Things to discuss...

MemberTitanosaurusJun-23-2017 3:33 PMI just wanted to discuss a couple of things I've been thinking about and noticing with Godzilla King of The Monsters. A lot of these things I've noticed from Michael Dougherty's own twitter, so lets get started shall we.
1)Godzilla's screen time and design change: Mike was recently asked if G was going to get more screen time, since a major criticism of the last movie was that he was barley in the movie. The person then said how much time will he have in the sequel in comparison. Mike's response was, I quote "More. Much More.". Now that means something, in fact that actually means a lot. The director just straight up said that G will have a ton more screen time in this movie which to me may mean up to 30 or even 45 minutes! You have to understand, in G14 he had about 10 minutes, so if Mike is saying he had "Much More" than that means it's going to be a heck of a lot more than 10 minutes. A second thing is design change, as we all know Godzilla's design usually changes from movie to movie. However a lot of people have been saying that this Godzilla shouldn't change, as it would confuse audiences and it wouldn't make sense. Yes, a massive change wouldn't make that much sense, but smaller ones would, in fact they're almost mandatory. The reason why is yet again stated by Dougherty himself when asked if G was gonna get any tweaks/redesigns. Mike said, I quote "He is evolution in the flesh,so....". In another words, basically a yes, as Godzilla is a natural creature and is going to change over time. You have to remember, we don't know how many years it's going to be between the two films. For all we know it's been like 30 years and Ken Watanabe's character is old. So it definitely makes sense for the Big G to have changes.
2)Ghidorah: As for Ghidorah, we don't really know much, however there are a few things we know/can infer. First off, Mike has been posting a few things about outer space as of a month ago. To me, this is tell tale signs of Ghidorah, possibly his origin. Another one that's very interesting to me is that at the beginning of the month he posted a tweet of a Komodo Dragon kills with him saying, I quote "How a Dragon Kills". This is extremely intriguing, as if you are not aware, Komodo dragons bite prey once and then let their strong venom bring down the prey, with prey usually being larger than them. Does this mean Ghidorah will have a venomous bite, able to paralyze/kill other monsters? If so, I would be very happy, as it's an awesome addition to Ghidorah that's ripped straight out of nature, which is exactly the Monsterverse's style.
3) Practical Effects: A fan asked Mike if there would be ANY practical effects in the movie, and Mike's response was, I quote "Yes", yeah I know very complicated answer. But this is a big deal, as it means that they're may be things such as animatronics in the movie. Someone on the site, known as TheTruthIsOutThere, actually said that he heard from a close source that the practical effects are going to be Ghidorah's necks and heads! If this is true, it should look spectacular, maybe all the monster will get some sort of practical effects, who knows!
4)Comic-Con: Finally let's discuss this upcoming Comic-Con, which is from July 20, 2017 to July 23, 2017. Since the movie has began filming and work is being done, is it possible that we will have a trailer? If so then I really hope it gets released online as well. I know many people may say that it's to far away, but remember, there was a teaser for the movie LAST year. That was way before the movie began filming, and they did the same thing for G 14. So hopefully we'll get a longer more in depth trailer, and actually get to see it XD.
Anyways, post your comments down below and discuss. What do you think of the practical effects, a possible trailer, etc.

Godzilla... Truly a God incarnate.

AdminGodzillaJun-23-2017 10:43 PMGodzilla having 30 to 45 minutes would be way too much and would pretty much beat out the average amount by a whole lot. There would hardly be any room for story or character development if he were given that amount of time.
The longest Godzilla has ever been on screen was almost 27 minutes and that was in 1993. (Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla II) The average franchise time Godzilla is on screen is around 14-15 minutes, which none of us have complained about before because it was used so liberally.
Now, the average franchise percentage that Godzilla is on screen in is 14%. So, for a moment, lets assume Godzilla: King of the Monsters will have the same average and is two hours long (roughly the same length as both Godzilla '14 and Kong: Skull Island), that would mean Godzilla would take up 17 minutes of screen time in the new movie--Which is above average for the series and seven minutes longer than what he got in 2014. Believe it or not, this would probably be fine given the fact this is the same average percentage much of the series has.
Even if he does get more screen time I think it's important to put in perspective. 30-45 minutes is Way. Too. Long. And a lesser amount would be more than adequate.

MemberBaragonJun-24-2017 11:08 AMI have to agree with Gman. Honesty, without a cast and story, why waste money going to the theaters to watch giant monsters duke it out in screen for 30-45 minutes when you can actually play a Godzilla game for that purpose?

MemberBaragonJun-24-2017 2:04 PM@Im Durp,
To be even more honest, "If we get characters the likes of G14 again I'd rather just watch monsters fight" how much fighting was there in g14 again?
In any case, should we end up with characters like g14 which killed off two of the best actors early, then we can expect heavier criticism from the fanbase and endless b×××hing from everyone. I don't think this is a route Mike Dougherty will go. I could be entirely wrong, but with the cast he has, it would be a bigger waste not to use them.

Well I don't watch monster movies for characters, I watch them for the monster actions and the monster itself.
Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.

MemberTitanosaurusJun-25-2017 1:59 PMGman-That makes sense, thanks for giving me that bit of knowledge.
EmptyH- Heavily agreed, it would be an awesome ability to have
Huge Ben-I wasn't trying to say that I didn't want a good cast and story, what I was saying is that I would like to have a lot of monster action and a lot of story developing. Both can be done well if the director is talented enough, which I personally think Mike is.
