MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:02 PMI can't help but notice an incredible lack of originality from a lot of people I've run into, some fans and some not. "I can't wait for king ghidorah" or something of that effect. On its own you probably wouldn't think much of it - just obvious cravings for some fan favorite kaiju cameos right? But after a certain point it's like all I hear. Do we really need to rehash the same old monsters, AGAIN? There are a number of films with Toho's monsters already, and personally I think we could use more. I don't want to go through the motions of reintroducing old villains as if I was watching another spiderman reboot. No. Time for some original concepts, not uninspired tripe, the likes of which we have been seeing in most super hero films today. I want a monster worthy to be Godzilla's absolute rival, not some pregnant MUTO insect getting tossed on her back and rofl stomped into oblivion - how shameful right?(Great fight scene though.) I mean, I want to see more creativity from the team at Legendary. Leave throwbacks out of it....unless it's Destroyah, I really feel his was an important purpose to the Godzilla mythology. Just my opinion...

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:07 PMI think the Toho monsters should be left alone, they're exhausted! New monsters is the way to go, it's a new series after all, it's in any way in the same canon as the others, it's it's own world. Just my thoughts, plz don't bite my head off!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:12 PMI agree new monsters should be introduced, and new ideas should be explored, but it doesn't hurt at all to bring back and honor the old ones. The reason we all want to see Mothra or Ghidorah because there's a high level of attachment to these things. I want to see these creatures being presented in a new and even cooler-better light.
I agree on the complaints that every single Toho monster should be added, especially the minor ones. However, just a few never hurt.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:14 PMMaybe mothra because there are heavy hints towards her and she could be very well done using cgi but other than that I don't think they should venture that way...

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:14 PMNot too soon though. Lets let the originality flow for a bit, maybe tease the return of an old baddie.

MemberBaragonMay-22-2014 3:23 PMI agree. Ghidorah, Mothra, MechaG; we've all seen these monsters done multiple times in many different ways. Time to give new monsters a time to shine, or even older ones that didn't get multiple appearances.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:31 PMI would have prefered if the entirety of the hesei series was new monsters like Biollante, monsters that were original and not confined to a simple humanoid shape and on scale with Godzilla. As for the new American series though given the technology one can't help but fantasize about what they could do with a creature like Ghidorah. The new series is trying to be very grounded in real science so the chances of getting a golden, three headed space dragon that fires lightning bolts seems unlikely but would certainly wow people. So bring on new monsters but for the third film it would be a spectacle if we could see Ghidorah. Trust me, they show a trailer showing a full cgi Ghidorah towering over Godzilla and tickets be sellin.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:32 PMi just want a mix of both. to keep older fans happy and keep newer fans coming in

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:32 PMIf this new franchise would only see two more films in it's future who do you think should take up the role of Godzilla's final foe, a Toho monster or something else?

MemberTitanosaurusMay-22-2014 3:48 PMKage432, while Destoroyah is an important pare of Godzilla's mythology, it can't be done here. Destoroyah was born from the Oxygen Destroyer which killed the first Godzilla. So Destoroyah wouldn't work in this movie series unless the Oxygen Destroyer was brought in first. Also, there are a few Toho monsters we would like to see. At least just Mothra, Anguirus or King Ghidorah.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 3:54 PMWell, if we alter Destroyah's origins a bit, we can still get the desired effect, example, the oxygen destroyer is fashioned into a bioweapon or a parasite much like the Muto or perhaps using Muto DNA in an attempt to destroy Godzilla but the parasite grows exponentially by feeding off of G's radiation and now we have a larger than life oxygen destroying monster than can go toe to toe with the king or worse. Seems legit in hollywood standards.
