Toho Godzilla New Series

to be honest id like to see both at one point

right now it all depends on how well they like legendary's godzilla, but i would love to see them pick up where godzilla vs destroyah left off. :)

I'm open to it. Besides continuing from G vs Destoroyah or GMK, where else could Toho start?

Remember the Godzilla: Awakening comic? I'd be highly interested if Toho converted this comic to film and used a rubber suit version of Godzilla 2014. The comic has a good handful of native Japanese speakers and parts that take place in Japan so it's not like it wouldn't make sense. It'd be awesome if done right and I'd pick Shusuke Kaneko (GMK) to direct.

if ishiro honda was still alive i would pick him to direct. :)

^That goes without saying. But I wish Kaneko would return to the genre someday. His contributions to Gamera, Godzilla and Ultraman are amongst the best of each franchise and the genre as a whole.

If Toho were to continue the Godzilla series, however, I'd prefer it be another standalone story or vague reboot, ala, Godzilla 2000. The Heisei series is over, GMK doesn't need a sequel. I'd rather see something else.

I honestly think the closest we'll ever see to a Honda-esque movie is Pacific Rim; funny enough. I'd also like to see some other Japanese directors take a crack at it. Particularly some Ultraman directors. Or imagine Koichi Sakamoto taking a crack at a Godzilla movie-- It'd hardly be a serious film, but the action would make Final Wars look like a warmup.

^ ohhhh yeah! that would make final wars go to sleep, so to speak.

I don't think we'll be getting a tokusatsu godzilla film in a LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time. Expect there to be two more Legendary Godzilla films and then probably another 'reboot' in about ten years.

If toho does make another movie, i want Keita Amemiya to work on it.
