MemberMothra LarvaeSep-08-2014 5:02 PMI saw a lot of posts leading up to the film that the Mutos looked too much like the Cloverfield monster. Two things, first do you still think that after seeing the movie and the way they move and fight? And secondly DON'T COMPLAIN! All I ever here is that people want a Godzilla vs. Clover fight, well then we got one, two actually considering there were two Mutos.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-08-2014 5:12 PMI actually thought they were pretty unique. There faces kinda remninded me of Orga and Gigan, which is all kinds of badass. And your right about they way they move. It's fairly unique and uh...orginal (Not redundent at all). Not to mention that badass roar!

I thought they were epic

MemberBaragonSep-08-2014 6:20 PMIn all honesty, I never saw the design for the MUTOs and thought "man, that sure looks like ol' Clovie!". They reminded me much more of Gyaos than anything else. Personally, I thought their designs were inspired. In a world where it feels like EVERY body shape and EVERY design has not only been done before, but done to death, the designers created some pretty unique kaiju that really stole the show in a few sequences... until Godzilla showed up of course! :)

MemberBaragonSep-08-2014 7:28 PMIt's insulting to say the mutos look as bad as clover did. The only similarity they may both use their arms to walk rather than being simpy bipedal

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-08-2014 7:42 PMThe similarities that people see is not necessarily the overall-design, but the the similar attributes, such as the long, stretched out forearms, the shorter hind legs, the multiple disjointed limbs, the "walking on curved claws" thing, and the mangled mouth. That's their connection to Clover.
However, in all honestly, they reminded me more of Starship Trooper Aliens and Xenomorphs, with their elongated heads, black bodies, and square pincer-jaws. Although that may be because I read an article beforehand that had said the designers were inspired by those creatures, so....

AdminGodzillaSep-08-2014 9:35 PMI see the similarities to Clover, but I don't think a lot of it was intentional.
Ultimately, I just don't find the MUTO designs all that interesting. Like Ebirah, Kumonga, Kamackirus or Battra for their respective eras, the MUTO designs are bland products of the current time. They're following popular trends of creatures in Hollywood: Clover, Starship Trooper bugs, the creature that attacked Kirk in Star Trek '09, the alien in Super 8...etc...
They're not awful, but I look at them more like cannon fodder for Godzilla than worthwhile enemies.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-09-2014 3:54 AMI love the Mutos. I love their sleek, out-of-this-world designs. They don't look like creatures from earth, but rather aliens.
I like their eyes most of all. they look like a realistic version of Gigan's visor.

MemberMothra LarvaeSep-09-2014 4:32 AMFor me they look like Clovers bod, gyaos head, orgas mouth, and Gigans hooks
