How powerful will Shin-Gojira's Atomic Breath be?

"Shin" represents "true,new,and God." The director's have said that they want "Shin" to represent all three words. 

As for the atomic breath, I say it will be the classic mix of blue and white and will be very destructive. Probably more destructive than the heisei Godzilla series excluding the spiral ray. Hard to say for now but, with the words "true,new, and most importantly, God " representing this Godzilla, I'm pretty sure that's what Shinji Higuchi and Hideaki Anno want. 

I don't think the new Godzilla's breath should be highly destructive, but rather the focus should be on scary.

What if instead of causing everything to explode, his breath decayed living matter? Caused horrible burns and boils, revealing the skeleton after enough exposure. 

KINGKAIJUGOJIRA - I believe that Shin-Gojira's breath attack is likely going to be somewhat in line with that of the original Godzilla's - incredibly destructive, but not ridiculously catastrophic. My hope is that the new incarnation of Godzilla will sport an atomic breath that is capable of melting metal and setting fire to easily-ignited material - much like the initial flash of an atomic detonation conentrated in a small area. Regardless, this was a very fun topic upon which to ponder! :)

In accordance with his 'nightmare' nature, Godzilla's Atomic Breath should be highly destructive, bluish-white and extremely powerful. His dorsals should light up, becoming incandescent, turning night into day, illuminating the immeadiate area he's in. They should crackle, with an electric sound, ala GMK-Goji.

In addition to this, Godzilla's steps should be thunderous, earth shaking.

I hope the design is reminiscent of the Shodai-Goji (1954), but updated and made even more malevalent.

I'm really excited about Shin Gojira. I have, just intuitively, a really great feeling about this Godzilla.

Well Huge-Ben, you're basically saying his breath will be like an H-bomb everytime lol. I don't think they're going to make it that hax, cause that would be just overkill. To be honest, they seem to supremely love the 1954 Gojira. It makes sense that because of that he isn't going to be that far away from the power level of the 1954 Godzilla. A worst nightmare doesn't have to be endless destruction that nothing can even stand a sliver of a possibility of a chance against, it can be something like the original 1954's beam.

Isn't that what gave him the abilities to be death incarnate to begin with? I mean, just because they are basing his design off of the 54' shodaigoji doesn't imply that they won't make him on the same power level GorillaGodzilla. 

If "Shin" is representing true, new and God at the same time, what should that tell you? 

I think the Atomic Breath Weapon should be a solid beam, not liquid-like in any way whatsoever. And it should be powerful, causing great damage. As I said earlier, an prolonged build-up of energy in the dorsals would be nice, with this build up causing the area to be illuminated. Then, a powerful burst of energy. To make the use of the Atomic Breath Weapon more meaningful, it should be used sparingly. This way, when used, it's an event, not just something expected in a Godzilla film, or a box that was checked when going down the Godzilla Movie Authentication Checklist.

I definitely feel that the latest iteration of the atoic breath should play off of my original idea when we were speculating about Legendary's movie. A pure white beam of atomic energy, but instead of blasting things into explosions, it simply melts and/or vaporizes everything. Similar to ShodaiGoji's atomic breath, only the scale is cranked up to an extremely high degree.

And, to pay ultimate tribute, it should be PURE white. Basically, when this beam is even NEAR YOU, you get flash-vaporized like as though an atomic bomb just hit, leaving the iconic person outline to really drive home this point. Anything caught within the blast itself is simply gone from existence, leaving a red-hot ring where the beam used to be.

I'm just saying, his beam doesn't have to be uber-hax to be terrifying. The original Godzilla's beam wasn't overpowered, but was it not terrifying? In my opinion, Gojira's beam was by far the scariest of all the Godzilla's. It melted and turned solid steel into mush.

Personally I don't think of his breath as a big aspect of being my worst and greatest nightmare. The ships in War of the Worlds had rays that incinerated whatever they hit but I was never particularly scared of them. 

Hopefully this movie goes in depth into what a lot of movies outside the original and Godzilla Returns gloss over and that's the severe radiation poisoning you can get just being in his presence. The slow painful death and side effects from that would be much more scary than him shooting beams at people. It also gives him an omnipotent feel. He brings death where ever he goes, regardless of how destructive he actually wants to be. He's like a moving indestructable plague, then if he's ever attacked and needs to use the breath something along GMK would be equivalent to the power I'd expect him to have.

I hope it's something new and original. I like some of the ideas being tossed about here, and dislike some others. It really shouldn't be a "beam." I'm tired of beams. If it was going to be another Godzilla superhero brawl, then sure, have at the beams. But this is said to be a horror film, and while Godzilla Returns used the beam, it did it to great effect, but it was also the first time we ever saw it done so well with the special effects available at the time. Before that, it was just a cartoonish animation.

I like the idea of it being a bluish white mist/flame that simply spreads the radiation and melts things on contact. I've seen movies and cartoons attempt to show what happens during a nuclear flash and, while gruesome, I can't believe they come close to the real thing. Give us that. Imagine the horrifying imagery.

While it was impressive at the time, the atomic blast in GMK was a bit overdone because it never happened again... same with Godzilla 2014's tsunami. And plus, as Indiana Jones taught us, if you're in the path of a nuclear blast... just jump in your fridge and, hey, you survived Godzilla.

WOLFGUY - Hahaha! Indeed; Dr. Jones is the one human being with any chance at surviving a direct encounter with Godzilla! I agree with your thoughts that Shin-Gojira's breath should be a flame or radioactive mist/plasma. That would certainly be much more unsettling! :)
