Chris
AdminSpaceGodzillaMar-05-2013 3:21 PMThink back, way back to when you saw your first Godzilla movie. What made you a fan of Godzilla initially? Was it the look of Godzilla himself? Was it the story? What made you a fan? Let us know by replying below!

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-04-2014 11:23 PMI've been a Godzilla fan since I was born. I was born in 1996. The first movie I ever saw was Godzilla 2000 when it came to theatres. I instantly fell in love, as I grew older I kept watching all the movies they released while of course finding the older ones and watching them as well. I've seen every movie and my first tattoo will be of Godzilla. I will be a fan until I die. I'm now 18 years old and I cannot wait to see this king reborn in the starlight. It's about time he got the attention a king deserves. Am I right?

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-05-2014 12:37 AMI never got a chance to watch any Godzilla films until about 2009 when GODZILLA 2014 was first announced. I was really excited about a new Godzilla movie and decided to watch one for the first time. I chose Godzilla vs. Megaguirus since it was the only one on TV. I thought it was okay but then I watched Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) on Hulu and that film pretty much cemented me as a fan. I still need to watch about 10 more to see all 28 though, I'm missing pretty much all the films from the 60s and 70s.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-05-2014 4:09 PMi watched g1998 on vhs loved it as a kid(3/4 years old), then maybe a year (memory is a little blurred) my first toho godzilla movie was (unfortunatly) ebirah horror of the deep (godzilla vs the sea monster in the us). at first i liked the 1998 movie more, then when i watched the movies online (back then and still today the only way if you live outside the us) and godzilla save the earth, i was then hucked for the rest of my life.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-05-2014 7:30 PMGodzilla 1985 was my first and it made me a fan because of its atmosphere. The musical score was incredible, as were the effects and action. One of a few childhood favorites that remains a favorite for me today.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-08-2014 8:46 AMI really didnt know about godzilla till i seen an action figure of him in a toy store, it was of Burning godzilla and i loved dinosaurs and godzilla to me looked like an awsome dinosaur and i ended up getting it for christmas and still have the figure. That was back in 2003, i was born in 1997. I had not realized what he was but after watching my First movies which Godzilla vs mechagodzilla(1974) and Godzilla 2000. after those films i was hooked and one day my cousin, who was also a godzilla fan, was selling a whole tub of movies and half of them were godzilla and he just gave them to me. the films he had given to me were godzilla the king of the monsters, godzilla vs megalon, godzilla raids again and godzilla vs king gihdorah. i had also loved the 1998 godzilla film, even though people say it was horrible but i actually enjoyed the film alot. it may not stay true to the origionals but its still a great movie in my opinion and loved the animated series too. i have collected almost every godzilla film and also pick up toys here and there and now with Godzilla apearing on the big screen in 2014 i cant wait for the film. i will probally collect the toy lines too. thanks for reading.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-11-2014 10:13 PMThe first time I ever saw Godzilla was when I was watching tv with my dad flipping through channels when we came across the last fight scene in Destroy All Monsters, which is one of my favorite fights in the Godzilla movie to date. Ever since then I was just hooked. I loved the idea of giant monsters destroying cities and fighting each other, and I still do.

MemberMothra LarvaeJan-12-2014 7:18 PMWell, I was on youtube 1 day and saw the Godzilla: Final Wars trailer, a while back when I was younger and I was just like:
Omg that's cool, giant monsters fighting. At first I thought godzilla was 1000 ft tall awesome but it turned out to be 100-400 ft (I was younger so don't question me) but I was freaked out. I thought it was real so, I was scared. But my mom told me it was just a monster movie so I was less scared and I've watched 28 out of all 32 movies and I"ve loved Godzilla ever since.

Been a fan ever since I was 4 :)

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-08-2014 1:29 AMMy daikaiju story starts when I was in 8th grade, back in 2008. Middle school was terrible, so one night I decided to ease the pain by watching a movie from iTunes. I saw a banner advertisement for Cloverfield, and clicked on it, curious and unaware of the movie’s genre. Reading the iTunes plot description, I was apparently interested enough to purchase the movie, and soon afterwards began to watch it. I guess something about it was appealing, since it turned out that I loved it, and have rewatched it countless times since. It’s still my very favorite movie to this day.
Naturally, watching this giant monster movie led me to the daikaiju genre, and of course, Godzilla films. I was fascinated by every daikaiju movie I watched, and also began to explore other realms of science fiction. Now I have a growing collection of kaiju figures, a few stacks of Godzilla comics, a Godzilla VHS box set, a Godzilla board game and card game, Godzilla movie soundtracks, some daikaiju-themed shirts, 3 daikaiju movie posters, and my favorite game of all time, Godzilla Unleashed for Wii.
I’ve loved giant monsters since 2008, and will likely continue to love this genre long into the future, no matter what gender expectations dictate and what society thinks of my obsession. Haha. This has been the abridged story of my daikaiju love affair.

MemberMothra LarvaeFeb-21-2014 3:35 PMI started watching Godzilla when I was a kid. The first one I ever watched was Godzilla 1954. I have to say though, the Godzilla from the 60"s and 70's was what made me become a fan. That Godzilla actually had personality and would taunt and dance during fights. He was a badass. I have been the biggest fan ever since. I love me some Godzilla

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-03-2014 10:02 AMI was either 2 or 3, and my grandma gave me Godzilla vs Megalon as a present.. I was absolutely fascinated by it. I can't even describe why, but I could watch that movie over and over again and whenever I felt sad I'd watch it. The movie practically changed my life lol. I soon began collecting all the movies and now I'm almost 18 and still a hardcore fan :')

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-04-2014 12:56 PMAs a child, I loved Godzilla because I thought his design was awesome and loved seeing him fight other awesome looking monsters. But as I grew older I started to appreciate other things about Godzilla, specifically the original Gojira. What truly made me a fan of Godzilla was realizing that he was so much more than a large, cool-looking animal. When I realized Godzilla was an allegory for the Hiroshima/Nagasaki bombings I never looked at him the same way again. It definitely made me realize just how terrifying the original movie is when trying to view it as someone who was actually there would. Seeing Godzilla as being a physical representation of the atomic age makes me realize what it means when he is referred to as a force of nature. It really puts it into perspective for me to think that one being could wield so much power. He is basically power incarnate. So,yeah. Thats what made me a big fan, rather than just a casual fan. Also, he stomps cities.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-15-2014 7:53 AMWell, family legend has it that I watched my first Godzilla movie on TV whilst I was still a toddler, sitting next to my dad, who had fallen asleep. My first recollections were at 5 years old and I was already a fan at that point. I do rememeber seeing Godzilla: King of the Monsters for the first time and being inconsulible for about a half hour after watching Godzilla die.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-17-2014 3:48 PMI was looking around the web. I saw this thing called Godzilla online. I originally thought it was just some fan-made monster. I found out more about Godzilla soon. Now I'm here with an SH Monsterarts sitting right above me.

MemberBaragonMar-20-2014 8:35 PMI think Godzilla vs King Kong was the first G film I saw. I think I was around 7, maybe 8 years old then. And it totally blew me away at that age. So that is what got me interested in the Big G.
There is also something else. I can't really explain it in a rational way, but there is just something about a giant monster stomping on a city that appeals to me. And Godzilla's design was...just cool. Reminded me of a T Rex and Alligator (It didn't hurt that I do kinda like alligators). And when he unleashes his atomic breath, I just love the explosions.
Years later when I finally saw the original G film, I was struck but well the film was, not just as a Kaiju film, but simply as a good film, period. And Honda, while best known for his Kaiju flicks, was also well known as an assitant to Kurosawa and in fact helped to finish some of Kurosawa's films.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-29-2014 5:01 PMWhat made me a Godzilla fan? What inspired me to blindly love a giant, irradiated, atomic-laser breathing dinosaur capable of destroying entire cities within minutes and fought giant monsters to the death?
Why, it was the giant, irradiated, flamable breath wielding iguana that I had known for years as Godzilla.
Zilla.
I was young. I watched the movie. I was exhilerated. I wanted everything with the mere word Godzilla plastered on it.
Long live Big G!
