MemberBaragonJan-16-2022 11:08 AMIve noticed some, especially on youtube, giving their theories for the future of the monsterverse. From the relatively likely(a continuation of Kongs' story) to the outlandish(Destroyah, all monsters film), But what if the American Godzilla movies ended here. Do you think Godzilla vs Kong was a satisfying ending? Or do you think it would be a missed opportunity for more?

MemberAnguirusJan-16-2022 11:45 AMI feel like it would be too abrupt of an ending for him. If Godzilla's going to be absent from the MonsterVerse (at least for now) then I feel like he should get a bigger send off than just him swimming away. It seems like Legendary might continue the MonsterVerse with Kong, though Godzilla's role in it is uncertain. But considering that the MonsterVerse started with Godzilla and the fact that he's currently established as the Alpha/Apex titan of the series, I feel like it would be weird for him to just vanish without any explanation. If they did something similar 1984, where Godzilla falls into an erupting volcano and is presumed dead, I think it could be a good way of explaining his absence while still having the opportunity to eventually bring him back in the future.

MemberGiganJan-16-2022 2:06 PMYeah, it's too abrupt for Godzilla. They've also set up larger roles for Kong, and I think Madison's story is not finished as well. What we need it closure.

MemberGiganJan-16-2022 8:47 PMI think it would be a satisfying ending for me. I personally have found all my questions about this story answered, especially the hollow earth.
Honestly. Don’t think Godzilla will continue being in the MV. But like SasquaDash said, Godzilla vanishing for no reason would be weird. And how they got rid of him would matter. We wouldn’t want the Goji fan base to be angry at MV for ditching him in a lousy way, like just saying, “Oh he died” or something.
I would find this ending satisfying if Kong was not getting another film.

MemberAnguirusJan-17-2022 8:38 AMPersonally I don't think it would be a satisfying ending, mainly because there's a lot more that can (and probably should) be explored in this universe. If the series ended with GvK, there would be a lot of questions that would be left unanswered. Such as, What happened during the ancient Titan war, how did it start? What happened to the Hollow Earth Kongs? Why did Ghidorah come to Earth? Are there other alien Titans out there? What lead up to Ghidorah being frozen in Antarctica? What is the Hollow Earth energy source? How did ancient civilizations coexist with the Titans? What lead to the Titans going into hibernation for thousands of years? What is the origins of the Titans? Plus, we've only seen a fraction of what's actually in the Hollow Earth and given how we've had 3 movies building up to the idea (There's even some references to the idea in Godzilla 2014), it would be a major missed opportunity not to explore it more.

MemberGiganJan-17-2022 11:36 AMNot to mention the fact that Godzilla needs to have one more movie to give him the proper MV exit he needs.

MemberGiganJan-17-2022 3:42 PMThat was my point in saying it would be a good ending for me if king wasn’t getting continued.
I don’t expect more Godzilla movies from America to happen, the circumstances that allowed 2014 to be made aren’t present anymore and toho’s most recent projects have done pretty well in they’re main target.

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 2:38 PMWelp, the MonsterVerse is continuing with Godzilla seemingly returning. But, WB's involvement in the future is in question now....

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 3:55 PMWHATTT? This makes no sense, no word from Legendary, WB or Toho? It’s definitely something to keep watching for.

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 3:59 PMYeah, it is. At least Legendary has involvement in it though.

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 4:02 PMYeah, here we go...

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 4:03 PMUPDATE: The series mainly connects to Godzilla 2014, but is said to be taking place after the events of Godzilla Vs. Kong. That makes sense, since the Titans are (sort of) active now.

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 4:23 PMAt least? You realize that legendary is what kicked off MV!!

MemberGiganJan-20-2022 4:27 PMYeah, but I was worried of a possible reboot.

MemberGiganJan-24-2022 9:01 AMI see. Interesting how a Godzilla vs Hedorah short film for an anniversary becomes monsterverse
