Godzilla Movie Novelization and My Concept idea for a Godzilla cartoon series

Now I've read the official movie novelization (haven't seen the movie yet) and love this American Godzilla and its origins. With that in mind...

1: For those that have read the movie novelization and seen the actual film, how did the two compare?

2: Okay, the book described Godzilla as part of an acient species (well, it and the MUTOs). For a cartoon series, why not have the story take place during that anceint era that had loads of radiation and giant monsters? The enemy monsters would influence/represent different aspects/parts of nature. The end of the cartoon would re-summarize the lesson taught from the episode, and why humans can't control that aspect of nature. Study it yes, live in it yes, but not control it or think they can change the earth a few degrees. The sub-lesson could be moral lessons/way to treat each other.
