MemberMothra LarvaeJul-23-2014 1:59 PMBefore we get started, I want to say that everything here is just a matter of my own personal opinion. Is that okay? Don't bother saying because I can't hear you right now. Okay! Here we go! The Godzilla movie has been viewed very differently by everyone. People say that it was bad, others say that it was great, and I belong to the latter group of people. However, regardless of whatever team one is on, there's always one pessimist who has to make a very bizarre complaint. The complaint I'm talking about is, "UGH!!! Why does the M.U.T.O look like the Cloverfield monster?! This movie sucks! UGH!!!" (No intent on fade ding anyone. Just trying to make this a bit funny. If it isn't, oh well.) I personally don't see that much of a resemblance, especially with the male. To me, it looks more like a mix between Gigan and Battra (or Megaguirus), or perhaps a gigantic Mothman. The female is a bit more understandable, but even then it doesn't look like it that much. It has a completely different number of limbs and doesn't have the long tail. I only thought it looked like Clovey the first 20 seconds I saw the toy. THE TOY! If anything, the kaiju from Pacific Rim are closer in appearance, due to their very detestable and famine look to them. They look very thin and zombie-like.
Now if your gonna compare the female Muto to the Cloverfield monster, that's fine, but why doesn't anyone do the same with any of Toho's menagerie of monsters? After all, what does Godzilla look like? A giant upright dinosaur (in a nutshell). Now what do Gigan, Titanosaurus, Gorosaurus, and Monster X look like? Giant upright dinosaurs (in a nutshell)! And don't Battra and Mothra look like just a little like one another? And what's with all the Ghidorahs? There's, Grand Ghidorah, Cretaceous Ghidora, Death Ghidorah, King Ghidorah, Mecha-King Ghidorah, Kaiser Ghidorah, it's like cut me a break! And what's even more unoriginal then that is that Mothra, Gorosaurus, Ookandudoratheexplorer (or whatever the name of that condor thing was), Ebirah, Kumonga, and Kamacarus are all giant versions of real life animals. This has been done to death in fantasy-related games and movies, which really irritates me! I don't care what you think! It bothers the heck out of me!!!
Are the haters gone? Good. They're probably at the last paragraph just to see my overall opinion on kaiju for some reason. Now let me say something before I go on. All those monsters I just made fun of, I love them all! I think that they are all creative in their own respective ways, it's just that... If you're gonna ridicule one monster that seems unoriginal, why not do the same for all the others? If you really think about it, doesn't the Muto look like a Gigan version of Clovey and Gigan look like a Muto version of Godzilla? They're just sharper looking versions of the other.
I don't know where all this hate is coming from, but it really rubs me the wrong way. The Mutos were designed to pay homage to other famous cinema monsters (including Toho's kaiju), but people just see it and go, "CLOVERFIELD! STARSHIP TROOPERS!" People just don't understand it, but you know what they do understand? The kaiju from Pacific Rim pay homage to old kaiju! What? I love those monsters, but- What does Godzilla look like? A giant upright dinosaur. What do Knifehead, Scunner and Mutavore look li- GIANT UPRIGHT DINOSAURS!!!! Gah!!! *sigh* It's like saying the Tyrannosaurs from The Lost World Jurassic Park are unoriginal because they look like the T-rex from the first movie. It's like saying that the kaiju from Pacific Rim are unoriginal, even though they are really paying homage to the man in a rubber suit way of making monsters. It's like saying Gamera is a ripoff of Godzilla (Okay, I'll give you that one, but I still love Gamera dang it!) What Pacific Rim tried to do is what Gareth Edwards tried to do with the female Muto. It does walk like a bunch of people are inside that thing, doesn't it? Like a mangled horse costume. I love all kaiju, and you should too. And if you hate on the Mutos, hate on the others that are designed the same as other monsters. Now for those who read this part, you can go now. I have to right this last paragraph for the people who left 2 paragraphs ago and came back to see the end.
These monsters are so bad, so poorly made, that it makes me start to despise Godzilla and everything about him! I hate Toho and their creations. Their movies suck as much as their monsters do! The Mutos are the most creative beasts put to cinema and always will be! I hate all other kaiju. They are nothing but cheap knock- offs of real-life things or other monsters! In other words, the Mutos are the only ones that don't suck.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-23-2014 2:40 PMi like the MUTOS design, but they do look like clover mixed with orga, bartra, gigan, but i belive like you said its only a homanage

MemberGiganJul-23-2014 4:36 PMI also lve the MUTO designs. I thought they were very unique and insectoid in appereance. However, I can not see a resembence between the female MUTO and the Cloverfield Monster. However, I did get a bit confused in the last 2 paragraphs.

MemberGiganJul-23-2014 5:25 PMI do indeed love the mutos, But every monster ever created is a knock off of real life monsters! For example the mutos technically are giant knock offs of flys and spiders combined! Gamera is a giant turtle, King kong is a magnificent Gorilla, And the King of the Monsters is a Lizard, whale, Gorilla, spinosaur, shark! All monsters are homages to real life things! Not just original monsters but even the mutos! Look at a fly a spider and tell me it doesnt resemble a muto! And i thought you were doing a very good job until your last part saying that tohos movies suck and there monsters are horrible. Thats where you went way to far to the point of me not agreeing with you anymore.
Good grief.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-23-2014 7:32 PMThat last paragraph was a joke for the people who get aggrivated by the first 2 paragraphs people often skip to the end to see the overall opinion (I know I have), and of course I love those movies to death. The plot of any Godzilla movie is so unique, and I hardly get bored watching one. Sorry for the confusion, people. Just trying to be funny.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-23-2014 9:10 PMDidn't you just contradict yourself? You go about asking people what's with their hate for MUTOs, while you personally said the following:
" I only thought it looked like Clovey the first 20 seconds I saw the toy. THE TOY! If anything, the kaiju from Pacific Rim are closer in appearance, due to their very detestable and famine (or do you mean feminine?) look to them. They look very thin and zombie-like. "
So according to you the MUTOs look equally detestable, feminine and are zombies like the Kaijus in PR?

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-23-2014 10:22 PMWhen I said famine, I couldn't think of a word to describe, I guess, like Famine's horse. Just sorta thin and ugly, like something from the bottom of the Mriana Trench. The Cloverfield monster and the PR kaiju both look like they could be in the same universe and look as though they've been on some sorta diet and excersise plan... for just a wee bit too long, to the point that they look zombie-like. (THAT'S THE TERM!) I don't know if this is making any sense, but it's late and I'm tired, so it probably doesn't.
