True American Godzilla
MemberMothra LarvaeJun-25-2014 6:10 PMWell kids, I finally watched the movie of the 2014 American Godzilla. However, I noticed some major things about the movie and its book form...
0: In the novelization, Godzilla is 400' tall; Female Muto is 350' tall, and Winged Muto is 200' tall. IN the Movie Godzilla is 355', Female Muto 340', WInged Muto 200'. I prefer the novelization's version of the sizes.
1: While in both the humans are the major part of the story telling, the NOVELIZATION of the movie is far BETTER because it gives you the reader like 3x more of the human interaction/depth/story than the movie. I was greatly disappointed that the movie cropped a LOT of the human story or shortened it, thus making the actual movie lack story.
2: The book gives more scene descriptions of Godzilla vs the mutos, even the Hawaii scene! That's right, while in the movie we only have the news report showing the fight (which is also in the book), the novelization actually gives us the battle descriptions! This spot is the 1st time Godzilla used the Atomic Breath!
3: The novelization explains to us why the MUTOs have an EMP ability. It's not just because it would disable our human vehicles, but to keep Godzilla from using the Atomic Ray! See the novel describes Godzilla needing electricity to ignite the super-heated vapor/ionized-gas inorder to form the Atomic Ray. Without this spark/ignition Godzilla has no Atomic Ray to use (though when Godzilla realized the Winged Muto was responsible, Godzilla was ticked to say the least).
4: The few positive aspects I will give the movie: Seeing the MUTOs and Godzilla, hearing their roars, and Godzilla's method of killing the Female Muto is to me better than the novelization version.
So I'm glad that the Legendary Pictures version of Godzilla is getting more movies, I just wished the 1st movie was as good as its Novelization version. So I rate the Novelization as much better. The Novelization I highly support you buying it to read, as I give it 5 stars!
