AdminGodzillaSep-27-2014 12:12 PMNo, the Gamera set is the exact same discs Mill Creek has put out before. Just in a new box set. If you already have the movies you don't need this set.
Otherwise, it'll be nice for those who haven't been able to pick them up to get every disc in a single release.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 12:09 AMDoes anybody here buy the new version of Godzilla vs Biollante that's just released by Lions Gate a couple days ago? Is it the same as Echo Bridge version or is there anything different, like the Ed G commentary or a fixed 5.1 audio?

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-09-2014 12:46 AMIt's the exact same disc with fixed 5.1 audio. No commentary track. No fixed picture for North American television screens.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 5:50 AMHi Gman...thanks for the quick reply. I'll be buying the Biollante blu-ray for sure.I've recently bought Megalon, Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla 2000. One thing about Godzilla 2000... it turned out to be one disc only (not 2 discs as indicated above). No problem with that, of course. I think G2000 and GMK are the best amongst the Millennium Godzilla films.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-09-2014 10:39 AM^Yeah, I've meant to change that. Thanks for the reminder.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-14-2014 5:53 AMI've been searching high and low on any rumors on Son of ga nd vs mechaG and so far not finding anything. Has anybody here heard anything?

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-14-2014 12:59 PM^Nada at this moment. I'm wondering if the rumors I heard about a distributor picking them up was simply false or it was a deal that fell through.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-16-2014 5:32 PMMy e-mail sent to Sony:
Dear Sony:
Thank you for the recent release of several Godzilla titles on Blu-Ray, particularly the original Japanese version of Godzilla 2000 Millennium.
I would like to mention of couple of things which could improve future editions of these great genre films.
Firstly, the use of subtitles that are faithful translations of the original Japanese script. The “dubtitles” used on some the titles contain elements that don’t make sense from a plot point of view. They detract from the story as authored by the original screenwriters.
Secondly, please check to ensure that trailers included as part of the extra features be those connected to the title on the disc. The trailer for Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla was, unfortunately, the one for the 1993 film, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla, released by your company as, Godzilla vs. Mechagodzilla II.
Future releases could be enhanced by the inclusion of source material made available by Toho Studios. This could include behind the scenes and making of features, which you did include to some extant on your releases for Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S., and Godzilla Final Wars. For example, the Region 2 Set for Godzilla, Mothra, King Ghidorah: Giant Monsters All-Out Attack, has a great feature called, “The Making of GMK.” It’s an outstanding feature and, subtitled, would be a great and satisfying addition to this singular entry in the Godzilla Millennium Era films. Commentaries, subtitled, of course, would also add to the enjoyment of these films and provide an insight into this time-tested, beloved genre.
Speaking of GMK, the artwork for the Blu-ray is magnificent.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Jamaal Abdul-RahimLake Elsinore CA

MemberBaragonOct-17-2014 7:16 AM^Very well written! :D Nice job! I doubt it will make an impact (as I'm positive Sony doesn't give a rat's rump about this genre or its releases), but it is important for us fans to tell them where they can improve what will make these releases as perfect as they can be!

AdminGodzillaOct-17-2014 11:06 AMJammal,
Well done. Whether it turns heads at Sony or not, it's important that fans at least try to do this. I don't like how there's such a disconnect between Godzilla fans and the idea of coming together for something like that is outstanding. Thanks for being one of the few willing to take the time to show the fandom what you're doing to contribute.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-17-2014 10:31 PMThanks, guys, for the kind words.
I thought the people at Sony should know that there are caring fans out here, who buy their products. Like the people who post here and elsewhere. This fandom we have here is really something special. It would be nice to see the films we love get the treatment (we feel) they deserve. And they do desrve it. Besides enjoying the special features that would enhance our enjoyment of this great, iconic series, they would also open a door for casual fans with regard to the unique nature of kaiju eiga and the craftsmanship and artistry that goes into them. Not to mention, just plain, hard work.
All it takes is a fan with an appreciation for Japanese Giant Monsters who has the backing of the studio to make something really special happen. Perhaps the 'niche' could be expanded so that many more could see and enjoy what we love so much.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-17-2014 10:38 PM^Yes. Yes. Yes. Keep preaching it Jamaal. I love these thoughts and this attitude.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-30-2014 4:48 PMYeah I saw that back in August. I'm looking forward to the result largely because I think Toho did a pretty weak job of remastering the movies for Bluray. Doing it right depends on how much time they will take for each film-- And I like the entire series, I doubt they'll put that much effort into it.
Also, at the time 4K television hadn't really been pushed on the North American market yet. But now we have best buy advertising and selling 4K televisions, so the inclusion of 4K Bluray popping up more and more in other markets isn't too far off. Now will we ever see 4K releases of these films in North America? Despite what people's hopes are... I have huge doubts. But if the fandom can unite and be vocal for a change... well... you know.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-31-2014 4:59 PMWether they get released or not I'm just happy they are doing a digital restoration of the films just for the presevation of the collection. Now big G will be around and looking good forever.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-31-2014 9:09 PM^Until they do it again for the next big format of course.

MemberMothra LarvaeNov-23-2014 6:50 PMDoes anyone here have the Target special version of the Godzilla Blu-ray?
If so, how is the special feature? Is it worth getting?
Thanks.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaNov-23-2014 10:36 PMI have it and it's not really worth your time, Jammal.
It's 90% a cut and paste job from other featurettes already on the standard release.

Jamaal
MemberMothra LarvaeNov-26-2014 1:54 PMThanks, Gman.
I saw one at a nearby Target store, and thought, hmm...
Speaking of Godzilla media, I wonder if there will be a 'special edition' released down the line. You know, with commentaries, trailers, deleted scenes (and cameo appearances).
If I'm going to double dip, I want it all. And I mean all: all of the trailers, TV spots, or even a director's cut, if that is feasible.
Dear Warner Brothers: if you are reading this, try to make the Ultimate Godzilla Blu-ray something truly memorable. You've come this far by producing a great film and having the good sense to entrust it to a talented director with a vision. Now, we need a deluxe edition commensurate with the effort and artistry that went into the production of the film.

MemberBaragonNov-26-2014 4:59 PM^Thats a hell of a wait to FINALLY see the Akira Takarada scene we were promised... -_-

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-25-2015 4:28 PMBeen a couple months since anything has been posted. Has anything at all been said about the two classic g-movies being picked up? Hell at this point I'd settle for rumors. I know classic media isn't going to release whats left of their holdings (but this I don't mind, There boxed set is spectacular). I've been searching high and low for any news and have come up with zilch. All that comes up is the story of toho remastering the entire collection in 4k.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-28-2015 1:04 PMAm I to understand that the Destroy All Monsters BD does not have chapter stops?

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJan-28-2015 6:14 PMWraith,
I've been vigilant about it as well and so far nothing has cropped up about Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla and Son of Godzilla getting DVD re-releases/Blu-ray releases. Either the rumors about them early last year fell through or were just rumors... I really hope someone picks them up soon.
Jamaal,
I'm pretty sure the 2011 version does. I haven't researched the 2014 re-release enough to know whether or not it has chapter stops. I'll look into this more.

Thanks a lot. I would like to get the Blu-ray disc of the film that is the template for what Final Wars could have been.
