Gabara is the manifestation of nightmares. He dwells in an unknown dimension where dreams are born. He appears in human's dreams and devours their essence through night-terrors. He paralyzes his victims through his electric palms generated by his lightning-horn. As his prey lays frozen in fear, he feasts on that person's soul.
There has been only one instance of Gabara retreating from a dream. When a young boy, Ichiro, was able to conquer the demonic monster by having a dream-Godzilla and his son defeat him. This boy's imagination was so strong, Gabara was no match.
