True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJun-26-2014 9:29 PMOn Earth, the biggest unexplored region is our own ocean. Like 80-90% is unexplored, meaning the number of new deep sea species discovery is pretty high (assuming they aren't scared of the noise from the sub's propellors). After reading the 2014 Godzilla movie novelizaiton, I began to wonder could something like Godzilla/MUTOs exist in the unexplored ocean... a species that feed on nuclear radiation?
The answer, possibly. This is because we already have lifeforms that eat nuclear radiation!

Above talks about a microbe called Geobacter sulfurreducens that loves nuclear stuff. If the presence of a simple lifeform is shown to eat nuclear stuff, then the deep sea could hide a more complex version. The deep sea is even thought to have uranium deposits yet to be mined.
Think about it, if the deep sea that we have explored can have fish with their own "fishing lure" on their head, something never seen by those in shallower waters, then who can tell what "bizarre" or "monsterous" things lurk in the deep?
Okay, so they might not be massive or even resemble Godzilla or a MUTO, but still makes one wonder doesn't it?

Something Real
MemberGodzillaJun-26-2014 11:27 PMTRUE AMERICAN GODZILLA - This is a very compelling notion you've raised! Indeed, I fully believe that there are quite a few life-forms we've yet to discover within the depths of our oceans - there's not telling what might lurk beneath! It may be that the largest of these creatures are something on the scale of Godzilla. That would certainly be a revelatory discovery - and a terrifying one! It's very likely that Mankind will never truly understand the full extent of the life dwelling within Earth's oceans. However, perhaps the day will come when we find that our world is a little more monstrous than we first assumed. Not everything that goes "bump" in the night is our imagination. ;)

MemberMothra LarvaeJun-27-2014 3:57 AMIt is indeed a very exciting prospect, the un-explored ocean. The possibilities are somewhat endless to what could possibly reside in the inky black trenches of our oceans! Maybe something a tad smaller than gojira could very well be thriving under our noses and this presents a very real and terrifying notion that we may not be immune to all the forces of nature. A titanic killing machine would be something to behold alright, I hope it's in the pacific, I'm in Ireland and I don't plan on getting stomped on! It's a great topic you have brought up!

MemberBaragonJun-27-2014 2:10 PMwhat exsists out there is very unreal...Abysmal regions are out there, what if there was a (in the bible) Levianthan big enough to shake the grounds in it's wake that will unleash hell on earth when the end of time comes? Makes you wonder doesn't it?

The Ocean is so vast and intriguing , also i tend to ask myself what other creatures or beings could live beneath the forests or the mountains ... everything's possible with just a little bit of imagination .
