MemberMothra LarvaeSep-23-2014 6:39 AMAtomic Breath: Sadly we can't really tell much about this power as we never saw it hit anything man made in the films so we don't know if it would make a building explode or just catch ts on fire and melt metal. We did see that two direct continues hits knock the female Muto out. However the Mutos have armor and the female is pretty heavy, would this have been a one hit knock out for an unarmored monster? Would it melt their flesh? Kill them? Send them flying? Does the beam actual have an explosive power and the Muto's armor negates it like how Super-X2's Fire Mirror and Heisei Mechagodzilla's armor stops the explosive power of Heise Godzilla's rays? Can the ray be used long range or is it a medium range weapon?
Unfortunately I feel I will need to either remake or necropost and edit this topic if and when we see this ray finally hit other monster and man made structures.
Now with that being said, we did learn somethings from observations.
This incarnation's charge looks more internal and less like energy glow and more like bioluminecent. In fact the only clue that it's energy building up, initially, is the sound. The charge starts at the spikes on the tip of the tail, sounding like water or some liquid being splashed, after a while the sound changes to an electrical or mechanical sounding hum, as the sound intensifies the rest of the spikes begin to glow, traveling up the back and towards the head till Godzilla fires.
It is interesting to note that the spikes do not stop glowing as he fires unlike other incarnations and in fact some of the spikes flicker as he continuously fires. The nuclear breath is like the 1962 version in that it is not full and looks like fire or napalm. Indeed it "splashes" when it his the Muto and little particles are seeing flickering off of the ray as vapors like it's crude and not a perfectly concentrated ray like later versions.
The charge can be long or short, as Godzilla's charge was much shorter for the Kiss of Death than when he first used it on the female. Possibly it is weaker with less charge but that is hardly an issue when firing inside the unarmored insides of the Muto, destroying organs and bones with the intense heat.
I like the new charge, wish the spikes were brighter. As for the new breath itself, meh I can take it or leave, but I will give them credit for making it look different than past versions and thus giving it it's own identity.

MemberGiganSep-23-2014 6:43 AMHave you ever heard the the Electrical Sack theory?
I say that Godzilla's spikes werent completely bright because the Muto EMP was not only discombobulateing his Atomic breath, but also weakening it, thus his Spikes werent at full brightness.
We should see full brightness in the sequel.
Good grief.

MemberTitanosaurusSep-23-2014 11:11 AMAlso, the novelization proved my theory that this iteration of atomic breath is actually concentrated plasma let loose as a stream from Godzilla's throat. Now, as far as plasma goes, because plasma is basically gas that's been super-ionized, it dissipates quickly with time and distance, so Godzilla's own plasma breath might just be less ranged than other iterations. However, the amount of heat within it, judging from the blueish-white colour, would be several times hotter than the surface of the sun.
That is to say, it's gonna be REALLY FRICKING HOT. I'm surprised the female didn't simply melt under that intense heat, though that would explain why it can permanently destroy her super-regenerative cells.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-23-2014 11:55 AMwould have been nice to see Godzilla use the red spiral but that would take a massive amount of energy to produce but, im glad that the orginal blue beam was implmented into the film.

MemberGodzillaSep-23-2014 2:01 PMALX - Hmmm, how very interesting! I happen to be of the opinion that Godzilla's atomic breath in Edwards' film is quite a bit more powerful than many have surmised. Allow me to expound a bit by utilizing a few estimations. :)
Based on rough estimates, the female MUTO is around 90,000 tons in weight (give or take a few thousand tons). If Godzilla's initial breath attack against the female destroyed roughly 10% of her body mass, that's an incredible 9,000 tons of tissue damage (90,000 x 0.10 = 9,000)! Now, I realize that 9,000 tons is difficult to envision as a static lump of weight, so I'll use something a little more familiar in this next part of the comparison, an Elephant. The average adult, male African Elephant weighs in at approximately 6 tons - a massive animal! However, were Godzilla to unleash his atomic breath (and we utilize the statistics I've given above), he could disintegrate at total of 1,500 African Elephants in one go (9,000 tons divided by 6 tons = 1,500)! That is by no means a small amount of power - even if it was being dampened by the MUTOs' EMP fields! :)

MemberTitanosaurusSep-23-2014 2:54 PMThe female M.U.T.O. is officially 75,000 tons, Something Real C:
Also, you gotta consider the properties of plasma itself when it comes to the new breath attack. Its colour signifies intense heat, as I've said above, MANY TIMES hotter than the surface of the sun. Plus, it's blue-ish. Any hotter, and it'd probably blind you DX

MemberGodzillaSep-23-2014 5:09 PMTHEGMAN123 - Thank you ever so much fot that clarification! I searched about for the female's weight and found listings for 80,000 and 90,000 tons. It's excellent to have a solid weight upon which to base my examples! Thank you!
As for the plasma aspect of Godzilla's breath: yes, I've actually read multiple disertations concerning the properties of plasma. The hottest plasmas mankind can create (within massive magnetic chambers) burn light-violet. It is believed that, were you or I to be within 100 miles of a violet-burning orb of plasma roughly 50ft in diameter, we'd receive 2nd-degree burns! At 50 miles, we'd be blinded and receive 3rd-degree burns and at 25 miles or less we'd actually ignite (and shuffle-off our mortal coil - more or less)! Needless to say, I'd much rather not be on the receiving end of Godzilla's atomic breath! :)

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-23-2014 6:10 PMI think you should all know that this is completely copy-pasted from this thread on tohokingdom.com. ALX, if you aren't Living Corpse, the TK member who wrote this... I can't do anything about it, but not cool, dude.

ALX - Is what LINKZILLA has brought to light true? You can be honest with us.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-24-2014 5:23 AMWell i never have been to that site. but as such i can see why you would think that and i have changed the title as so not to confuse.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-24-2014 5:33 PMLOL. I posted a link to the thread you copy-pasted, you can't somehow fool me into thinking your thread only shared a title with it when I can just look at it and see that the entire thing, word-for-word is exactly the same. Plagiarism, while I think there isn't any actual rule against it in this case, is generally frowned upon. Would it have been so hard to give the person who actually wrote it credit for it?
