MemberMothra LarvaeMay-27-2015 4:49 PMSo I went to Gamestop to ask about and preorder the upcoming Godzilla game for PS4, and the guy there said some things that I already knew, but he told me 2 things that I never heard from anywhere else. One thing he told me was that there would be a map customization mode where you could build your own city to create and, as he said, "Godzilla up," in game. I'm not entirely sure how customizable this supposed editor will be, so I don't know if it's restricted to placing buildings and structures down or what. The other thing he told me was that Miregoji (or whatever one was in Spacegodzilla), Burning Godzilla, and Legendarygoji will not be the only Godzilla's in the game; in fact, he said that ALL Godzillas will be in the game. I don't know if this means like some Showa, Heisei, and Millenium designs, or literally ALL the Godzilla designs, and how they would be ny different.
Now, let me refer you back to he title. Take note that these are RUMORS, and should be treated as such. Whether what he said was information he got due to the company's deal with Bandai Namco, or he was just told lies by somebody else, I don't know. We probably won't know until Gormaru Island says othewise. However, if this is true, this is amazeballs.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-28-2015 12:16 PMEh, it's coming from a single unofficial source.
I'd take it with a grain of salt.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-28-2015 6:55 PMGetting the liscenses for every Godzilla incarnation implies a horrible amount of money. I really doubt about this part. Maybe there could be more Godzillas, specially the first one and Godzilla 2000 because they are the most iconics; but still too beauty to be true.
And the Heisei desing actually used in game, it closer in look to the Biogoji version (from Biollante movie) than Moguegoji (Space Godzilla film)

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-28-2015 8:17 PM^ Actually, by simply purchasing the rights to Godzilla, Bandai Namco has the rights to any incarnation of Godzilla to be used in the game. It's not a matter of cost, it's a matter of time, since adding every single incarnation without making them just clones of each other would take a lot of time and effort.
And the Heisei Godzilla in-game is said by the creators to be a blend of the BioGoji and BatoGoji designs. The Burning Godzilla model is however based on MogeGoji.

AdminGodzillaMay-28-2015 8:35 PM^Yup. If I recall it's how things worked out for NECA as well. All they did was buy the rights to "Godzilla" that opens the door for any film incarnation really.
Specialty incarnations gets a little wonky, since apparently Toho shot down Super Godzilla and Ghost Godzilla toys. But seeing as those had prefix names before Godzilla makes me wonder if they had to buy different license to those.
Anyway I doubt the rumor is true. Getting the rights is no issue because the "Godzilla" trademark covers all of those incarnations. Making them on the other hand would be far more time consuming. I doubt we'll see more Godzillas than the ones revealed already.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-28-2015 9:30 PM^ I think Toho has some sort of policy against creating merchandise for kaiju that never appeared in a film. Either way, I also heard they denied a Marvel and Hanna-Barbera figure by NECA too.
But I think maybe one more Godzilla incarnation could be feasible for the game, probably Godzilla 1954. I'd much rather see another monster though, like Anguirus, Rodan, or even Battra.
Also, the fact that purchasing the rights to a monster grants the rights to all incarnations of the monster is the very reason why so many recent forms of media have included all three Mechagodzillas. They're a great value because each one is essentially like its own character, but a company gets all three for the prive of one.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-28-2015 9:39 PMThe King of the Monsters › Seriously? Back then during the time of the development of Atari Godzilla games I read they had copyrights restrictions about Godzilla incarnations, for example of how many of them could use. If anything changed in policies it will be good for future game. Anyway, maybe Bandai has contacts too that could favore Namco. We know the toy line.
And really? Did Neca plan to release Hanna Barbera GOdzilla? I think that could be a funny figure, and one of a kind!!

AdminGodzillaMay-29-2015 2:42 PMIf Toho gave Atari restrictions on which Godzilla incarnations they could use it likely didn't have anything to do with licensing and more to do with Toho's fickle attitude on how Godzilla should be portrayed for marketing reasons. This has been an issue we can trace back since the 80s...

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeMay-29-2015 4:50 PM^ Especially since that was in the aftermath of G.I.N.O., and convinced Toho to become even more strict with how foreign companies portrayed Godzilla. They still act that way with IDW.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-30-2015 1:44 PMIf its then i would love to see mosugoji, kiryugoji, shodai goji, megarogoji and milleniumgoji

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeMay-30-2015 2:31 PMI'd really like to see at least one Showa design (preferably not ShodaiGoji, but it's the most likely). And as for Millennium designs, I'd like to see either GMK or KiryuGoji, who I'm surprised isn't in the game since he is essentially Toho's flagship design for Godzilla nowadays.

AdminGodzillaMay-30-2015 3:20 PMToho tends to flip-flop between the Heisei design and Kiryu-Goji as their leading look for Godzilla.
I think Kawakita's involvement and the fact that 3+ S.H. Monsterarts Heisei Godzillas were released contributed to it being the main design in the new game.

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeMay-30-2015 3:47 PM^ Recently they've really been flip-flopping on that. Toho Studios is decked out with images and statues of the Heisei Godzilla, and most of the various Godzilla-related landmarks around Tokyo feature the Heisei Godzilla. Yet for the recent 60th anniversary ceremony at Toho studios, Godzilla himself was in attendance but portrayed by a replica of the KiryuGoji suit.
