As much as I love Steve Jablonsky's Transformers scores, the musical sound from those movies is very overdone in action movies scores today. Captain America 2, Amazing Spider-Man 2 and X-Men: Days of Future Past all had this very Hans Zimmer inspired sound that, while enjoyable, borders on plagerism.
I'm actually really happy Godzilla went the other direction with its soundtrack, but I think that direction could have been utilized for a stronger score overall. I liked the Godzilla score, but it's almost exclusively because it doesn't sound like any of the other scores mentioned in this thread. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes was another movie that broke that mold, but ultimately had better pieces than Godzilla.
