MemberMothra LarvaeSep-08-2014 4:56 PMHey there! This is my first real topic post. And this is a question I am sure has been asked before( And it may be kinda cheesy) but f*** it! I'm asking anyway! What is it about Godzilla that you love so much? Like that one big thing that makes you a fanatic! For me it's probably his overal design, namley his spines or scutes...or whatever you wanna call those things on his back. There is something about his design that drew me in as a kid, and still today. I could (and have) just stare at him for hours, just studying him. Of course that's one of many reasons I love Big G, what are your reasons?

HAHA! Thanks!
In all honestly, its hard to choose! Godzilla isn't just a collection of one or two unique traits... he's indiscribable! I suppose my favorite aspect of him is his ability to change and adapt for different eras, different cultures, different fans, and different tastes. Whether villain, hero, or anti-hero, Godzilla arives with a message to teach each of us, whether it be to promote a nuke-free world or to help kids learn to defend themselves again bullies, there is truly a Godzilla for everyone... and thats why we love him, and why he's still here, 60 years later. :)

MemberGiganSep-08-2014 5:56 PMGodzilla, because think about these words.
Godzilla, the king of the monsters, the dominant alpha predator. The balancer unstoppable being. Godzilla: The King of the monsters.
Just the feeling that you get when watching Godzilla, i feel that 2014 really nailed this.
the feeling of, he is the alpha being, nothing can stop him, he cant be stopped on any case.
He is the king, beasts tremble at his feat and the world burns by his mere step.
His presence makes grown men cry, his mere swiming makes a tsunami of unstoppable proportions.
He is the king, he is Godzilla.
Good grief.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-08-2014 6:08 PM@DANZILLA93. Very true! He's unbeatable! Which is the main reason 98 pissed me off, but that's a whole other ball game

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-08-2014 7:01 PMWell the reason why I like him so much is the fact that he started, or at least help start, the kaiju genre! The kaiju genre is one of my favorite genres, and it's the monsters and the brutality of some of the fights that I love so much. was introduced to the franchise by the 98 film, and at the time I really liked it but my four year old self managed to find on the speacial features some trailers for Godzilla vs. King Ghidorah (Heisei) and I begged to watch as many as I could at the time. So I guess there's two reasons, Him being a Kaiju and also him creating Ghidorah!

king of all KAIJU:)

AdminGodzillaSep-08-2014 11:44 PMIt's hard to choose one thing when there's 60 years worth of reasons to love him. It's no one trait and being versitile enough of a character / plot device to hammer out 29 movies doesn't hurt.
While at the very basic level the idea of an ultra-powerful, dinosaurian monster stomping cities and fighting other creatures is the hook, beyond it is a wealth of plot designs built around him to exemplify specific eras of both Japan and its cinema. What's almost as interesting as the movies is the reason they are what they are and that's what makes Godzilla so fascinating. He is the father of a very unique type of film/TV-making birthed out of Japanese culture; his influence has rippled through countless other stories/movies for the last 60 years.
So breaking it down, I suppose my favorite quality about Godzilla is... endearment. He's an endearing character that has spawned not only a 60 year series, but a 60 year old sub-genre that's inspired others, is beloved by many and open to such a wide audience of fans. So how is he not endearing?
