Godzilla vs. Kong: A Common Threat

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-18-2017 5:43 AMNow, with Godzilla vs. Kong turning some heads we can all agree that the two monsters will obviously go head-to-head. But no one has to lose, I mean if they fight the whole movie it would be illogical since both Godzilla and Kong are supposed to be of the "good" factor.
So, as everyone has suggested the two monsters may fight a bigger threat than themselves. Who that could be? Probably Gigan, or since Michael Doughtery has teased the Oxygen Destroyer on Twitter, maybe Godzilla and Kong will be pitted against Destoroyah.
We've seen it before, Destoroyah is a two-monster job after all and he would fit the big villain role pretty well. Then again, this is just mere speculation, but it'd be pretty fun to see a Legendary-designed Destoroyah, don't you think?

It'd be cool to see Mothra/Rodan/Anguirus join Godzilla or Kongs side so there wouldn't just be only 2 monsters after having four in GKOTM.
All right all right all right

I honestly wouldn't mind Godzilla and Kong fighting all through the film. They did it in the original, that seem to work out great! But we all know no one wants to see either Godzilla nor Kong lose. So yes I do think after a long fight between them another threat will show up and bring them together.
OR...... maybe their common enemy is... man! Maybe the Oxygen Destroyer is unleashed on both monsters as they fight towards the end. Maybe it will be a close finish between both monsters and before the final blow to each monster is struck, Monarch unleashes the OD. Pinning both monsters into submission. We might not see a 3rd monster, or... a clear victor.
think about it, in a lot of "VS" films, the common threat to both parties always wins in the franchise's that made them so popular to begin with. For example:
Freddy Vs Jason - Teenagers Won(they always win in the end don't they?)
Alien Vs. Predator 1 and 2 - Humans Win (they always do).
Frankenstein Meets The Wolfman - NO CLEAR VICTOR
I'm going to ignore the Full Moon entries on this one. Most of the "VS" are very silly. Puppet Master vs. Demonic Toys, Doll Man vs. Demonic Toys(spoiler alert, Demonic Toys always lose). Gingerdead Man vs. Evil Bong(I did not see but Im sure its silly and the humans win).
The only movie with a clear victor at the end of such a "VS" movie is... King Kong Vs. Godzilla(1962). Where we see King Kong come out of the sea swimming back home. Clearly Kong won(just barley). Hence such a dramatic need for a rematch between the two. Keep it the same. 2 monsters enter, one or none leaves.
But I think the only reason we are really discussing this is because of Batman Vs Superman. They team up after a pathetic 10 min fight scene. Leaving no victor and no loser. Everyone happy and no one is upset. Lame.
But what ever happens in this VS movie, we should just enjoy the ride. This ride only comes around once in close to 60 years, so lets just enjoy it while its here.
But as much as I would love to see a team up between these two Monster icons, I hope they do not succumb to that. the title is called Godzilla vs Kong, not Godzilla and Kong - Fight for Earth, I hope they keep it one of a kind.

MemberTitanosaurusAug-21-2017 5:41 AMthat would be cool. I would love to see what that is in the GVKK

MemberTitanosaurusAug-22-2017 5:57 AMIn light of recent news, I'm inclined to believe that any other monsters that appear could potentially show up BEFORE Kong and Godzilla get into a scrap.
Perhaps, to buck the expected trend, the common enemy is the beginning point, with the fight itself being the result.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-22-2017 11:25 AMriggzamortis86: there WAS a clear-cut winner in Batman v Superman. Batman kicked the crap out of Supes and was a hair away from killing him until that convoluted "Martha" arc.
And they can very much do both. Like I said before in my latest thread, one can win and a boss kaiju (be it Destoroyah or whoever) can appear just as he's about to finish the other off leading to the team-up. Just because no one dies doesn't mean the guy on his back didn't lose, see: Goku vs. Golden Frieza in Return of F. Hell, Vegeta clearly beat him afterwards even though he similarly didn't get to deliver the finishing blow.

MemberTitanosaurusAug-22-2017 1:00 PM^I guess if you count that as a win, even though batman wanted Superman dead and even spent most of the movie obsessing and even dreaming about it! Making a pivotal plot point as to why they want to fight in the first place. But in one moment of coincidence having to share a mother with the same name still does not count as a win. it counts for a cop out. in my opinion it would have been better to see Batman break his rule about killing anyone and then see him self destruct over that dilemma after killing Superman. It will leave you with a sense of dread. perhaps a lesson of revenge and seeking out to destroy those you hate? Im sorry if you enjoyed the movie and if I am insulting your taste in movies. Who am I to say what is good and bad? but I was angry with the result of that outcome. That the much anticipated movie would try and make you all sit there and except that as a fight and win. no one ever really makes it clear and puts a tally next to Batman as a win. Its still chalked up there with all my examples as a bad "VS" movie.
It would be cool to see them team up after a battle. Its happened in Godzilla movies before. It just another ploy to sell tickets and not to upset one fandom over another.

MemberTitanosaurusAug-22-2017 6:50 PMYou have way more knowledge of that universe than do I. Still doesn't change my opinion on how I feel about what I saw. But what do I know right? Your right about one thing. We should get back on topic. Haha
I really think they should keep KVG fighting just between the two. Not saying that there isn't room for more MUTOs in the film for the two main monsters to fight separately until the main event
