GORMARU ISLAND TALKS: HOW TO CREATE AN ORIGINAL KAIJU/HOW TO SUPPORT YOUR MONSTER
Several fans have personally asked us an interesting question: How do you create an original kaiju and build it up to something great? How do you take care of it?
Questions like these have been answered before dozens of times, some with answers more clarified than others. And we're here to put our own spin on it! ...
1. Know What Monster You Want To Create:
If Dr. Frankenstein has taught us anything, is that if you want to make your own monster, it's gonna get messy, there will be failures, and you might not come out as sane as when you first started all of this. But when it all comes together, you'll be shouting "It's ALIVE" with celebration!
Like any mad scientist, when creating a monster you have to envision what you want to bring to life. A monstrosity of the undead? How about an intergalactic alien beast? Maybe an atomic monster? Does it have multiple limbs? Does it fly? Does it tower over skyscrapers or does it reach them in height? Is it reptilian? Or is it bird-like?
You can't move forward until you know what you want to create in the lab. -Soundwave
2. Find Inspiration BUT DON'T COPY!:
Creating something as your own can be difficult, and realizing something as massive as a kaiju can at times feel overwhelming. You know you have the passion, you know you have the imagination, the power! But you just don't have the keys to get the idea up and running. Finding inspiration can help you with this. Looking at giant monster movies, both classical and new can really help you build your monster.
But again, all of this stems back to knowing what you want to create. If you want to create a giant insectoid kaiju that's born from atomic testings, look at several classical 1950's monster movies to get you going. The 1950's were known as the Atomic Age in cinemas, as radioactive monster movies were constantly being produced from the woodwork. So definitely check out any film based on what your aim is!! But please, don't outright rip off an already established creation. It's rude, disrespectful, and can lead to a downpour of heavy law-suits on your head. OR you know, an angry mob with pitch forks! -Gormaru Omega
3. Bring Your Concepts Together!!
Once you have an idea of what you want to make, and any references you want to invest into your creature, pull the monster from your mind out into reality! If you have paper, or a great computer art program, then craft out your kaiju onto them. DO NOT RUSH. Take your time, always keep focus and always keep a clear mind. Draw it out to the best of your ability. If you mess up, don't worry, just try again. Don't throw away the failed attempt, keep it, it can help you retrace the steps when drawing out your monster again. -STEGZ
4. Don't Be Afraid To Ask Experienced Artists For Help:
Listen, after drawing out your monster, it is important to understand and to accept that the beast you envisioned in your mind will sometimes not be the beast you brought out on paper. Depending on the level of your artistic skillset. If your attempt comes out with unsatisfying results in its final outcome, again, do not throw it away!
It's still your monster whether you see it or not in your eyes. IF you don't like its look, it does not make it a failure, it just means that it is unfinished. Don't throw it out, it can serve as a reference!
In this case, if you have the funds, don't be afraid to look for someone who can help bring out the complete vision of your kaiju. Sometimes mad scientists need a crazy hand to help their monster along. Commissioning experienced artists can help you in this tight spot.

5. IT'S ALIVE!!! How To Make Your Kaiju Bigger Than Life!
Congratulations, your monster is alive and kicking, and it looks absolutely fantastic! A creature truly worthy of the name "Strange Beast"!! Now you maybe wondering, how can I turn it into something huge? How can I support my monster, my passion? Well..This quite simple, but definitely not easy.
IMPORTANT LESSON, once you've created something, that something has life. It has a life of its own. If you want it to live, to become something huge, or potentially to become something that can earn you a career in life. Than you need to support it! Support your monster! Build a world around your kaiju, a life, a story, a name. There will be sacrifice, it will drain you, and you will need to devote a lot of time, effort, and love into making it grow as big as possible. And of course, depending on how far you want to take your monster, it will COST money!!. It's basically your child in a way. If you don't support your kaiju, it won't last long. -Donnie
SIDE TIP: One of the MOST IMPORTANT lessons that many monster creators sadly forget when crafting out their creations:
DON'T FORGET TO HAVE FUN!!! Seriously, have fun, making something as huge and bigger than life as a kaiju can be tiresome and stressful. Creating something from yourself is never easy, but it can be fun, it can enjoyable. People forget this sometimes, but it should always, always, be taken into account. So never forget this. After all, if you aren't having fun, then what's the point of doing anything at all?
Conclusion: Follow these steps and you'll have a monster in the lab in no time! We'll expand on this later on with a second part, but that wraps up the first go-around for now on the matter! We'll pick this up again soon! -Gormaru, Donnie, STEGZ, and Soundwave
