I had heard this discussion a few months back. What I saw was that the aunt of the person who made the post, worked on the set with Gareth Edwards and asked him questions like "Will there be a sequel?" What she heard was that there might be a spinoff called "Monster Island". Probably fake, but it would be cool.

It was fake. A person who worked with her confirmed that it was fake, her job is just to cast last minute people for big public scenes etc, she does not have the status to be able to have such talks with the director and studio. She is very real though, but I'm guessing the guy who posted misunderstood her, she was probably just going off the idea that Gareth Edwards liked the idea of destroy all monsters. Yes it would be cool.
