As it has been confirmed multiple times, we all now know that Mothra will be taking the stage with Ghidorah, Godzilla and Rodan in Edwards' next film in his Godzilla series. With this as the case, I am curious as to how Edwards' Godzilla would match up against the earliest incarnation of Mothra - that from the Showa era. This exercise in supposition will hopefully help us glean some form of idea regarding the power Edwards' Mothra will possess - for that is what lies at the heart of this discussion. In the end, I am extremely curious if Showa Mothra would stand a chance at defeating Godzilla '14 - both in larval and adult form. As always, your thoughts and conjecture concerning this topic are most appreciated, even if you choose to keep them to yourself. :)

MemberBaragonApr-03-2016 8:26 PMIf we're going with just showa probably Godzilla 2014 if only because of the huge size discrepancy. While the adult might last a while if G14 tripped on the larva he would probably crush it. Mothra isn't really a powerhouse outside of Leo who is God tier. She usually is the underdog and due to circumstances wins the fight. Whether that be larvas outsmarting Godzilla or having Battra or MechaGodzilla there for help.
Since everytime an adult Mothra has fought Godzilla save once in 92 they've been aged and close to dying. I don't expect Mothra to really ever be able to 1v1 a Godzilla straight up and come out ahead. We saw is SOS she could put up a fight, and be a great contender, but overall in terms of sheer power and size she comes up short.
