Godzilla 2014 Sequel Design Change (maybe)?

So I was wondering if they will keep the exact same Godzilla design for the sequel, (which I sure hope will be here as is said, trying not to get too excited) or if they change it or tweek it at least? Personally I thought the design was flawless and they shouldn't change it at all, in fact I don't expect them to. But it's still an interesting question to ask.

I wont mind if minor changes are made (Toho did that practically in every "G" movie). Just as long as they don't deviate too much from the Godzilla "look",like they did in G98. We all know what a screw-up THAT was. I think Godzilla's dorsal plates could use a little tweeking. And definitely his teeth. As he is an Alpha predator they should give him more fierce looking teeth. I loved the savage look his teeth and fangs gave him in GMK. Now THOSE were the teeth of a badass ferocious beast.

IMO, I honestly think it should stay the same.

Looks good the way it is now.

I don't think I would mind either way!

How far can we push nature before it pushes back?

JETJAGASUSHIMAN - I'd be most happy if they chose to leave the design already in place alone. Godzilla looked utterly fantastic! If they choose to make a redisign, they risk offsetting the continuity and validity of their monster. It's not a guarantee, but people, from what I've seen, tend to like stability in designs. Of course, if Legendary and Warner Brothers choose to edit Godzilla's appearance, it might be for the better; sometimes a minor change can produce a fantastic result! :)

Well I agree they shoulden't change the design, although it would be cool to consider that Godzilla can physically enhance himself with the radiation he consumes in order to get more powerful.

Life is very simple, but we insist on making it complicated.

I love the design overall, but I do think that one or two minor tweaks can be made while keeping it overall the same monster.

1) As was said by others before me, the teeth could be a bit bigger. Right now they are just a little too small to really bring the full effect of his power and ferocity. Plus, if they're bigger, they have a better chance of piercing his enemy's hide and causing a bit more creature gore which would always be awesome.

2) The spines could stay the same shape, but make them just a tiny bit bigger. Maybe just a few extra feet even, like add 4-7 feet for each one. The change to our eyes would be so small it almost wouldn't appear at all to the naked eye. But it would be an improvement I think.

3) The eyes.

Now, before anyone gets excited, I love his eyes. It's the whole reason I think they could use a slight change. They are small and they suit his large, ferocious look perfectly, but they don't stand out well enough during movement to get our attention and make us "look into his eyes" to see the wheels turning. Know what I mean? I think if they just brightened his eyes, or gave them a bit more of an inner shine kind of like they did in the Godzilla Encounter in 2013, that his eyes would stand out more and he would be all the more with the audience, if that makes sense.

4) Last change/tweak, I promise: His belly.

He's a tad portly in this one, and though his overall size mostly makes up for it, I think they could stand to make him just a bit thinner. Maybe trim about 10 feet or so off his belly to lean him up a tad. It wouldn't take away from his size or bulk all that much, but it would be enough to shut the Japanese fans up who can't stop saying "He's fat!" Know what I mean?

So yeah, I think if they made those tiny tweaks without actually changing the overall design, that it'd be that much better. I LOVE the design, and I LOVED the movie as a whole. While it was not perfect as a movie in general cinema, it was perfect as a Godzilla movie which brought just enough of him to satisfy while making us hunger for more.

I think Gareth Edwards really brought it home on this one, and did a fantastic job teasing the fights and the monsters enough to make us immediatley walk out of the theater and say "WHEN IS THE DAMN BLU-RAY COMING OUT?!?"

... Or... At least I know I said that... (looks left... looks right)... Nobdy else?

@ SOMETHING REAL - Thank you so much for the warm welcome, you're very kind. :-) And I totally agree with your thought that sometimes a minor change can produce a fantastic result, although I equally concur that stability of design is also good, especially if the general design is an awesome one.

@TW_G-Fan2014 - Agreed. Most of the tweaks/changes you mentioned wouldn't hurt, while keeping him the same monster with his general appearance intact. I too am now anxiously looking forward to the Blu-Ray release! :-)
