AdminGodzillaJul-05-2017 11:34 AMHere we'll update the top of the page with the latest Monarch videos being released on Twitter and Facebook. So far it seems like a new event is being shared every week. If anyone is able to get some decent screenshots of other events on the timeline, by all means, share away. It's pretty clear that at the pace they're going, something may be revealed at Comic Con 2017.
VIDEOS:
1) 1915 - Splitting of the Atom / 1946 - Monarch Founded (released 6/21)
2) 1973 - Mission: Skull (released 6/28)
3) 1991 - Isla de Mona (released 7/5)
4) 2017 - Monster Zero (released 7/12)
KEY TIMELINE EVENTS:
1915 - SPLITTING OF THE ATOM -
Albert Einstein's general theory of relativity ultimately leads to the splitting of the atom and the dawn of the atomic age. The epoch-defining stage in human evolution will act as a beacon that awakens ancient superspecies sustained by nuclear energy.
1943 - THE U.S.S. LAWTON INCIDENT - [incomplete entry]
[Godzilla attacks the U.S.S. Lawton] Haunted by the memory of that day, Randa will go on to become MONARCH's foremost operatives, searching for the truth behind ancient creatures that exist beneath the surface of the world.
1946 - MONARCH FOUNDED -
After the cover-up of the U.S.S. Lawton incident, President Truman unofficially establishes "MONARCH unit", a small, off-book research team established to engage in the systematic study of "Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organisms". Privately, many of Truman's allies question the validity of the group's theories and work to keep their existence secret.
1952 - THE GREAT SMOG OF LONDON -
Baffling meteorologists and defying atmospheric physicists, this unexplained phenomenon saw London's streets overwhelmed by huge clouds of air-polluting smoke. MONARCH theorizes that the beating wings of a giant creature could have created an anticyclone that unleashed airborne pollutants across the city.
1959 - SIBERIAN MYSTERY -
At the height of the Cold War, aerial photography taken from a Russian spy plane reveals a huge containment facility established around an ice cap in Siberia. The MONARCH symbol can be seen emblazoned across the canopy of the structure.
1973 - MISSION: SKULL -
MONARCH surreptitiously Landsat and the 2st Aviation Brigade, 3rd Assault Helicopter Company, to mount an expedition to the mythical "Skull Island" in an uncharted corner of the South Pacific. Encountering the god-like superspecies known as Kong, they soon discover that mankind does not belong here.
1991 - ISLA DE MONA -
The covert MONARCH team establishes a quarantine zone around the island's dormant volcano, under the guise of 'environmental research'. Over the coming years what began as a small scientific outpost will expand to become a full containment facility around the mouth of the volcano.
1995 - RETURN TO SKULL ISLAND -
MONARCH security officer Aaron Brooks defies his father Houston Brooks and leads an off-the-books mission to Skull Island, to determine what has become of Kong since the 1973 expedition.
1999 - JANJIRA MELTDOWN -
2005 - A MYSTERIOUS MERCENARY -
Former British Army Colonel and MI-6 agent Jonah Alan is locked up in Pakistani prison after an encounter with MONARCH agents. Alan and his band of mercenary accomplises were caught trying to breach the walls of a subterranean M.U.T.O. dig-site.
2009 - TEMPLE OF THE MOTH -
Mythographic studies of Chinese temples leads MONARCH to the high-altitude jungles of the Unnan Province. Dr. Emma Russell and her team follow a mysterious bio-acoustic signature to a previously undiscovered megalithic temple, within which lies a gigantic cocoon. A quickening heartbeat is detected inside.
2012 - MESSAGE IN A BOTTLE -
Days before retirement, MONARCH veteran Houston Brooks receives a coded message from his son. The mission to Skull Island has revealed dramatic new information about Kong's origins, and his role on the island.
2014 - THE BATTLE OF SAN FRANCISCO -
The existence of giant superspecies is revealed to the world as Godzilla clashes with the two M.U.T.O.s in the center of San Francisco. Unleashing devastation upon the urban center, the world watches as Godzilla defends our world and restores balance to the natural order. The time has come for MONARCH to step out of the shadows.
2016 - MONSTER ZERO -
When MONARCH discover an extraordinary superspecies sealed beneath the Antarctic ice sheet, Dr. Vivienne Graham leads the effort to build a covert containment and research facility around the dormant creature. Her classified field notes contain a mysterious footnote: "The devil has three heads."

MemberTitanosaurusJul-11-2017 3:21 AMYeah, not really. They awakened something alright in 1954, because Godzilla was up and about before then and he was probably intrigued by this weird nuclear "thing", the U.S.S. Nautilus.
The U.S.S. Lawton incident happened in 1943.Then we have MONARCH being established by President Truman in 1946 to track down and study Godzilla specifically. They were tracking him beforehand, and awakened him in 1954 with the Nautilus, bringing him to the Pan-Pacific Proving Grounds.
The two aren't mutually exclusive. The simple solution is that they awakened him in 1954, one of the times when he was asleep, when he was awake beforehand.
Simple composite timeline:
> Godzilla awakens in 1943 and attacks the U.S.S. Lawton, leading to the U.S. government covering it up
> Hiroshima is bombed in 1945, drawing in Godzilla and thus prompting Truman to sign off on MONARCH to track and destroy him
> The U.S.S. Nautilus, in its course to track down Godzilla, awakens him with its nuclear technology in 1954, which allows General Douglas MacArthur to field Operation: Lucky Dragon, Castle Bravo to the Pentagon and the public

AdminGodzillaJul-11-2017 12:16 PMBut in the film they act and explain 1954 as if it was the first time they had run in to Godzilla. The rest is just desperate fan conjecture to connect the dots at best.

The King of the Monsters
MemberBaragonJul-11-2017 3:39 PM^ Strangely enough though, it would appear Kong: Skull Island retcons the "1954" line, much like it did for the founding of Monarch. The U.S.S. Lawton was sunk in 1943, and according to Vogt-Roberts' commentary in the film's special features, it was Godzilla who sank it. Originally, Randa was meant to show pictures of Godzilla during the scene where he discusses the shipwreck, but it was changed because Vogt-Roberts felt it was "too on the nose" and he wanted audiences to figure it out for themselves. So if that's the case, Godzilla was active prior to 1954, which would reconcile a very small part of the discrepancies between Godzilla and Awakening. I still don't think it fully redeems Awakening, but it's apparent at this point Kong has retconned some of what was established in the history given in Godzilla.
I think Durp's explanation of everything is spot-on. Legendary goes out of its way to avoid treating all of Awakening as canon, as it was written very detached from the film and before the MonsterVerse was a thing. Legendary is most likely going back and picking elements introduced in Awakening to bring them into the official canon, but like Durp said they are intentionally leaving out large parts of it.

MemberTitanosaurusJul-11-2017 4:06 PMTBH I actually forgot about Randa mention the Lawton, cool to see that it was Godzilla that sank it. That's also pretty cool as it shows that he's attacked military vehicles before and he can do it again.

Godzilla Generations was a beautiful game! I loved the fact that there's a laser cannon inside of Dr. Serizawa's eyepatch.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-12-2017 3:32 PMWell this completely proves TheTruthisOutThere is a fraud as I've been saying. He's claimed on multiple occasions that Ghidorah would be in Siberia, and Legendary has revealed he's in Antartica, on the other side of the globe.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-12-2017 4:03 PM@Fanzilla, he also said the monsterverse will be prevalent at SDCC this year, and there is no Godzilla at all this year. LOL

AdminGodzillaJul-12-2017 8:34 PMThis image of the timeline hints at Mothra (Temple of the Moth) and insinuates that she has already cocooned herself. It also recaps, "the Battle of San Francisco" which is a pretty cool name for the event in 2014.

MemberTitanosaurusJul-14-2017 6:03 AMYou know, the whole "1954 retcon" isn't actually a retcon. The special features on the DVD release of Godzilla (2014) already implied that Godzilla was responsible for several ships being attacked and sunk in the pacific during the 1940s.
The 1943 U.S.S. Lawton incident is just a more specific part of that. The line about "awakening in 1954" is mostly for the drama, and can actually be quite mundanely explained, as I already have. They woke him up in 1954 after losing track of him, and woke him up trying to find him after he went back to sleep.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-14-2017 8:56 PMHi fellow members, I was able get a few more of the texts mainly of 1995 and 1999 but I am still missing 1944. I put them into a google doc this way I don't clog up the thread with one long post.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-16-2017 3:00 PMThe director of godzilla 2 said godzilla vs hedorah was one of his top 5 godzilla movies, so the 1952 smog incisdent in London has to do with hedorah I bet. Also ghidorah is not in Siberia it is in the Antarctic so there is another monster there.

Fanzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-16-2017 3:08 PMI looked up the actual Great Smog of London and now I don't think it has to be a toxic creature responsible for it, just something winged.
The great smog wasn't caused by additional pollution being introduced to the atmosphere, it was just the normal pollutants in London such as from cars and factories but due to adverse weather they just sort of hung in the air instead of drifting up or blowing away. Perhaps this odd air condotions was just caused by Rodan or some other monster's wings keeping all the pollution in the area rather than a kaiju polluting it more.

Gowhaletours
MemberMothra LarvaeJul-16-2017 5:27 PM1954- that was the director of Godzilla vs kong not Godzilla 2. Also, hesitant doesn't have wings.

MemberBaragonJul-17-2017 12:20 PMCould the Serbia research station in 1959 be Godzilla frozen?

The King of the Monsters
MemberBaragonJul-17-2017 8:36 PMThe research station is in Siberia, not Serbia. And I doubt it's Godzilla, or at least not Godzilla himself. Godzilla was active in the South Pacific prior to 1954, and then reappeared in the Pacific in 2014. I doubt he somehow ended up frozen in Siberia in 1959. The possibility of it being the remains of another member of Godzilla's species is always there, and I'm curious to see what it really is.

AdminGodzillaJul-22-2017 5:36 AMWell this past Wednesday was the first Wednesday in three weeks we didn't get a Monarch Timeline video. Either something is being saved for Comic Con (or we already got it in the form of the Skull Island walk through) or they're spacing things out from now on. Warner Bros. has a panel today in a few hours--We'll see.

riggzamortis86
MemberTitanosaurusJul-27-2017 9:15 AMThey are most likely goin to introduce a new kind of MUTO. I hope its a classic G foe but I have a feeling they want to introduce a new monster.
YOU.....DUMBBELL!

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-27-2017 9:21 AM^It would be cheaper.

riggzamortis86
MemberTitanosaurusJul-27-2017 2:19 PMyeah plus I noticed that in K:SI that they really wanted to show off Legendary's MonsterVerse style of making kaiju's. they had a plethora of classic Toho kaijus they could of thrown in there, for example in the trailer when I saw that giant spider I got excited because I thought they where going to feature Kumonga! but they had a pretty neat theme of the flora/fauna MUTO's on the island. that was pretty cool idea. but I think for anything more Godzilla related they should try to appeal to us the fans a little more. I hope they can.
for example in GVK, if Godzilla did visit skull island, he would hafta travel by sea right? and the island is surrounded by that storm right? I think it would be neat if Godzilla had to go through the storm and in that storm would be Ebirah in the water. since we never see them having to travel off the island in a water vessel, maybe that's why no can leave by using a water vessel. Ebirah is out there in the storm. So Godzilla can have a fun quick battle with him. that would be so cool to throw that in there. for us fans. we would get it.
YOU.....DUMBBELL!

The King of the Monsters
MemberBaragonJul-27-2017 2:32 PMThe issue is that Legendary needs to pay Toho for the rights to these classic kaiju, and most likely meet a list of requirements for their portrayal on top of it. Legendary decided to acquire Mothra, Rodan and King Ghidorah, but I doubt they'd find it cost-effective or necessary to acquire several more obscure kaiju like Ebirah, especially if they're only going to make a quick cameo. It'd be a lot cheaper and easier for Legendary to introduce new original monsters, as they've already done.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJul-27-2017 3:22 PM^All of this.
We need to remember Legendary doesn't exactly have free reign. Toho will continue to breathe down the neck of whoever is borrowing their property after 1998. IDW had a hell of a time with it during their comic run and many North American DVD/Blu-ray distributors find Toho impossible to work with when it comes to Godzilla. I really doubt it's a vast gulf different with Legendary.
