on VHS. That movie and Godzilla 1985 were always my most favorite to watch, even though I loved the classics like vs. Mothra and Ghidrah too. I was born in '83, so I missed out on seeing '85 in the theater, man how I wish I could have. Sadly, the only Godzilla films I've been able to see on the big screen have been '98 (which isn't Godzilla) and Godzilla 2000, which is an ok movie, but it's not like seeing '54 ore '84 or other favorites. I'm hopeful for Godzilla 2014 just so I can see a good Godzilla movie and have the theater experience.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-14-2013 2:28 PMSimply put, when I was around 4 years old, my folks bought me a double VHS set of Godzilla movies, which had Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla vs. Gigan. I watched both movies in that order (leading to confusion that Mechagodzilla was before Gigan, until I started going around the net), and I've been hooked ever since. I kinda wish there were more consistent releases of the old Godzilla movies though, maybe not all 28 in one box set (The one that was released in 2005 notwithstanding) but maybe multiple box sets of like, 4-5 movies in a row, from oldest to newest.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-18-2013 2:15 PMI can remember when i was in Pre-K and on TV i saw a commercial for
purchase of the Godzilla: Final Wars DVD and boy was i so amazed by the epicness of godzilla! Later on in life my Uncle would come over to our house during cookouts and he would scroll through the guide looking for something to watch, He put on his favorite godzilla movie, Godzilla vs Megalon and i watched the movie with him. I was so interested in it that my dad bought the Godzilla Save the Earth game for me and him. he played it and so did i but i was like 5 or 6 so how was i suppose to know? I loved the game and in a store i saw toys for godzilla and their monsters. i bought spacegodzilla, destoroyah, godzilla, etc. And then i started watching all of the moives with my neighbor whom i spread this fandom to, and we would play with the toys (lol) and everyday we would just have fun with Godzillla. Later he moved away and i gave him one of my Godzilla toys in remembrance of me.........So now i am older and i have Godzilla Unleashed as a game and still the toys (damaged and missing pieces XD) and i cant wait for this new godzilla movie! Thanks for reading this post, i know it was long but i got caught up in it

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-25-2013 1:21 AMI remember seeing Ghidorah The Three Headed Monster on the old disney channel when I was a kid, that was my first Godzilla movie I saw and I've been a fan ever since, used to collect some action figures of him too.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-25-2013 7:26 PMI'm not really sure what made me a Godzilla fan and I don't really know if I can quite explain it appropriately. Probably just his size, cool sounding roar and his sheer bad-assness is what made me a fan.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-28-2013 8:35 AMHow could you not be a fan of Godzilla? The Godzilla movies where some of the first and best movies I've ever watched, followed by jurassic park. The fact that my grandpa loves Godzilla to really helps.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-29-2013 2:08 PMWhen I was 3 years old I used to watch Jurassic Park almost every day on cable television. I loved dinosaurs as a child. Then one day, I stumbled upon Godzilla vs King Ghidorah on cable (Yes, Godzilla used to be on cable in the good ol' days.) . Since I was fond of dinosaurs, I automatically fell in love with the Godzilla franchise. And that's basically how I became a Godzilla fan.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-05-2013 3:50 PMThe first movie I saw was Godzilla with Raymond Burr. I would dread the first appearance of Big G over the hill. But to be in a big suit and get to knock down scaled down buildings, awesome! My middle school students will say, "You can tell it's not real." My reply, "That's not the point." #noimagination

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-16-2013 9:14 PMI liked dinosaurs as a kid so when Godzilla vs Gigan rolled around my brain exploded. Giant monsters, destroying buildings, fighting each other, evil aliens, beam breath like a dragon! Came from the ocean. Boom! Instantly hooked as a kid.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-19-2013 5:59 PMWhen I was about 7-8 my parents let me pick out some movies and the 2 i chose was GODZILLA(1998) and Godzilla 2000. I loved them both since I was so into dinosaurs at the time. As I got older I started finding more movies and eventually gained so many Godzilla films. I now am a huge fan of Godzilla and love all the monsters introduced to the franchise. I have all movie but Godzilla vs. King Kong and Godzilla 1985. My favorite one so far is Final wars because they has so many classic monsters reintroduced into the millennium era of the franchise.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-19-2013 7:18 PMMy Dad had always loved Godzilla, and owned the movies (from the 60's and 70's) . (He was a kid when the bulk of them came out) So ever since I was little, he would watch them, and it captivated me. From the terrible dubbing, to the awesome action, and the fearsome foes, it was something that I continue to love now. I have yet to see Godzilla 2000..... My parents are a tad worried it will be too gory for me... Either way, Go Go Godzilla!
