MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 11:30 AMWhat is the ultimate G film other than the original? What is the other film.that accurately represents Godzilla and what he is. I'm curious to see what people say. GMAN actually got me thinking on this one

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 11:37 AMWhat do you mean "other than the orignal". 54 was a great film but its not the best of all 30 films.(28 If you don't conseder boht american versions.)

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 11:41 AMfor me, it's Final Wars, everything about godzilla in that is what makes me remember why I loved him so much when I was younger:
Massive size
SUPER op
a slight human side
I just love Final Wars G so much more than any others, those're the only reasons I can think of though.

MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 11:45 AMGMan would actually know my answer here. We've discussed this before. For me, it's Mothra Vs Godzilla '64. Godzilla is a dark, destructive, avenging god in it. No apologies. He is belligerent. That's the Godzilla that I love. He's no anti-hero, or saviour. He is punishment for our hubris. For me, a Godzilla movie is defined by "iconic moments or scenes" and this film has them in spades. It's basically an hour and a half, but there are so many iconic scenes involving Godzilla that it feels like he's in half the movie, but it probably amounts to a few minutes more than G 2014. He appears, rampages, takes on the Japanese and American military (American version), rampages some more and has two fights with the adult Mothra and her offspring. His look is great; his face and eyes are so damn mean-looking!
I want this movie on Blu-Ray please!

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 11:48 AMFor me the one that best represents what Godzilla means is Mothra vs Godzilla, and GMK

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 12:33 PMGuys he is asking ''accurately represents Godzilla and what he is'', not your favourite film

MemberGiganOct-09-2014 12:36 PMKOLDWARKID JRR- That same Godzilla is also one of the dumbest, clumsiest, and weakest, he was basically being owned by Mothra xD, He tripped and fell into suspension wires, and he couldnt decide to blast Mothra. It is a good movie though, but not the best Godzilla.
Although Godzilla is known to be mean, when you think of Godzilla, you think of destruction.
Godzilla has only been evil 4 times, he is truthly, a anti-hero. Thats what 2014 was able to accomplish, and thats what Showa and later Heisei was able to too.
So to me, the most faithful Godzilla interpretation (Not design but nature choices) Is Godzilla vs King Ghidorah.
For the first part he was an anti hero, not fighting for anything, but not caring about anything else but himself. Then in the later, he becomes a villain.
It incooperates what Godzilla truly was.
Good grief.

Durp004
MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 12:42 PMHe also asks what the ultimate gfilm is and while protraying Godzilla is an important aspect in that, it's also not the only thing that needs to be looked at, although I think Godzilla's portrayal in Godzilla vs Biollante is pretty spot on, along with the the characters, story and effects it becomes "the ultimate godzilla film"

MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 1:01 PMEh, you kids need to realize that the first film is the best. Right movie, right time, right place, right enviroment.
But second best would have to be mothra vs godzilla 1964 or maybe even the return of godzilla 1984.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 1:35 PMGG, technecly G54 is the weakest godzilla, followed by early showa and then late showa

MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 1:35 PMJRR, the weakest....................? Really?
Please explain.

MemberGiganOct-09-2014 2:03 PMJRR- Godzilla 1954 is Gmk, so im surpries your critiscizing it despite gmk being your favirote Godzilla.
However, Gmk was hax with his human sould controlling him. Godzilla 1954 is what Gmk at the soul is.
Good grief.

Huge-Ben
MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 2:04 PMGG, not true.
54 godzilla died at the end of the film, GMK is another godzilla on his own.

TheGMan123
MemberTitanosaurusOct-09-2014 2:06 PMYeah, but GMK, in his continuity, is the original reborn with all that mystical stuff and stuff :P

Huge-Ben
MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 2:09 PMThey said in the film "First godzilla attack was repulse, the animal was killed by using an unknown chemical compound and the inventor has since died and his records have been lost" Gmk, is not the 54 godzilla.
But some how in some way final wars said that "The king of monsters that apperead in 1954 which still threatens mans very exsistence" Meaning that the oxygen destroyer didn't kill him.

Something Real
MemberGodzillaOct-09-2014 2:12 PMSPARKZILLA14 - What an interesting topic! Hmm, for me, I'd have to say that the Godzilla which is most accurate to the '54 mythology (unadulterated destruction) is either the one from The Return of Godzilla or Godzilla 2000. Both of those iterations struck me as being extremely frightening and uncompromising in their efforts to punish mankind! This is a very fun notion to consider! Thank you ever so much for presenting it! :)

TheGMan123
MemberTitanosaurusOct-09-2014 2:15 PMBBB, the official plot synopsis says that the spirits of WWII soldiers possessed and reanimated the remains of the previous Godzilla from 1954. So, though not "fully" the original, he still isn't an entirely unique Godzilla separate from the original.

Huge-Ben
MemberBaragonOct-09-2014 2:17 PM^Ah, i forgot about that part. Haha! Thanks for the reminder.
Either way though, godzilla in Gmk was almost unstoppable like 54. Which is a good thing.

MemberMothra LarvaeOct-09-2014 4:06 PMThe more I think on this topic the harder it is to depict which could be alternate #1.
I'm down to three when it comes to this, this is why I started the topic because it is hard to just pick one.
The three I have are:
G84
G vs Biollante
And
G2000

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaOct-09-2014 4:34 PMI don't know if "ulitimate" Godzilla movie is the best wording on my part. But other than the original I'm going to have to side with both Koldwarkid and Durp. Mothra vs. Godzilla and Godzilla vs. Biollante are two of the most well-rounded, beautifully made and straight forward Godzilla adventures in the series. They both have interesting ideas and themes without going overboard on other elements (mysticism, Black hole guns, time travel) while also providing audiences with some of the most iconic and effective portrayls of Godzilla himself.
I don't necessarily think this makes them exactly the #2 and #3 best movies of the series, but they tend to represent some of the most well made textbook qualities of a Godzilla film.
