Good Morning Evening and Night Ladies & Gents!

Im back! (nobody cares!)

and im here t ask you: what of Gidorahs, mothras and rodans origins in the new film?

Will Gidorah still be a mighty space dragon?

Will Mothra still be the mystical guradian of the faries?

Is Rodan still a pre-historic flying Repile?

Leave you thoughts in the comments below!

I'm thinking Rodan will be the only one unchanged.

Rodan could still have the same origin, mothra maybe it could be changed a little, and King Ghidorah's origin mmhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh maybe they could leave his origin alone eh this is hard.

I think there is a good way for Legendary add some realism to the monsters' origins without overhauling them. Ghidorah should still remain an extraterrestrial creature, but his true origin should remain ambiguous. He should simply be a gigantic destructive alien creature with unknown origins and no alien force controlling him. Mothra does not need to actually be a supernatural goddess, but rather a benevolent creature that perhaps is worshipped by a cult on an island in the Pacific. And in place of the Shobijin, she could have two normal sized twin women who act as her priestesses. Rodan's origin should be the easiest. Just a creature like Godzilla; a massive prehistoric creature that lived when the Earth was much more radioactive. But while the sea was Godzilla's domain, Rodan's was the sky. In my opinion, these origins update the kaiju in a way that makes them believable, but still faithful to their past incarnations.

Actually maybe they should change KG origin a little I guess.

Well the thing is, Ghidorah's origins have changed every era. In the Showa era he was a Space Dragon, but in the Heisei he was a mutant combination of 3 Dorats. In the Millenium era he was a guardian of Japan, with hundreds of heads, but just woken prematurely before they were all grown.

It wouldn't surprise me if they changed his origins in the egendary series too.

I mostly agree with The King of the Monsters. However, I think KG could/should be from space. It wouldn't hurt the movie for me if he wasn't, but I would like to see it. They could mix the Showa and Heisei era origins together. Make it so we bring back three micro-organisms from a space expidition, but when they are exposed to earth's environment or some radiation, they mutate. I don't know, but I would like it if he had something to do with space.

King Ghidorah's will almost definetly have to be different. Rodan's will probably stay the same. Mothra's.... I don't know.

I believe Ghidorah should remain an extraterrestrial creature, but his origins should remain ambiguous, representing a mystery that we cannot explain away with science and we can't hope to fully understand. Kind of playing upon our fear of the unknown.

1. I think Ghidorah came in a meteor in Godzillas time and starting killing other animals. He eventually killwd Godzillas mate, and Godzillas baby child swimming away and eventually to an ice biome where he is frozen but still alive. Godzilla then forms a grudge, and with the help of a few Baragons, bury Ghidorah deapdown close to the mantle of Earth and imprison him there until he breaks out.

2. Their could be other dragons like Ghidorah but have 1 head and cannot fly. They lay an egg which is mutated by a small space stone which contains unknown radiation, mutating Ghidorah inside and making him how he is. Upon hatching his parents imprison him in a cave and seal it. Ghidorah then breaks out and it follows from where he starts killing other kaiju from origin 1

Well both are extraterrestrial related, so those are my origins

@ Nerdybandgeeks. "In the Millenium era he was a guardian of Japan, with hundreds of heads, but just woken prematurely before they were all grown." Um, what? Hundreds of heads? I'm assuming you're talking about GMK and I think you're a little misinformed. He wasn't fully grown, true but it doesn't mention anything about more than 3 heads

MemberAnguirusAug-12-2014 8:36 AM

@Herro Prease

I remember reading somewhere that GMK Ghidorah is supposed to have 8 heads like a Hydra

The GMK King Ghidorah was a recovering Orochii from Japanese mythology, said to have 9 heads, but most were cut off by a warrior in ancient times, and in GMK, 3 have grown back. Also, I'd say that a good way to tie in Godzilla: Awakening would be for King Ghidorah to have arrived in the Permian meteor.

The King of the Monsters

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-12-2014 9:37 AM

Look, there's no truly realistic way to explain a giant three-headed golden dragon. Simply making him a destructive creature that arrives from outer space with no explanation is probably the best way to put him in the movie and still keep him somewhat grounded. I do agree that making him already have arrived in the Permian meteor would be a good plot device. It would make him a character foil for Godzilla. While Godzilla exists to retain the balance of nature, Ghidorah exists to disrupt it.

Everyone - Guys there is no way that ghidorah is gonna come from space. Gareth is trying to keep this dark and realistic. And that would change the whole set up. I think maybe if they change the Hesei one up a bit than it could work. But no space monster crap.

I think they will keep Rodan's origin the same. Idk what they will do with mothra, they would have to take away the whole God and fairy thing. But they could have a cult lead by twin sisters (regular size) to represent The Fairys and mothra would probably be a Mutant or a be creature from the dino age like the mutos. Ghidorah will have to change BIG time. I think maybe he could be a creature that is related to snakes, and is a one head dragon like creature. But if you guys watch those animal shows where the snakes grown 3 or 2 heads instead of one. I think he had that happen to him where his type of animal is suppost to have one head but he grows to 3 heads instead.

But there are problems with that as well, High Flyers Tag Team.

There is no truly logical way for King Ghidorah to exist at all. Mutations? Not really, since the heads are very clearly formed that way. Space? At least we have evidence of life out there, and coming to Earth not on purpose could help. Evolved on Earth itself? Not paying much homage to the general idea people get about King Ghidorah in the first place, and it's much less feasible than the M.U.T.O.s to have.

Really, a bit of a combination or various origin points seems best to me. The creature came to Earth by way of a meteor, originally had a mutation in its species' evolution that caused three heads which eventually became a regular feature, and when it landed on Earth, it consumed radiation that allowed it to evolve further.

I don't know why people think making Ghidorah a space monster is so unrealistic. Look at Man of Steel. It was a grounded and dark reboot of Superman (though people's opinions of the film itself may vary) and it focused heavily on the concept of alien life. I think that if Ghidorah is going to be from space, they should give no further information on his origin. We don't know what he is, where he came from, or why he does what he does. We know very little about what lies beyond our solar system, and Ghidorah could be based on this fact. Besides, it's not like the concept of giant monsters running around is that realistic anyway.

Two things

1. Did you guys even read my snake idea?

2.Yes THE KING OF THE MONSTERS your right about man of steel. But they said they want this series to be like the dark night trilogy not man of steel. And even though man of steel was dark, it was not realistic. So thats what I'm saying. Its gotta be realistic. "I don't know why people think making Ghidorah a space monster is so unrealistic" Because theres no such thing as a space creature and if they did the space orgin it would turn the movie into a more sci-fed the Realistic movie.

There's no such thing as a 355-foot giant reptile that feeds on radiation that has survived since the cretaceous either, and that didn't stop Gareth. Besides, we don't actually know if there is alien life, so for all we know a creature like Ghidorah could exist in the far reaches of the galaxy.

There already is alien life in the form of bacteria, and we know they can arrive on planets via meteors. None of what Godzilla and the M.U.T.O.s are is realistic, but rather shown in a "realistic light" by applying specific realistic elements to them. The same can go for King Ghidorah, Mothra, and Rodan. Don't make the concepts themselves realistic, as I always say. That would be the death of them.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-12-2014 10:13 AM

Gareth changed his orgin to make him MORE realistic. Your right godzilla is not realistic. But he was trying to keep it to source Material while at the same time trying to keep it realistic. I really wish Gareth had a account on here and he would tell you the same thing. Space creatures make a film super sci-fed. Let him live and grow on earth and not be a space creature while doing my orgin at the same time would make it more realistic.

The king of the monsters. Godzilla is not a reptile. If anything he is a amphibian! Reptiles dont breathe underwater and dont have gills! Thats a fatal flaw in your arguement!

Good grief.

TheGMan123

MemberTitanosaurusAug-12-2014 10:27 AM

Just because space is involved doesn't undermine the 'realistic" aspects as much as you say. I'd say keep space, but not make it as big of an issue. And why is your way so much more realistic? If anything, it's a little bit less realistic, because mutations like that are hardly able to live at all. However, that's an issue on Earth. For all we know, having three heads is normal in an alien enviornment.

I don't see what your issue with space is. I think space would actually be more realistic, because then you have room to experiment with concepts that seem too much for even Earth, such as the aformentioned three heads. Honestly, why can't we have a combination of origins? Initially evolves in space to get the weird features, comes to Earth by way of meteor travel, and then finds the resources of Earth to be useful to further evolve.

Godzilla is and always has been a type of reptile. A prehistoric amhibious reptile in this case, but still a reptile.

I think having Ghidorah coming to Earth in meteor form during Godzilla's time and slumbering works best, as well as him being Godzilla's absolute adversary. Godzilla keeps balance, and Ghidorah disrupts it. His existence should be linked to various dragon sightings. Also, mutation is just a silly idea. Size doesn't really equate to believability, but mutation is just too Sci-fi for the masses, and me.

Godzilla looks more like a amphibian then a reptile. This is a reptile

He looks the most like a croodile if anything reptillian. Godzilla the original looks like a dragon if anything! Not a reptile. If we are using legendarygoji no reptile has gillis

Understand and i would like some proof of Godzilla being a type of reptile? where is this from!

Good grief.

TheGMan123

@GorillaGodzilla77897

Well, I have my own theory. If Godzilla is so old, isn't it possible that perhaps he's a completely uniquely evolved creature? Maybe his species evolved from fish, into amphibian-like creatures, into reptilian-esque creatures we see now, but never lost the gills.

The King of the Monsters

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-12-2014 11:07 AM

Besides, 2014 is the only movie so far where Godzilla has had gills. In the Heisei series, they explicitly showed that Godzilla was a kind of dinosaur, which is a reptile.

High Flyers,
I think you're assuming what you find realistic and dark, (which they never said it was supposed to be as dark as The Dark Knight trilogy. Ever.) or what you percieved as realisitic, can't include the alien origin.

The fact is the Heisei origin of King Ghidorah is light years more ludicrous than King Ghidorah's space origin. The reason his space origin still works is because the Showa series never explains how he was created. He's kept ambiguous and as a result his origin is far creepier because no one knows where he came from, how he was created or why he's on Earth. He was simply a mindless killing machine. Maintaining that level of vagary around an insane monster would instill a sort of supremecy about his on-screen presence which would make an enemy not even Godzilla understands.

The idea, everyone, isn't to make something realistic. It's to make something effective for the story. How you write it affects the levels of realism. (Besides, King Ghidorah's Showa origin has always been the best.)
