A form of humans. The remnants of the human race were largely killed on the Aratrum. The ones still on Earth will likely get phased out by the Houtua, who are only part human. The human race as we know it no longer exists.

Ok, so getting back on topic, I don't think this plot will work with Monsterverse Godzilla as it is just too out-of-line with his "character". (Quotations are there because we know very little of it as of 2019. You're welcome, future readers.)

Houtua are an evolutionary offshoot of mankind, they are still biologically humans at a cladistic viewpoint. Just as Birds are still theropod dinosaurs, Houtua are still humans there for humanity is still alive and not extinct because they left behind decedents. Also the Houtua can interbreed with humans so there is another indication that they are humans.

At a scientific standpoint the two "species" would be viewed

Baseline Humans: Homo sapiens sapiens

Houtua: Homo sapiens houtua

Hence, "as we know it, no longer exists".

I'm not talking about the extinction of baseline humans, I'm talking about the extinction of the whole clade!

Just members of the genus of Homo. Chimpanzees, Bonobos, Gorillas, and Orangutans are to be spared. Gibbions are hominoids so they are even further from being related to humans, so they should be spared as well.

So that means a yes for the hominids (i.e. Modern Humans, Neanderthals, Australopithecus afarensis, homo erectus, etc.)?

The Australopithecines (Humans and their ancestors and extinct cousins) branch of Hominini, so yes.

I believe the quote above is meant to represent the civilizational aspect of humanity, not the evolutional sense. Kind of like Ancient Rome’s (Western Roman Empire, to be precise) collapse with the people who lived in its domain and continued to exist until their gradual absorption by barbarian kingdoms that rose to dominance.

That still implies humans were not wiped out by Godzilla

Yes, humans were not wiped out entirely and continued to exist, and a subspecies of humans (the Houtua) alongside them; however, because humans will be living alongside the Houtua, and Haruo, having destroyed the last remnants of Nanometal that could have rebuilt human civilization (as explained by Martin Lazzari), humans (being the minority among the Houtua) will gradually become absorbed into Houtua society. Thus my example with Ancient Rome’s collapse and its people becoming absorbed into the rising barbarian kingdoms, and hence G. H. (Gman)’s quote “the human race as we know it no longer exists” because humanity (figuratively speaking) met its end to Godzilla.

still humans remain in the form of houtua, just Homo sapiens sapiens ceases to exist while Homo sapiens houtua survives. I want the human clade to fall into extinction to where no members of Homo sapiens or their decedents survive Godzilla

@JurassicKaiju Extinction isn’t a new concept in cautionary tales, but the Godzilla films have always been about, at least for me, rebirth and redemption after punishment. So I personally don’t think that would fit. But looking back on it, Extinction stories can be effective if done well.

I always dislike the humans are special trope and humans always manage to survive after alien/zombie/robot/kaiju incursion why not take the extra step and off the entire clade? No more humans, no more posthumans, and no more transhumans. I mean extinction is a very natural part of evolution and nothing lasts forever, so why should humans? The planet earth is going to be stripped of life in 1 billion years, so everything will eventually become extinct
