MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 6:50 PMApparently, and this is only something I saw on wikipedia so it might not be accurate, but Legendary is supposedly making a trilogy.
... Why?!?
Trilogies are so overused and they aren't fun anymore! If you're working with a worldwide icon like Godzilla, then use the friggin thing! Either leave the first film alone or make a full fledged series! Trilogies are cliche now and are just... Ew! Obviously I hate trilogies, but is anyone else annoyed by this development? I for one hate the idea of only featuring Godzilla in three measly movies! I'll say it again, if you're going to use an icon like Godzilla who has worldwide appeal, then use him correctly! Either make a full franchise, or just leave the first film alone!
Legendary... Why you do this? Why you do the stupid, overrated, overused, cliche, passe, pathetic, underwhelming, and just overall bad idea of a trilogy?!
Why?!?

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 6:57 PMIt's not set in stone that a trilogy is all they'll do. It's just what their planning for now. And what if it's just a trilogy? Would you have preferred a duology? Only two movies? Four or five? A trio is good number if you're not planning very far. But if the movies are highly successful then they'll definately continue.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 7:55 PMThey should make a quadrilogy, or a pentology. But plz, not just 3 movies!!!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 8:20 PMWell it did work out great for Gamera. I understand that Gamera are two different things but you would have to admit that the Gamera trilogy helped to rei.vigorate the character. I see nothing wrong with this for Godzilla. I would personally love to see this version if Godzilla done into a three picture story arc. With each story openi.g up and building upon the character to form one awesome story. Plus if the formula works and the movies are a hit no way they would stop at three unless TOHO has it in writing to only allow three movies before they would renegoiate to allow more.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 8:27 PMAs long as they don't put Godzilla too generously on screen. I love the way Goji2014's depicted as a mysterious character. I'd hate to see him spammed in every scene in the sequel. I just want maybe 1.5x-2x more screen time than the first movie tops. Nothing more or seeing Godzilla on screen wouldn't be special anymore. Seeing the Godzilla on screen in the current movie was an HONOR. But yeah, maybe he needed just a little bit more screen time. Had his fight in Honolulu was shown, the movie would be better IMO.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 8:33 PMI honestly think 3 is a great way to go. First movie is the origin, second movie is the struggle, third movie is the end. As much I'd love to see 10 Godzilla movies, it wouldn't work out. History has shown that if the same creative team works on the same project for too long it eventually can start to either lose steam or change completly (the Showa films). I'd prefer for them to just do what the Heisei films did. Have a couple films and then have an ending. Stop before things start to become silly.

AdminSpaceGodzillaMay-22-2014 10:06 PMI've been calling it for over 2 years now. Back when Legendary initially announced they had secured the rights to Godzilla, I read that they were planning a trilogy - to replicate their success with the Batman / Dark Knight franchise. Since then it died down and people were saying it was just a "rumor". But now we know it's legit, which I'm happy to see. 2 more Godzilla movies, done in the same fashion as G2014 can only improve Godzilla's rep with western audiences. I'm stoked!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 11:14 PMI think a trilogy will definitely help Godzilla's Western influence. And it will also show the new generations the kaiju genre. All I see is a win win!

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-22-2014 11:14 PM@TW_G FAN2014- Be careful what you wish for, this was said in a video that was previously posted on this site. if you say stuff like this, than Hollywood might decide you're right and NEVER MAKE ANOTHER GODZILLA MOVIE! I'm not saying this to be aggresive or mean, it's just all of us here want to see more Godzilla films the same you do. it's just that right now, they are PLANNING 2 more movies, not just to end with a trilogy. as THE WEAVER stated, if those 2 new movies do well, THERE WILL BE MORE MOVIES. so don't sweat over a tiny trilogy, becuase something small, can become something HUGE!

MemberTitanosaurusMay-23-2014 6:59 AMA trilogy means 2 more american made Godzilla films adding to a total of 4 Godzilla films made in the U.S. (If you count the 1998 film) Besides, Godzilla has made more films than any other franchise so be happy we keep getting more.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-23-2014 9:24 AMTalk about greedy. Kid, you're lucky Legendary even gave Godzilla another chance. If the circumstances had been slightly different, Godzilla final wars might have been the last Godzilla movie ever made. Of course all Godzilla fans always want more Godzilla, but you have to understand the world doesn't revolve around you :/

MemberBaragonMay-23-2014 1:21 PMwell if it worked for gamera and made him more famous, then why not do the same with godzilla?
I say bring it on! :)
