Should Hans Zimmer be considered as composer for Godzilla 2?

Don't get me wrong, I think Alexandre Desplat did a pretty awesome job composing for Godzilla 2014, even tho i would have liked to hear his version of the Godzilla theme. But, even so, if he were not to compose for Godzilla 2, is Hans Zimmer a good choice for an option? we all know Hans for his amazing music pieces in all of the movies he has composed on, those tracks have become somewhat memorable to many. One theme in particular, "The Kraken" From the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest OST shows a perfect example of his capacity to create amazing music for gigantic creatures. So with this in mind i bring this oppinion: Is Hans Zimmer a good candidate for a future Godzilla 2 or 3 composer? If not, who else do you recommend?

i agree his peices are beautiful but some are also seem a bit lackluster. one of these being the man of steel theme. its just not very memorable. but that aside id like to see him have a crack at godzilla music

Ah, no.

I love Hans Zimmer's pieces, but he's not the one to compose a Godzilla score. I feel he would introduce too many modern aspects into the score, like dubstep and electric guitars (like he did in Amazing Spiderman 2). That's kind of his signature.

Godzilla is much more at home with classical orchestras and maybe one or two retro instruments played at a mediocre level (like whatever tremolo instrument Ifukube mastered in his pieces).

I really hope they get Desplat on board again for the sequels. I want to hear more tracks from him and I feel like he is the perfect choice composer wise.

I don't think Zimmer's the man for the job on this one.

I don't agree it's for the reasons Natezilla presented. Hans Zimmer tends to use sounds based on the type of movie he's scoring and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 gave off a far greater electronic vibe than most of the movies he scores. Man of Steel, another Legendary picture, has electronics, but he uses them as if it were a live orchestra with pounding power and epic sci-fi sensibilities. He's a master at creating interesting sounds if not always melodies.

That being said, I do agree with Natezilla that Godzilla should be more orchestra based to some extent. GMK's electronic score worked, but that's because Ko Otani came from an orchestral background and was able to apply the same mindset to the electronics. Meanwhile, Final Wars was a complete botch...

Plus... As much as I love Hans Zimmer, he's not the only composer in Hollywood who can produce great scores. (And even he doesn't always do it...) It seems like every producer is after Zimmer and if they can't get him they go after one of his clones.

If Desplat were to be replaced I would want Brian Tyler to take over. He's the closest thing we have to Jerry Goldsmith these days and he's rarely delivered a poor score. He's scored a lot of horrible movies, but given each of them Grade A soundtracks due to his rule, "Treat every movie you score like it's the greatest movie ever made." That's the kind of mindset I'd want for Godzilla. A Brian Tyler Godzilla score would be incredible.

recently heard some pieces from Brian, i have to agree he would do a boss job at this, thank you GMAN

tho if it would become a series (if anime, evangelion styled maybe), should Shiro Sagisu (composer of Bleach, Evangelion rebuilds and Black Bullet etc.) or Hiroyuki Sawano?(composer of AoT, Guilty Crown, Sengoku Basara, and many others). Note: This oneis for pure fun, and for a "what if"

I know many of you think that Hans Zimmer would "Inceptionalize" the soundtrack and fill it with electronic percussion and other now common sounds and effects on blockbusters nowadays, but the only thing I ask you is to go see Interstellar and tell me that he is not versatile. The Interstellar soundtrack made me believe again that Hans Zimmer truly is one of the best composer around, since he is capable of reinventing himself completely. That is why I think that even though Alexandre Desplat was not bad at all, a possible cooperation with Hans Zimmer would only benefit them.

Craig Armstrong. His work on The Incredible Hulk was great and he uses more of a orchestra sound. He's who I've always wanted to do the score for these films.

Yeah, Hansis alright, but like Gman said he's not the guy for the job.

I REALLY wanted Michael Giacchino to compose the new movie. Hopefully he'll do the score for the sequel?
