[SPOILERS]

Hello, I'm a relatively new Godzilla fan. I loved Legendary's Godzilla and have watched it 3 times to date.

I heard people say that LegendaryGodzilla's atomic breath isn't powerful enough because it didn't do significant damage to FemMUTO the first time he used it.

I have an opinion of my own regarding that matter. I think It didn't do as much damage to FemMUTO because the MUTOs have hard exoskeletons, like insects (they look like huge-ass cockroaches in my opinion). Godzilla knew it wouldn't to much damage on the exoskeleton thus explaining why he did the 'Kiss of Death'. This also signifies that Godzilla is HIGHLY INTELLIGENT (kudos to Gareth Edwards for that).

So what I'm saying is Godzilla's atomic breath's true power hasn't been seen because we haven't seen him use it on things that we are familiar with like buildings, etc. But judging how it fried FemMUTO's innards in a few seconds, I think that it is incredibly powerful.

What about you? What do you think about the new Godzilla's atomic breath? Comment and let me know!

Well, it did push her back quite a bit. :D

I thought it was incredibly powerful! It's not something you see see your everyday gecko doing!

How far can we push nature before it pushes back?

And not something you see a particular marine iguana doing. #ifyouknowwhatimean

Thank You! Im so glad im not the only one who understood this! The Muto's and the Godzilla's have been fighting eachother constantly back in the day, so it's only natural that both species have developed weapons AND defenses against eachother. The MUTO exosqueleton is one of these defensive abilities. Godzilla has his insane durability

And his genius reptillian brain.

Yeah, people don't seem to really think about these little things. I googled MUTO+exoskeleton+atomic breath many times and couldn't find any threads about it so I created it myself.

High 5! :D

Well, we could easily say that Godzilla saw that it didn't have the desired effect the first time he used it.  That would be a good reason why he decided to make her eat it, the next time.

Desired effect...check!

Oh, and I find the fans' request of Godzilla having his red atomic breath in the sequel as a stronger variant hard to realize because scientifically, red colored flame is not as hot as blue colored flame thus making red atomic breath stronger than blue atomic breath impossible at least to the scientific mind.

@COBRAZILLA - which means Godzilla can learn and analyze. Expect great things in the sequel. :D

It was maybe as powerful as the very early Godzilla movies, like Godzilla raids again etc.

But it didn't take long for his beam to gain power. Personally, it I found Godzilla's atomic breath to be very anticlimatic. Not the build up, that was nice and well done, the delivery was weak.

So I would say definitely weaker than most Godzilla films.

The other thing to note is that Godzilla 2014 seemed to be only be able to use the breath a few times, before looking like he was about to keel over.
That makes the breath much weaker, the old Godzilla could keep on using it.

Any more than 3, the new Godzilla might have a meltdown.

TALISMAN - Nawp. I think he's keeling over had more to do with the fact that he almost got ripped open like a bag of chips just moments before.

I really liked the choice to use it sparingly. The breath became such a crutch in the Heisei series. No one likes a spammer, Godzilla!

GARETHEDWARDSYOUREAGENIUS - I very much enjoyed Godzilla's atomic breath. It had a certain liquid property to it that I found to be most insteresting - and very accurate with regards to physics. I also enjoyed the fact that Godzilla used his nuclear ray only a few times. That made it feel more special! As for it being weak: with regards to how energy reacts to matter in the actual world, the effect it had upon the female MUTO realisitc - scorching her badly and driving her back. In older films, Godzilla would have blown her back several hundred meters, knocked her down, and then caused her to spontaneously explode in a massive fireball - not exactly what I would call realistic. :)

Keep in mind that the older films where Godzilla used his breath were never powerful enough to kill a kaiju instanly. Only FW Godzilla or his Red spiral ray could achieve those feats. The female Muto getting blasted in the throat and kneeling before her better is as realistic as a giant monster movie is going to get without treading into dbz territory bud.

Right on to Godzilla spamming his breathe in the hesei series. The fights were incredibly dull with endless back and forth until the director decides the fight has gone on long enough. GMK and Final Wars nailed it by having something die just about everytime he uses it

As once said from sometime ago that I do not remember exactly, this iteration of the atomic breath was said to be somewhat like napalma. Sort of like hosing nuclear fire over something. The female Muto in this case. However, it's blue. There's only one other visible hue that signifies even greater power. And what might that be?

White. Pure white. Blinding white light. And what comes with being so white for such intensity? Definitely not an "atomic napalm". No, it would almost match prior later films from the Toho series of Godzilla movies in terms of look. An intense stream of such magnitude matched only by how blinding it and the dorsal spikes lighting up would be.

I doubt what we saw is even a fraction of what this Godzilla is capable in terms of the atomic breath. He was worn out and beaten, and used it as a killing move when opportunity showed itself. I believe that as a pure weapon of destruction and when Godzilla is at peak, the near-beam-level attack could truly become the vaporizing-a-hole-through-a-building stream we hope to see, and we'd barely be able to see it in action for how bright it woudl be.

Yeah, every scene that Godzillla was in was special. Let's hope they keep it that way. I don't want Gareth Edwards to sell his soul to Hollywood and make a gigantic cheese-fest popcorn movie. I just want a little more, maybe 40-50 minutes of Godzilla onscreen in a 2 hour movie. Anything more would be too much and Godzilla will lose his charisma as a mysterious character.
