MemberMothra LarvaeJul-22-2014 5:12 PMHere's just a quick, very vague and general idea for the plot of the Godzilla 2014 sequel I just had, based on an interview with Gareth Edwards a while back where he said he'd like to use the "Monster Island" idea for the sequel:
Some nuclear accident, such as a crashed submarine or fallout from a power plant meltdown (or perhaps the nuke from the end of the first movie!) causes an uninhabited island chain to be contaminated with radiation. This awakens a hibernating monster, which Godzilla, for whatever reason, wants to kill. About halfway or 1/3 into the movie, Godzilla arrives at the island and fights the other monster, and, like in the first film, the military plans to kill them with an H-bomb. This time, however, they have no EMPs to deal with, so the plan goes off without a hitch, and both monsters are caught point blank in the blast. This, of course, fails to kill them, but we then find out that, for some unknown reason, there is practically an entire ecosystem of monsters in hibernation underground and underwater on the island chain, which are all woken up by the nuke.
The plot could go any number of directions from there, but that's as far as my idea goes. What did you think of my idea? Do you have any ideas for the rest of the plot?

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-22-2014 6:08 PMGodzilla didn't suddenly appear after hibernating for millions of years or something like that in the first movie; he had been spotted multiple times throughout human history, suggesting he had been awake all that time or woke up frequently from his hibernation.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-22-2014 8:27 PMThe mutos were the ones hibernating. Godzilla is part of an on going race deep underground and in the ocean. The nuclear sub drew him to the surface. And other bombs would draw out other animals like Rodan, Anguirus, and Baragon or Varan. I would like to see aliens come into this with king ghidorah, megalon, and gigan for godzilla 3 and mechagodzilla has to help godzilla.
