MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2014 9:20 PMNo, just no that horror from 98 spit on the name godzilla, while the 14 isn't the best godzilla film it did bring godzilla back into the light in a great way. To say these to films are the same is saying a dirrty tin can has the same value as a fresh silver medal

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2014 9:42 PMHow dare you compare 98' to 2014. You know the only similarity between these two films? CORRECTION: between 2014 and that thing Mr. Emmerich puked out? 'Murica! Thats it!
I? I am a monument to all of your sins.

MemberBaragonDec-28-2014 9:54 PMLol I liked it some are pretty off base but a few are right on the money

Super Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2014 9:54 PMWell this forum could catch some heat... Although many scenes are similar within this video, the difference is, one movie has Godzilla and the other does not.

The King of the Monsters
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-28-2014 9:58 PMThere's very obvious parallels between the films and some extremely similar scenes, but at least the new one takes itself more seriously and tries to be an actual good movie that stays true to the titular character.

MemberGodzillaDec-29-2014 4:20 AMCOUCHTOMATO - Welcome to the site! That video was very interesting! Some of the instances were definately comprable; however, I feel that the creators of the compilation you have presented were reaching just a bit too far in some instances. Regardless, this was very fun to watch! Thank you so much for taking the time to share this with us! :)

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2014 7:06 AMActually many of this are valid, no mater how much some hate to admit it, but 98' shares similarities to the new movie, it even has some similarities to the original

Sparkzilla14
MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2014 7:44 AMIf there's any similarities it because of American Cinema cliques. For some reason Hollywood thinks it always has to have a love interest somewhere in their films and the plot suffers because of that. The narrator of the video clearly stated he likes the 98' version much more, sounds and looks like a 98' fanboy who was irritated about how much better the 14' film was and reached really far to get a comparison list to show that the 14' film "copied" his beloved 98' film.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2014 9:14 AMMan, whole lot of childish reactions from the G-Fans in here. Guess I shouldn't expect anything else, though.
Some of these comparisons are pretty spot on, though a lot of it was a bit reaching, or ignoring other facts about G'14.
I can understand why he liked G'98 better. Unlike what Sparkzilla14 believes, I don't think this is a G'98 fanboy. I don't think he's a fan of Godzilla at all, really. Like a lot of us, he was a kid when G'98 came out and he was fond of it because little kids aren't as critical as adults when it comes to their entertainment. Only a Godzilla fan would care if G'14 is more of a 'true' Godzilla movie than G'98. Most people are only concerned if it's entertaining or not.

AdminGodzillaDec-29-2014 9:44 AMStuff like the opening sequence or Godzilla's fins plowing through the water are similar shots, yes, but the story comparison are a couple of arm stretches outside the car. Are both main characters rather uninteresting? Yes, but that's where their similarities end as the story arcs are vastly different. Not to mention the tone in which the characters are written for both films are polar opposites.
Don't really care which movie he was a fan of, there was simply a whole lot reaching and pinning coincidence in the video. For all the problems I have with G'14, being similar to GINO isn't one of them. I do find it funny he made an account practically to troll the fanbase though. Out of all of this I enjoy that act the most for rather unobvious reasons in fact.

MemberMothra LarvaeDec-29-2014 12:27 PMInteresting, but this not something groundbreaking.
You can do this with pretty much any film. If you look for simularities, you'll find them. Simple as that.
The difference really is that G14 was a FAR better movie than Z98. There's no denying that.
Break it down:
Godzilla 2014
+ Godzilla
+ 2 Additional Monsters
+ Monsters that attack instead of ducking cover
+ Smarter military
- Less Screentime for Big G
Zilla 1998
- Giant Iguana instead of Godzilla
- Characters you want to kill rather than characters that may be just bland
- Monsters that usually run away rather than go on the offensive
- Stupid as sh*t military
+ More monster screentime
Questions?.....No?
Good.

My point in this video as well as all my other vids...you can't hate one movie for certain plot points and love another for employing those same plot points..
