Although we're not facing a kaiju/toku drought anymore, as we wait for new Godzillas, Pacific Rim 2 and Kong lets indulge in one of Godzilla's most successful children. The Ultraman franchise. Unfortunately, the Ultraman franchise has recieved the short end of the stick in North America, but this thread aims to point you to the right direction to view them.

Only official links will be posted. Unofficial links will be removed immediately. Updates will be made for both future Ultraman series/films and if more are released in North America. Enjoy.

I mean, most of those will never see release here, but there they are for the sake of completion. ;)

Are those the shorts/commercials/minor specials? I'm mostly staying away from those and am considering abandoning the "compilation" movies section. Who wants those if we end up getting the series, you know?

Thats a good point... some of them are original productions, like Ultra Q: The Movie and Ultraman: The Adventure Begins, but a lot are short films and specials.  Many were compilations of episodes that played in Japanese theaters in the 1970s and 1980's.  You could keep them for the sake of completion, but they would be redundant if the series came out.

Actually thanks for the reminder of Towards the Future, Powered and Neos. I think I'm going to skip out on Nice as it was mostly just ads and stick to bigger releases. I've decided to remove the endless plethora of compilation movies-- Some of which are lost even in Japan.

Good plan.  Its way too confusing, now that I think about it.  How about the side stories?

I sort of lump the cinematic side stories in the same category. For example, Zero's side story adventures could take a long thread up itself and even I don't bother to keep up with them. They're better adverts than anything. I'd rather stick to series and films.

Sweet!  Lets hope more of these things get releases in some capicity in the US.  Crunchyroll and Shout! Factory are our only hopes, it seems.  I actually didn't know Ultraman 80 was streaming, so I definitely need to check that out!

Kaijusaurus,
Nor is it Kong-movies or Gamera-movies, but those come up a lot. Ultraman is an important example of everything Godzilla influenced and a general kaiju franchise. It fits just as well as the other kaiju series/films brought up on this forum.

Besides, as we wait for future kaiju films it's excellent to expand horizons of the genre in which this gives you the chance to do.

@Gman2887, thanks so much for doing this. I've always been an Ultraman fan and this is helpful for those series that I've never heard about. Also you forgot Ultraman Nice. He onlt appeared in Bandai commercials, so I understand why he is not added in.

HUGE NEWS on the Ultraman front. Ultraman X will be the first tokusatsu series in history to recieve a worldwide simulcast. Crunchyroll will be airing it on their site. Fans can watch it for free. Check out the details here:

Ultraman X to Simulcast Worldwide on Crunchyroll!

Additionally, both Ultra Q and UltraSeven are now available to watch free on Shout! Factory's streaming site. I've added where you can find them in the original post above.

As it stands, NINE Ultra series (including X) are available to North Americans-- And for free no less. Jump on these streams guys! This is a gift and they should be supported.

I'm so happy that Mill Creek got the rights to all of the Ultra series.
