MemberMothra LarvaeAug-06-2014 5:11 PMHere's some interesting ideas I had in mind for origins of each of the 3 monsters that have just been announced for "Godzilla 2".
King Ghidorah: centuries ago, an ancient civilization discovered a pod containing 3 nests, each holding a Hydra inside of them. They are hunted down by humans, who attempt to destroy it, fearing it would doom civilization. They then send it it into outer space, trying to protect it. The pod or w/e eventually lands on Mars, at which point, each of the 3 Hydras start feeding off of an extraterrestrial substance on the planet, called Ghidor, which causes them all to merge into a single three-headed dragon, which, of course, then goes on a planet-destroying tear, much like Galactus.
The first humans/atronauts that discovered him, which appears in a "M.U.T.O. Research" vid publicly leaked in the media by some 3rd party in the film, causing mass panic in the process, dub him the "King of Terror" as they watch him literally turn Venus into a geyser, hence him officially getting the name "King Ghidorah" from Monarch. It's basically a vernacular of his "King of Terror" nickname, Ghidor (substance it fed off of basically creating it), and Hydra (creatures that compromised the transformation into the three-headed beast).
Mothra: a genetically-engineered moth (dubbed a MUTO) created by the expanded Monarch project, equipped with super advancements, including the ability to use up to 80% of her brain power and regeneration, among other things. At one point in the film, Godzilla goes rogue as a result of King Ghidorah's Hydra Beams, which inject oxidising Hydra venom into his blood through a rock like crest (the Ghidor substance) they engraved onto his body, causing him to grow increasingly unstable as his Dopamine levels grow increasingly lower as his oxidation levels rise. This forces them to unleash Mothra and her two larvae in an attempt to save him before his oxidation levels reach 100% and his Dopamine hits 0%.
Rodan: a scavenger who feeds off of dead monster corpses for food (hence they show tons of scattered MUTO bodies on the news) and who feeds Godzilla energy in the sea. He also helps Godzilla find other monsters as his closest ally during their time on Monster Island.

Rodan is probably the easiest of the three to bring into the fold as he could just be another prehistoric creature that survived and was awakened by tests and/or radiation. I don't see both versions of Mothra being used. Perhaps it goes from larvae to adult form but it will just be one creature and not multiple.
