MemberMothra LarvaeJun-27-2014 4:21 AM2018 because, since Pacific Rim came out in 2013 and Godzilla came out the next year, it's only obvious that that's what'll happen.

MemberGiganJun-27-2014 5:45 AMOn imdb and moviepilot the estimated release dates are middle 2016 early 2017. This date you made up has no probabillity. Its gonna be late 2016 early or middle 2017, EXCEPT IT lol.
Good grief.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-27-2014 7:03 AMI would expect Godzilla 2 to come out first. It was received much better, made more money, and immediately had 2 sequels announced.

AdminGodzillaJun-27-2014 10:54 AMActually, with Pacific Rim 2 set for 2017 it borderline confirms Godzilla 2 for 2018. Which is fine. The more time given to the film the better.

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-27-2014 1:36 PMThe only thing I hate is how people are going to inevitably compare Pacific Rim 2 to Godzilla 2 (like the originals) despite being completely different films.
Pacific Rim being a cool action fest for kids, and Godzilla being a well-made suspense film. Sigh................................

GG
MemberGiganJun-27-2014 3:33 PMGman- Im not sure that it confirms that release date. Godzilla's sequels wore announced way before Pr2 was, And apparently they just started production on pr2. Godzilla 2 has been in production since may 23. Also i know its just a estimate, But on imdb and moviepilot.com They say its coming in 2016. I frankly believe that date. It usually takes 2 or 3 years to make a movie. Im still betting late 2016 early 2017, In no way its gonna be 2018, You guys should forget that.
Good grief.

AdminGodzillaJun-27-2014 10:39 PMGorillaGodzilla,
Legendary stated that they were going to greenlight Godzilla 2 in May. That does not mean it has been in pre-production. Very likely, nothing has been worked on. Meanwhile Guillermo del Toro has been working on a story and script for Pacific Rim 2 months before Godzilla was even released. The fact that Pacific Rim 2 has a release date and Godzilla 2 doesn't shows that more work has been done on the film and Legendary is confident enough in its progress to give it a set date. There has been no such movement with Godzilla 2, especially since Edwards is prepping for Star Wars right now.
I understand you want the movie to come out sooner, but the idea that it will be here before Pacific Rim 2 is, at this point, just wishful thinking. Overall, I'd forget about keeping tabs on the Godzilla 2 production until Edwards' Star Wars has at least completed shooting. There's simply not going to be much to go off of.

MemberGiganJun-28-2014 6:17 AMGman- Yes i understand that point. But Pr2 doesnt confirm that it will be released in 2018. There still is a high and most likely chance its gonna be released, in 2016 and middle 2017.
And to me, Late 2016 and middle 2017 seem the most probable. Also the star wars movie, Its not a real film, Its a spinoff film. And its not gonna take that much time to make, the movie is estimated to be done with filming and production middle 2015. Meaning Godzilla will most likely come out in 2017. A good 2 years to make. That seems reasonable right?
Good grief.

AdminGodzillaJun-28-2014 11:45 AMGorillaGodzilla,
Saying Edwards' Star Wars movie is, "not a real film" is fairly presumptuous and wholly incorrect. It will go through the same staging process as the main Star Wars trilogy and Godzilla-- Just like any effects driven production.
Gareth Edwards' Star Wars spin-off is still in the scipting stages under Gary Whitta. Clearly it's far enough along to give them a release date, but I've not seen a start or end date for that matter. Even if Star Wars finishes filming mid-to-late 2015, Edwards will still be fully involved in post-production which would most likely not wrap until early-to-mid 2016 at the very soonest. This puts a 2016 release date completely out of the picture.
You also have to consider the scheduling for Edwards' promoting Star Wars. He will be touring premieres in different countries for the film much as he did for Godzilla. So Godzilla 2 beginning production before then would hold up production. Furthermore, it took close to three years for Edwards to get the movie where he wanted-- including production. He'll want script revisions, time for planning, casting...etc... and much of that can't be done in a timeframe that will allow for a 2017 release.

MemberGiganJun-28-2014 3:31 PMGman- Maybe your right. Lets see what happens next year and then start stating what the release date will be :).
