MUTOs and Kaijus

Hi, I've been thinking about this for a long time, so with no further adeu, here're my thoughts;

In the new Godzilla movie, we've been introduced to a new set of villain monsters, who or which we now know as MUTOs.

But what if the term used for these monsters is not really that new? Instead, it is an American version of what we know as Kaijus.

MUTO means "Massive Unidentified Terrestrial Organism", which is probably the same meaning as with the term "Kaiju". Both terms refer to unidentified/pronoun character/monster.

So my point is, every monster which will appear on Legendary's Godzilla adaptation will be called a MUTO(which is a reference to what the Japanese call a "Kaiju") and will only be later referred to as a proper noun/identified monster.

So, yeah, that's it. And for me this is the way of Legenday separating the Pacific Rim universe with the Godzilla one. :) please let me hear/read your thoughts about this.

You know, I wouldn't be surprised. The M.U.T.O. acronym is actually quite an inventive one, and certainly gives a sense of depth to the codename for all of these creatures besides just simply "monsters".

LOPSQUID - That's the point the OP was making. It isn't a name, just describing what it is, compare "strange creature" to "Massive Unidentified Terrestial Object." They both basically mean "Something that we know nothing about."

JULIUS BAGOYO - Welcome to the site! We're always extremely pleased to see new faces. Please, make yourself at home and start posting away; we love to hear new thoughts and points of view! As for your topic: I happen to think that is a very astute observation. Legendary and Warner Brothers might indeed choose to refer to all monsters within the Godzilla franchise as MUTOs. It certainly would help them disassociate Godzilla from Pacific Rim. Thank you very much for sharing this with us! :)

Hmmm... I'm not sure it would be a good idea to do that, unless they're going to give the Mutos from the first film their own unique name. Even then, pretty much everyone will associate the name "M.U.T.O." with those specific monsters by that point, so it would probably be best if "Muto" became the name of just that species (in-universe) and all the monsters after that were given their own names.
