Deep in the mountainous area of the Shinto Shrine, legends speak of a demonic creature that has taken residence there ever since the strange green fog has come from the shrine center. The people who tend to the shrine have said that a great evil has been awoken and has thrown the forces of order and balance into chaos and disarray. No one dares to enter the shrine area now, for those who have tried have turned into stone. Their faces petrified with an fearful grimace that could never have come from seeing anything human, but something not of this world. The Japan Self-Defense Force has been called in to investigate as signs of dangerous creatures have been sighted for several months. A strange creature that appeared in a recently formed lagoon and a flying phantasm over the skies of Japan have put the country on edge, and this may only be the start. The operation to reach the shrine was to take place tonight, over 100 soldiers were to participate in the assault, but no one knew what to expect or what they would encounter.
The operation started at 10:00 on the dot, the soldiers had all surrounded the shrine and were marching straight up towards it. The fog roamed in and the wind calmed. The soldiers could all feel the gaze of something on them as if it were very close, but far at the same time. Just 5 minutes in and the first soldier fired his weapon, then another 2, then ten, then 15. The other soldiers tried to get into contact, but the comms were muffled by the sounds of gun fire and screaming.
“It’s here, it’s here!” one soldier screamed.
“No it’s here, I see it!” another called out.
“It’s too fast. It’s flanking us. Don’t let it get close!! Aaaaaahh” That’s all that was heard for the next 10 minutes.
Only one squad was left consisting of 5 soldiers who had just had it up to the Shrine. There was Lieutenant Colonel Shinjo, Major Jinjo, Major Kira, First Lieutenant Lee, and Warrant Officer Suzaku. They were the last one left and they had spent almost all their ammo to get to the shrine themselves. They were not originally in the same squad but had run into each other after running away from the creature that attacked their squads. Upon reaching the shrine they noticed that it had become run downed. Like something had torn all the beautiful ornaments and streams from the building. The orchid trees looked like they were stone as well, like they were locked in time, as the leaves didn’t move nor did the branched rustle. In the middle of the ruined shrine there was a large statue of what looked like a half lion half dog creature. It stood up on its legs like a man, but had large claws and fur covering its shoulders. The soldiers all looked at it and recognized it as the same thing that attacked their squads. They all sat down to take a breather and had eventually all admitted to have abandoning their squads out of fear of being torn apart like the others. Then, the wind began to pick up and swirled around the shrine like a hurricane in formation. Warrant Officer Suzaku turned around to look at the statue and found that its head had moved. It was looking right at him. The eyes started to glow and a bright red light flashed out. The rest of the squad turned to find Suzaku petrified like the other statues they had come across. The Statue of the creature was no longer stone but alive. Its flesh was like brown armor, while its fur was golden, it stood up now at over 100 feet and roared like a godly lion so loud that they had to cover their ears. The creatures ears stood up like that of a dogs and it rushed the rest of the squad. They all screamed and fired their guns until a sudden silence fell over the shrine.
The next morning sun arose lifting the fog from the area. The command center personnel now ordered the remaining soldiers to quarantine the entire shrine area to everyone until a more suitable solution could be made. But at the sun rose higher into the sky the soldiers and the bystanders who had watched the failed operation were met with a frightening sight. Up on the mountain where the shrine once stood was a large statue of a giant half-lion, half-dog creature with large horns now piercing from the top of its head like a demonic entity. It didn’t move, but its eyes glowed red with the rising sun, as if it was looking down as a for-warning of worse things to come. People say that if you have committed a sin in your life a look away from the statue only to turn back towards it, it will have moved its head or body to face you, for it has targeted you next. But it should be okay as long as you stay off the mountain and away from the shrine… FOR NOW!
Hope you guys enjoy this Halloween story. I know its been a while since the last one, but I’ve been busy with other stuff, but will still continue to do these whenever I can. Please comment on this and tell me if you enjoy the shorter less detailed story to the longer and more detailed ones I’ve done before. Hallows eve is coming closer and so will the more scary monsters!! HAHAHAHAHAAAAAAA!!!
