About Kong in the MonsterVerse

So in just about every King Kong movie, Kong eventually dies in the end. However, it's slightly different with the newest film. In Skull Island, Kong doesn't kick the bucket. This is due to the fact that he will have to fight Godzilla in 2020. But what if after that movie, Kong...dies?

I had a similar idea about this. What would happen is in a film after GVK, Kong would be captured by human and brought to New York City, either for the purpose of studying him or exposing him to the world. Kong would then break out from containment of course, and then he would run loose through the city. But it would eventually end with Kong being hit with so many firearms that he dies, but not before saving the human protagonist of the film, whoever that is. Then, society has to deal with the fact that they killed an innocent creature. Fast forward a few years, and we get Son of Kong, when explorers going to Skull Island find a new Kong - which is related to the original. Then that Kong fully grows up to replace his father, and the cycle is complete.

The only problem with this is that Kong seems to be the last of his kind, and, as I have said before, there suddenly being another one would require an explanation that I'm not sure could be properly provided.
