It was announced at Comic Con in San Diego, at the Legendary booth. Apparently, the second part of the new adaptation will also be directed by Gareth Edwards, and as highlights, boasting some of the most feared and destructive enemies; Rodan and King Ghidorah. The appearance of Mothra was also announced, we assume that as in the old movies, will be the key ally to defeat the two powerful monsters.
You think there will be villains too powerful for a single movie? Too many monsters can lead to excessive destruction, but with a good script can be a great Godzilla movie, especially for the lifelong fan.

MemberAnguirusAug-14-2014 12:34 PMWelcome. I dont see Mothra, Godzilla or anyone actually teaming up on purpose although they are intelligent, probably just trying to take out the monster at the same time

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-14-2014 2:21 PMI don't think Rodan will be one of Godzilla's enemies in this one.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-14-2014 11:43 PMAll three monster licenses have been confirmed, but you are wrong when you say that their "appearances" have been confirmed.
If you actually paid attention to details released by Legendary, no details on their appearances across the next two sequels have been released or confirmed by anyone.
We have no idea which of the three monsters will appear in Godzilla 2, so don't jump to conclusions just because you made the mistake of misreading and misinterpreting information provided thus far. No appearance details have been confirmed. Only the fact that they will make appearances somewhere in the franchise has been confirmed.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-15-2014 2:38 PM@TW_G-FAN2014 The fact that Gareth has said that he wants each film to be a standalone story and to take it one film at a time is pretty much confirmation that all three announced monsters will be in Godzilla 2. Why wouldn't they be anyways? He also said that he hates the sequel hooks that appear at the end of the credits in all the superhero movies these days, and announcing that three monsters will appear in the series and then not having all of them appear in the first sequel would be pretty much the same thing.
