MemberMothra LarvaeJul-09-2014 4:16 PMThanks Ardian. I found them (and preordered!) on my lunch break and didn't have the time to post the links. Kind of funny that they don't show up on a "Godzilla Blu ray" search but only on a specific title search. Still not sure on the rebirth trilogy, little bit too kid oriented.....

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-09-2014 6:07 PMAny word on Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla (the original) and Son of Godzilla?

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-10-2014 12:19 AMArdian,
Thanks. I've added the price and links to the original post.
Wraith,
In truth I most likely wasn't looking hard enough. I know what you mean about the Mothra Trilogy. I have no love for it outside some minor glimmers during the kaiju battle sequences, but I'm sure I could find some use for them down the line.
MaybeToby,
The only whispers I've heard is that a new company had bought the rights to Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla. No word on who, when or what format.
I also want to revise some information. All three new releases will be two disc sets. (Godzilla 2000 will have a disc for Sony's cut and another disc for Toho's. Two Mothra movies will be put on one disc and a third on its own disc.) The special features from the Godzilla 2000 DVD have been confirmed for the Bluray. More information is expected soon.
I also made a minor error that these were the last Toho films Sony owned to put on Bluray. That's not true. They also hold the rights to Mothra (1960), Battle in Outer Space and The H-Man. (All Ishiro Honda films.) These three films are available in a single DVD pack, but there is currently no word on whether or not Sony plans on releasing them to bluray.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-10-2014 5:35 AMGman..about the special features on Godzilla 2000, is it the same as the special feature on the Japanese first press double DVD set? There's a lengthy 'making of' featurette on the 2nd DVD, as indicated here: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/TDV-2582D
I haven't seen the Mothra trilogy.. I only saw parts of it online...yup, too kiddie for my liking. Since it's a part of Sony's "The Toho Godzilla Collection" series, I will probably still go for the Mothra trilogy bluray anyway... only if the price has dropped of course.
Gman, as I wrote earlier...the price of the four earlier Sony double feature blurays (GvsKG/GvsM, GvsMG/GvsSG, GvsDestoroyah/GvsMegaguirus, Tokyo SOS/Final Wars) are now USD 11.49 in Amazon. I think you'll need to update the price above as well :)
I have bought the Icons of Sci-fi DVD that contains Mothra/Battle in Outer Space/H-man... I thought this was released by Classic Media (who has no plan to release their Godzilla & related catalog on bluray), so I decided to buy it anyway. Hmm, hopefully Sony will decide to get them out on Bluray someday. Shame about Classic Media...they have many early Godzilla, and both Rodan/War of Gargantuas...all need HD treatment :(

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-10-2014 10:23 AMI have the Classic Media dvds and I love them. It surprises me that they have no plans for blu-ray. Did the dvds not sell well or something?

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-10-2014 4:11 PMDid I say something I shouldn't have that was cause to have my post from this morning deleted?

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-10-2014 9:08 PMI corrected the prices to all the releases-- as of today. No doubt they'll continue to change.
Adrian,
As far as I know the features on the Godzilla 2000 bluray only resemble those on the R1 DVD, not Toho's R2. That could change since the features for these sets have yet to be 100% confirmed.
MaybeToby,
I think Classic Media expected them to sell better considering the money and effort put into the different versions, features and commentary. I agree Classic Media's DVDs are some of the top best releases in the franchise, DVD or Bluray. Love them.
Wraith,Not sure. You're not the only one because I remember some other posts in here that have disappeared and I've gotten a few complaints about that in my inbox.

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-11-2014 5:49 AMOk, lets try again. My order of the last Godzilla blus from amazon was refunded like $12 when shipped and another $8 a couple days later. I guess I reserved on a high price. I also agree wholehearted with GMAN on the Classic Media dvds. I have the boxed set and they looked better than the new blu rays. Crisp clear picture and sound on my 52" hdtv and blu player.

AdminGodzillaJul-15-2014 9:35 PMFound by a fan on Facebook. It gives a release date for Godzilla. Lets not jump the gun though. I'm still looking to see how trustworthy it is.

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-16-2014 6:38 AMI cheaked a bluray release site and all the movies up to and including Captain america have matching dates, everything past Captain America isn't listed yet.

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-16-2014 11:46 AMI just preordered Godzilla 2014 from amazon. If they email me a release date before one is found here I will post it. Thank you all for all the G info.

AdminGodzillaJul-17-2014 12:49 AMA new source is now claiming the United Kingdom release date for Godzilla '14 is December 1st. It does not, however, quote a source to verify it:

AdminGodzillaJul-17-2014 11:08 AMFor those who don't know, Echo Bridge's Godzilla vs. Biollante DVD/Bluray is officially out-of-print. But recently this has been popping up around the fandom:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00LVZK1LG
It looks like Lionsgate may be releasing a new version of the movie this October. I'm reaching out to a few sources to confirm this. Stay tuned.

ardian
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-17-2014 2:15 PMGood to hear that there is going to be another re-release of Biollante. I haven't got that one on bluray yet, and whenever I see it online (eBay or Amazon), it's always been sold for around USD 50 or more. Let's hope that this re-release retains all the extras on Echobridge version (the original pressing, not the later pressing with two other unrelated movies)

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-17-2014 4:57 PMDestroy All Monsters was listed for July 22 on Amazon but now says Aug 26. Wonder whats up there?

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-17-2014 5:36 PMAdrian,
Yeah, it will most likely just be Echobridge's disc distributed by Lionsgate. There's also a chance it might include an audio commentary that was recorded for the disc, but omitted at last minute due to time constraints. This is of course if the Lionsgate thing is true.
Wraith,
Disappointing, but not surprising. Media Blasters is one of the most unprofessional distribution companies out there. They have a track record of pushing back releases with no explaination or proper announcement.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-17-2014 10:47 PMBad news for those waiting on the Godzilla vs. Megalon and Destroy All Monsters discs, you'll have to wait a little longer. This comes from Media Blaster's facebook page:
"Godzilla BDs have been keeping us really busy and glad to say that both are done and just waiting for Toho approval. I believe they will see the light of day by end of August."
So apparently both movies have been pushed to mid-August.
Still no confirmation on Godzilla vs. Biollante yet.

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-18-2014 5:18 AMThis truely sucks. After their last attempt ended up being pulled from the market, it's a safe bet TOHO will drag their feet as long as possible or just flat out say NO. Also Gman, I saw a few forums mention rumors Shout! Factory got the rights to Son / MechaG. I and praying this is not true. I am almost deaf. Shout and all their off shoot companies DO NOT caption/subtitle their content at all. They claim it is too expensive. I had a very insensative reply from them once saying "Can't you just turn it up"? Really??!!

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-18-2014 9:02 AMYeah I've heard about Shout!Factory's captioning policy. That's some awful customer service on their part as well. Apologies. But if they want to appeal to fans at all they're going to have to release the films in Japanese which means they'll have no choice but to at least subtitle the content.
Their Japanese Transformers series were all subtitled and some of the subtitle lines even had captions for noises, which is something I don't really see on 'sub only' options. So if Shout! did pick them up there might be hope. I'll do some digging for you.

Angzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-18-2014 9:04 AM@Wraith
I'm guessing you haven't bought Shout Factory's DVD releases of Gamera? They released those movies with subtitle tracks. In fact, for the first two movies, that's the only option available due to rights issues. And while I haven't bought either, I'm assuming that their releases of Ultra Q and Ultra Seven have subtitles as well.

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-19-2014 9:20 AMGMAN, thank you.
Angzilla, after that response I will NOT give that company one cent of my money. I have the entire classic gamera collection on the new Mill Creek 2 set blus and the three newer ones on the same label. I will stoop to bootlegs before I will ever buy from them again. Gonna be really upset if you guys tells me Mill Creek is a Shout! company! lmao

Angzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-19-2014 7:25 PM@Wraith
What's your beef with Shout Factory? Like I said, they released the classic Gamera movies on DVD with subtitles (and unlike Mill Creek Entertainment and their classic Gamera Blu-Rays, those releases weren't completely barebones and didn't compress four movies onto a single disc).
As for whether or not they're a Shout Factory company (again, not sure why this company is so taboo in your eyes), according to Wikipedia (not a reliable source, I know, but cut me some slack), they have licensing deals with a ton of different companies, including Shout Factory.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-20-2014 2:35 AMFYI, the back covers of the next titles of Sony's "The Toho Godzilla Collection" can be previewed here:

Wraith0711
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-20-2014 7:31 PM@Angzilla
I am almost deaf. As a hearing impaired person I wrote a email to Shout! Factory asking why they don't caption their content and got back a very blunt rude response saying that it was too expensive, that only a small amount of people need them anyway and then asked why i couldn't just turn it up. It was uncalled for and I should have went after the person who sent it with a higher up person. If your not hearing impaired then I can't explain it to you. It's not just turning up the volume trust me. They release more stuff than just kaiju movies. Most of the transformers first and second gen, beastwars and Prime are caption free. I can go on and on. I mean no disrespect to you at all but I'm not going to start an argument here so please just drop it. It's a off topic subject anyway.

ardian
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-21-2014 2:27 AMAmazon now accepts pre-orders for Lion's Gate forthcoming re-release of Godzilla vs. Biollante. The price is USD 10.49 (discounted from its original USD 14.99 price)
Gman..are there any infos or rumors regarding the content of this re-release? If it's a bare bones release, I'd rather go for the Echo Bridge version instead.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-21-2014 10:22 AMAdrian,
Still nothing on the new Godzilla vs. Biollante bluray. Or even if it's real. I caution that Amazon accepting pre-orders means very little. When the first Godzilla vs. Megalon Bluray was supposed to hit, pre-orders were still in play even though Media Blasters had said it would on hold indefinately.
It's a catch 22 at the moment. The longer you wait for more info on the Lionsgate release, the more likely the Echobridge disc will go up in price. And if you buy the Echobridge disc and find out the Lionsgate release is real, then you've most likely spent way more money on the movie.
My sources are tying to dig for any information, but I don't have a lot of connections with Lionsgate.
