Reasons why: The new movie sold so many tickets that Legendary is still trying to figure out what to do with all the money they made. I heard they might buy a private island to film the next movie on.
That was a joke, but seriously, this film has made so much money domestically there aint no way there isn't going to be a video game of some kind to cash in on that success. You have to understand how the video game market works now. Movie based video games are almost dead, minus huge blockbusters like spiderman and transformers-- but guess what-- Godzilla is now a huge blockbuster. There was probably little or no intention on releasing the game outside of Japan until the new movie started printing money.
Above all, read the title of the game. English letters for Godzilla. It might be so import friendly you wont even have to have it localized.
Because of the buckets of bucks the new movie has made, Godzilla is a household name again. Trust me, I'm seeing everything from little kids wearing shirts to girls drawing weird couple fan art all over the internet. Godzilla is right up there with Game of Thrones and stuff-- hes pop culture again. Not the obscure stuff we enjoyed only a few years ago. Hes out there in-front of everyone so people can smell him. The days of hiding the fact you're a godzilla fan out of shame is more than likely over for a while.
So don't worry-- I'd bet ya five bucks right now this game is coming over here and even if it isn't, Its probably going to be so damn import friendly it wont matter. Say you don't own a PS3? Oh big deal-- I'm sure this game will be ONE IN A LINE OF MANY to come for the next five or six years. So put on your 'dont worry' helmet, strap yourself in, and prepare to ride the pop culture hype train for a while.
