MemberMothra LarvaeAug-08-2014 8:06 PMFirst off... Let's be civil and let's not state the obvious. (WE WANT MORE GODZILLA)
I, for one, loved the approach of this movie(2014). Seeing the Big G less early on made the end battle all the better! But, now that the cat is out of the bag, there is no need for suspense by absence. Take another approach: suspense by presence! Let me explain. Remember that first big reveal that leaked?
Yeah that one! Godzilla is coming, you're in a building, you hear the footsteps getting closer, then he comes into view. You're terrified; one simple move from him will topple the building you're in.
I'm perfectly fine with focusing on the characters as long as Godzilla and/or other monsters are present and threaten their lives. These monsters are animalistic and a true force of nature. Having characters that you care about get caught in the cross fire, now that's epic. Now I mean more than a building falls and our character screams once(Elle Brody). I'm talking about maybe a scene where our character is in a building, power goes out (no elevator anymore) and they rush to get out, only to have Godzilla smash into the building and topple it onto another building (think Cloverfield) and it's now a fight for survival to get out. All the while the battle of the monsters rages and continues to potentially threaten our character. (stray lightning bolt from Ghidorah or a sonic boom from Rodan)
Now let's talk King Ghidorah! My favorite nemesis of the Big G. This is my only request (cause he'll be badass no matter what) His lightning attack should behave like actual thunder and lightning! I know you all have been in a storm and just watched the lightning and listened to the thunder. Make it like that, quick, powerful, explosive(sound wise), awesome! Just imagine. Oh, better yet... Imagine that in Dolby Atmos!
That's my two cents. What do you all think? What would you like to see in the sequel?

MemberBaragonAug-08-2014 10:09 PMThis is just me, but I don't want Rodan to die, and i have this bad feeling he will.

AdminGodzillaAug-08-2014 10:12 PM^Depends if Toho allows it. The terms and conditions for what could and could not happen with Godzilla was practically a novel. I imagine they're just as protective over their other monsters.
They axed Rodan being blown to hell in Final Wars.

MemberBaragonAug-08-2014 10:15 PMBut that was due to budget and them shooting that scene early and not having the money to remake the costumes for rodan, anguirus and king ceasar. Since they announced 3 monsters for the upcoming sequel and maybe trilogy, I just don't see all of them making it out alive.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-08-2014 10:20 PMI think that it's a good idea to kill mothra. And maybe rodan
There are strong men and weak men. The strong ones are here to keep the weak ones up when ever they fail.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-08-2014 11:13 PMDurpoo4: Actually the producers and Toho didn't want Rodan, Anguirus, and King Cesar to be killeed because they didn't think it would be a good idea for Godzilla to kill his friends.
I want a better plot and human characters. I liked the plot and characters in the 1st movie but this time there needs to be a better plot where the humans don't have to do things for the plot and make it more realistic. I know the military is supposed to be stupid in Gozilla films but there isn't one person in California or any surronding states who know how to disarm the nuke? The only thing I want to keep is Ken and his characters assistant. They need to be the constant in the series and maybe he is the one who caused a Biollante to be made.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-08-2014 11:59 PMI think none of the monsters should die except Ghidorah at the end.
I think this is going to be similar to Ghidorah the 3 headed monster.

AdminGodzillaAug-09-2014 12:02 AMMecha Rodan,
Correct. Godzilla was fighting some iconic monsters, namely Rodan in that scene, and having them brutalized by Godzilla in one last blow didn't sit well with Toho.

MemberBaragonAug-09-2014 12:30 AMI'm not sure everywhere I'm looking says the monsters were intended to be destroyed, but the scene was never filmed to keep the suits for future promotional reasons, and the fact the fight scene with them was filmed early and destroying them would interfere with the budget.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-09-2014 12:31 AMToho is willing to kill anyone except Godzilla. Final Wars is definitve proof of that. (Accept maybe Rodan, Anguirus, and King Caesar since Godzilla more or less KOs them)

MemberTitanosaurusAug-09-2014 7:06 AMWhat i wanna see is a bit more "accurate" representation of the movie in the hype of the teasers and trailers and whatnot. I think we can all agree that whilst Legendary's first outing's marketing really helped to drive the movie forward, it did leave a bit of an inaccurate representation of the movie as a whole. I still liked it, but felt a little....... I don't know........
What we need is more of that darkness we were expecting. It doesn't have to be super-crazy dark, but more of it being shown in the sequel would be nice.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-09-2014 8:23 AMTheGMAN123,
actually I felt we got exactly what the trailers told us we were gonna get except for Bryan Cranston. The only trailer I felt lied to us was the San Diego Comic Con one where they heavily imply that Godzilla would be a force of destruction and would be destroying people not just being the savior of the day.
So what I want from the movie I actually did a video on so I already know, I want a meteor to crash land on earth and it's transmits this wave where it wakes up alot of male Mutos and it wakes up Rodan and Mothra. Godzilla is on his way to find out whats up when ever the group of male Mutos (Let's just say 3) start attacking him and so he need to lay the smack down. This is so they can let fans see Godzilla and the Mutos fight in a good scene where you can see whats going on to shut up the complainers while building up tension for Rodan and Mothra and what else would come out of an meteor? King Ghidorah. Eventually Rodan and Mothra are revealed and they fight or something while Godzilla is still fighting the Mutos and then King Ghidorah gets up and attacks all three of them and then the fianl fight happens between all four of Toho's monsters.

FordBrodyLover99
MemberMothra LarvaeAug-09-2014 9:30 AMAll i want from the sequel is that Gareth keeps doing what he did in the first movie. The style, the look and yes, even the teasing. I really felt like the first movie was written for me only, and maybe its selfish, but i want it too STAY for me.
I mean, some things needs too be done. Ford was a great character. At the start of the movie. The problem is, for most of the movie he is alone. That doesnt work, he cant do anything without anyone too really interract with. So, the main character cant be alone. Hawkins character was kinda useless too.
So really, i dont want much changed, even if it makes selfish.

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-09-2014 12:43 PMMore of the big guy. He's out of the bag, so don't try and shove him back in. However, the new monsters that they use can be teased as much as Edwards wants. I'm just worried that he will try and tease something that's already been shown. I would also like to see how humanity is dealing with the existance of giant monsters. How has our culture changed, world politics, are we actively trying to destroy godzilla again?

MemberMothra LarvaeAug-09-2014 1:59 PMXXS: I hear what you're saying, but I understand why they did it. Cranston was the only marketable name in the whole movie at the time, so of course you're gonna feature him in the adverts to try and spark interest. Of course, that won't be the case with Liz Olsen and ATJ, they'll both see a big jump in recognition after Avengers: Age of Ultron, and so they actually will be able to feature somebody who is the lead in the advertising (or if they find a new lead to play a different character in this), but they didn't have that luxury with this movie.
But yeah, I don't think there's anything more I can add that hasn't already been said by other posters in this thread on how to make the sequel better, except maybe have a divided public opinion story arch on Godzilla, that would add a new dynamic to it to make it interesting.
