King Of The Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-12-2015 1:42 PMI did a little series back called Legendary Origins, and I basically made new improvements to classic toho kaiju for them to fit in the new Godzilla universe. I suddenly stopped due to college and all that baloney, but I'm back and reviving the series.
Although my first topic isn't exactly an origin I wondered how Godzilla's main antagonist King Ghidorah will actually be made more realistic in the new franchise. I severely doubt he will come from space because Gareth is probably going for realism again, so what exactly will it be? I'm lost on thoughts except maybe he was in the prehistor era as well, and maybe an experiment gives him the three heads. I want to hear your thoughts on me 're starting the series, and I'll catch you all next time...

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeMar-12-2015 3:33 PMMaking King Ghidorah be from space does not automatically ruin the realism of the film. It all comes down to how he is presented. If King Ghidorah were the pawn of alien invaders like in the Showa series, then yes it would be difficult to integrate him into the new universe. But if he simply comes from space through mechanisms that we as humans cannot fully understand and is presented as a cryptic mysterious being, then it can be handled in a serious and grounded way.
I would honestly be disappointed if King Ghidorah were not from space. He needs to be the antagonist, and at the same time be a sort of foil for Godzilla. What better way to make Ghidorah the opposite of a defender of the balance of nature on Earth than to make him an extraterrestrial creature that arrives on Earth simply to destroy, kill, and disrupt the natural order?

Something Real
MemberGodzillaMar-12-2015 10:49 PMKINGOFTHEMONSTERS - As many have already stated, I would greatly enjoy seeing King Ghidorah arrive via a cosmic origin. Of course, "realism" is all a matter of context; as I type this response, NASA and multiple other space agencies are prerparing joint mining operations on comets and asteroids thousands of miles distant from Earth! That sort of prospect was solely Science Fiction less than 20 years ago! Perhaps King Ghidora lies dormant upon one such asteroid - an interstellar traveler of unknown and ancient origin awaiting the moment in which it is awakened by the tamperings of foolish creatures such as humans! Who knows? Perhaps King Ghidorah is permeated on the subatomic level with electromagnetic energy, granting it the ability to exist within the vacuum of space and emit powerful blasts of concentrated photon particles - organic lightning! :)

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-13-2015 11:32 AMYou people do realise that there is only one way to pull off king ghidora as well as make him realistic when it comes to how he gets here.
You would have to throw him in apophis make the movie start in 2036 and make it so that apophis is going to hit earth and you just made the perfect realistic entry for king ghidora that has ever existed.

MemberMothra LarvaeMar-13-2015 3:22 PMSpace origin will always work for Ghidorah, but if there'd be attempts to recreate a different version of him, how about this:
1) Much like Godzilla, Ghidorah is a last survivor of an ancient species of giant creatures who inhabited Earth aeons ago. During time, the species evolved further and became what old nations knew as dragons and another similar beasts of myths and legends. This last remaining ancestor of them lies hibernant deep beneath ice crust in Antarctica, and some research works will awake him.
2) Modern studies reveal a shocking fact that a lot of mythological creatures were in fact existing species of animals, now extinct. Well preserved remains of several such creatures will be uncovered and DNA will be retrieved. Genetic engineers will study the genome of northern golden dragon, which was known for an extremely long lifespan, and of Greek hydra, which was known for extremely efficient regeneration. DNAs of those two creatures are spliced to create a hybrid bearing genes for both the long lifespan and fast regeneration. Unfortunately, this newly created creature grows rapidly and becomes uncontrollable, and finally breaks loose. It's up to Godzilla to fix this great mistake of humanity...
I just don't know how to explain these Ghidorahs spitting electricity from their mouths...
