K so now that almoust everyone saw the movie im going to share with you some sequel ideas. Just incase ima put spoiler warnings.

SPOILER!

Godzilla was potrayed as a creaure defening his habitat the earth ,lets say kinda like earth's special security assistant :D

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gareth said that he grew up waching the hannah barbera godzilla series with all his friends and when he told everyone hes going to  shoot godzilla they asked if godzooki is in it.

My thought is that gareth has in mind doing a godzilla style similar to hannah barbera where he isnt a thread but he isnt friendly either. (your idea of a new monster here) ...is atacking san francisco and Ford knows only 1 can stop that thing. Godzilla shows up and they manage to shoot a sensor at him with which they can activae an EMP signal that makes godzilla appear.

Thats all i got in mind feel free to write down your ideas.

I can see what you are getting at with the HB Godzilla. I mean lets be honest, the new Godzilla is VERY simmiliar in design too the HB Godzilla. And while i dont mind taking ideas from the HB show, i dont like the idea of being able too bring him up. But beyond that i like your suggestion.

What i would like too see is a continuation of the story, starring Dr.Serizawa and Admiral Stenz. Those two characters it would make sense too keep in the story, the brody familly-arc seems finished too me.

I will like to see a sequel with a classic Kaiju, maybe King Ghidorah or Mothra, but with awesome designs!

I think the MUTO thing is kind of finished. What about a Son of Godzilla thing? No...just, no... WAIT! IDEA HERE!

What about that giant skeleton seen in the beginning of the movie? Why not have something similar to that. Or what about those baby MUTOs? Now we're getting somewhere...

HERE WE GO!

 I'll post an idea.

What if for this one they switched the role of Godzilla? What if the humans try to somehow create another monster to take out Godzilla? (of course they would have a way to get rid of it after Godzilla was gone) During all the tests and trial runs, Godzilla is aroused and comes back to attack the humans. At the end, the almost man-made monster mutates by itself and Godzilla, of course, kills that thing and ends the movie as a real threat. It would have the symbolism of the original (man can't control nature, etc.) This would also end the movie with the possibility of a third movie. I don't know, just spitballing here. I literally came up with that on the spot.

What if one reason godzilla is atacking is the following one: they said (SPOILER)  he feeds on earth radiation, but what if he needs a secondary aliment source and keeps fishing some whales and stuff. And this is the point where it gets all 54 style:he hunts whales and fish till nothings left so that he needs to make land to search for food while he rampages through cities like san francisco.

Posted this also on another sequel idea thread...

Guys, you don't bring back HB Godzilla unless you bring back the Calico! (but not Godzooky)

That said, I don't see much similarity of design between that show and this new movie...really?  Do I look like Carl Majors? Oh...

ok--Aside from the main idea, I thought this up as I wrote it...here goes:

My idea came from the discussion about crossing w/Pacfic Rim.  Relax, this isn't that...but it gave me the idea the next one could be in the near future, one in which there is again an "unbalanced earth" (Edwards gave us this; I’m working within).  A few people (say 10,000 total), with a combination of resources, brains and ruthlessness (and Google), have more or less enslaved mankind into forced labor and are sucking earth dry of everything it has...and they don't much care, because their sights are beyond earth.  Like "Interstellar" only they WANT it that way...they are basically looting earth like futuristic Russian Oligarchs/Internet Crime Lords and planning on hopping to the next habitable planet to live out their lives in depravity and luxury. That bad…

How about a revolt by the remaining 8 billion people? One problem. These rulers have all the military might, now most efficiently possessed in giant sorta Jaeger-like robots, only even more fearsome. The leaders get inpatient to speed things up, and make some of them sentient...and like with the MUTO, the leaders of man have now foolishly unleashed something that will destroy EVERYTHING...

So, enter Godzilla. Fight, smash, kill, win, right?  We even throw in an older, manual bot that gets resurrected n’ rebuilt, and piloted by some teenager (his uncle rebuilds it in secret) who grew up with tales of Godzilla from his great grandfather (Serizawa?)...and fills that sort of Jet Jaguar role. . .together, they fight and defeat several giant killer robots...we see scenes of people cheering…and then storming the streets…and so they save the day, right? Not so fast...

Were the genocidal robots the usurpers of balance? No...they were the symptom...the cause is, of course...mankind.

Godzilla's purpose is instinctive...so there is no deep thinking or great spiritual journey with man...it just emerges...and now Godzilla seems to instinctively realize that man is the real threat...he looks at the boy, then slowly turns and starts to make his way to San-San (San Diego to San Francisco megalopolis), presumably to destroy it one block at a time. San-San incidentally is also the seat of the World Government...

The boy is left behind...denying, unwilling to believe...until it is clear GZ isn't headed back out to sea...so he tries to intervene...he "talks" to GZ, which of course is useless, and he gets a nice tail slap for his troubles.  This is when it comes back around full force that Godzilla is not our buddy; not a friend. He's the giant Orkin Man and we are the bugs...

So...there are a few minutes where the boy is left behind again, and recollects...remembers all the horrors he has seen by man...the things the leaders have done...he could go, rescue just his own family and some friends and go live in the Canadian forests...because maybe...Godzilla's purpose can't be stopped, shouldn't be stopped...

But then, he remembers other words from his GGF, words that reassure him of the potential, and even goodness of man...the double edged sword that we are, but that it is not predetermined...and he realizes he must stop the God he grew up worshipping, got to fight alongside, but now judges mankind with doom...

The boy does what he must...he rushes, intercepts and fights the creature he grew up calling a hero just outside the city.  The battle is spectacular and does bleed into the future city with a fair amount of wanton destruction (gotta have it).  What is left of an old, conventional futuristic military takes part as well—for the first time in decades defending its people instead of harming it--but in an interesting juxtaposition, get in the kid's way now just like we do with GZ now...

During the fight however, another truth emerges (ok, haven't thought up exactly how yet)...Godzilla isn't necessarily about destroying humanity...he really is about restoring balance...and the imbalance that now exists isn't just man...it's between man and him (somewhere here we introduce a future environmental reality that Godzilla's deep sea habitat is now radically dwindling due to man--there is nowhere left to just go back and hang out for millennia--this is it)...they cannot both exist. He isn't fighting for earth...he's simply fighting for himself. The irony is that mankind finally has overtaken him...It really is him or us...(this is made clear).  The crowning irony: mankind, on the brink of disaster is the new “Alpha Predator”  and it’s choice to survive and try to make a better world means it must kill the thing that saved it…

With utter anguish, the boy and Godzilla fight a pitched battle, eventually end up falling in the ocean (homage to G vs. KK)...but they continue there---underwater fighting scene!  Godzilla gains the advantage, moving like a giant croc on jets... but this only forces the boy to unleash a great weapon that will destroy everything--something the leaders concocted as a way to kill large amounts of people that were "excess"--basically, a hyper-explosive conventional version of a 10 MT nuke.  He does it.  We see something like an underwater atomic explosion from above...that sends shockwaves as far as Seattle-Vancouver. An EMP washes over San-San and power is off for 10 seconds...then flickers on..(fade)

water... The boy's robot is later found floating on the ocean, nearly shattered...the boy is found in it, alive.

He rides back, silent. For the first time in his life, is brought to a real hospital (previously unavailable for common people)...there is already a new government forming.  Most of the leaders it seems were either killed by their own robots, or overthrown by the people shortly after the fight. He is quickly informed about many events... He finally asks, "Godzilla?"  He's informed that the only reason he survived is because his robot automatically ballistically launched as he detonated the weapon...he was shot 10 miles and was out of the water during the shockwave... one that nothing could have survived.

There is a new order for man...and hope. We see people emerging from dark hovels into sunlight...lots of activity…life....the camera pans, then looks out toward a great sunset, one that is strangely yet beautifully colored because of the atmosphere of that time...the scene blends to further away oceans...camera finally stops...focuses...music slows and hangs...

Last .5 seconds: spines burst out of the water... The End.

I would like serizawa to find a infant Angurius, serizawa keeps the infant for study at his research lab and then the infant goes missing after a random attack by Ghidorah. Then later Godzilla finds Angurius fully grown on a island and does battle with him and knocking him out. Meanwhile Ghidorah has completely destroyed hong Kong and serizawa visits the injured Angurius. Meanwhile Godzilla heads to Tokyo believing Ghidorah is gonna be there. Angurius wants revenge against Ghidorah after over hearing video footage of Ghidorah from serizawa.

Angurius heads to Japan as well. Ghidorah is already there and has destroyed half of the city. Godzilla shows up and does battle with Ghidorah. He is not doing good on his own and is desperate, uses his breath twice and is drained. Just as we think he's about to die, Angurius shows up ignoring they're previous battle and saves him. Angurius and Ghidorah battle till G has regained his strength. They eventually tag team Ghidorah and win. Both roar in victory and earn each other's respect and part ways in the ocean. Serizawa bares witness saying thank you yo both of them and goodbye to Angurius as a tear rolls down his face as he raised him from an infant before the attack.

sparkzilla i kind of like your idea but id rather ghidorah be saved for a later movie. maybe make it a different unkown monster. i dont think anguirius should be raised by serizawa it seems a little cliche. maybe anguiris is in a similar position as godzilla was in the first film. a natural enemy of both of them has appeared and they must reluctantly take it down together. i was thinking anguirius and godzilla could have a t rex and triceratops type of relationship

NO MORE MUTOS, OR MONSTERS OR ANY OF THAT SHIT!!

i want to see Godzilla go up against man, and only man, like he did in Godzilla 1954.  Monsters fighting won't make it the next time.

Let's reboot the entire thing.  Lets show how Godzilla is create and go from there.  Let him attack Dubai or Shanghai, or Miami or all of the above.  It should be an epic, with a complete story, 3 hours long,  like Peter Jackson's King Kong or Avatar.  Anything less will be another disappointment (to me).

@RateDrex

Sorry you didn't like the film, but I really don't think they'll reboot the whole thing now, especially since this film has proved so successful. I wouldn't mind seeing a sequel where Godzilla decides the next target on his list is man, but fighting other monsters is perfectly okay with me. And I also have to disagree with the three hour epic remarks as well. Although PJ's King Kong was fine in my book, the three hour run time was mostly padded with unnecessary filler b/c he never bothered to hire a editor.

Regarding sequel possibilites, I'm very much intriged by what the world's reaction to kaiju would be. There would most likely be a UN or NATO organization tasked with studying Godzilla and researching possible counter-measures. PETA would probably move to have him declared a protected species. I also feel like some weird cults would spring up that worship Godzilla as a deity (ourselves notwithstanding).

I'm biased, but I feel like a film borrowing some ideas from vs. Biollante might be appropriate here. It's a safe bet Godzilla left from of his matter lying around San Fran and it would be a hot commodity for any country looking to tap into the miracle that makes him possible. Their tampering could give rise to a threat spawned from science that Godzilla would obviously view as unnatural and deserving of an ass kicking.

Have Godzilla come back after man has done something wrong and he has to fix it. Maybe have a entirly new monster or a redo of a old monster to fight Godzilla. Maybe Gigan could be a man made monster from a organism discovered from a ancient cave and it is turne into a cyborg. Eit that or some other monster like Megaladon or the smog monster. Also Godzilla should ave a friend. Angurus? If not then add Rodan or Baragon. Please no Mothra,

CARL MAJORS - That's an interesting premise you presented. I don't necessarily know what I'd have occur for a sequal - though I do know it would have something to do with the Tunguska Event of 1908. THAT could have many interesting possibilities... :)

(SPOILER!)

At the end of the Godzilla 2014 when godzilla is swiming back to the sea we can see how his spines get lost below the sea surface until we lost track of his body in the surface of the sea.. then we still in the scene a few seconds and then we get to the credits....

What if the sequel to godzilla 2014 start at that same scene and when we get below the sea surface we see a submarine (You know whatever get to your mind maybe a new organization for studying godzilla's capacities and stuffs) ...then something says to me that new organization would create a similar living creature like the mutos..or mechagodzilla inself......so the first country that create a similar creature then would be superior to the other countries??

A MechaGodzilla maybe?

(as you can see, i don't know a lot of english....please be gentle)

Personally i'd rather have a new type of monster on the film's sequel rather than angirus, mecha-godzilla, mothra, king ghidorah. This film was brilliant because it had something we'd never seen before. Why would you not want something totally new and unique. When trailers come out for the sequal in months/years time you wont be the same as you were with these new creatures.Remember when you saw the muto for the first time and we were all like HOLY SHIIIT!? Hoping and praying for a new 0.5 second clip of this MUTO. This film was very original in it's self and lets try keep it an original series. I'd like to see G 2014 fight a mecha godzilla or any other toho monster sure but i'd rather him come up against something no Godzilla fan has seen before. How much did we all turn FBI trying to discover new things about this creature(muto's) we never seen before? Maybe have some kind of referance to an old Godzilla villan such as special powers such as titanosaurus' wind tail or angirus's powerful roar. But i hope they make another "original story" like this was.

ZillaHater - Godzilla 2014 is NOTHING like the HB Godzilla. That Godzilla breathed regular fire, shot red eye beams from his eyes, and had pathetic excuses of spikes on his back. Not only that, but he responded to an emergency beacon and was very clearly on the side of humanity to the point where he regularly rescued the humans directly and purposefully.

In essense, he was humanity's attack dog.

There's no similarity between them at all.

As far as the regaular conversation goes about sequel ideas, I doubt they'll go that route with the signal. If anything, it will play out in a similar manner. New monster(s) arrives, Godzilla senses the threat on his own, comes to deal with it. There's really nothing else that can be done with this Godzilla.

Max Borenstein said he's already created a universe for this franchise, and if that is true then that means that the facts surrounding Godzilla (being that he's nature's sword, for lack of a better phrase) won't change. He's not going to turn into a human puppet. That's just stupid. He's not going to suddenly become a hero. That's even worse. Rather, he's going to continue being what he is, a creature driven by instincts and a motive of self preservation. When he senses a threat, he'll deal with it in whatever manner he deems fit.

But as far as becoming a hero or a human toy to be summoned like a dog, not happening. If Gareth goes that route just because he enjoyed the old cartoons then he's a fool who shouldn't be directing the sequels. But I doubt that is the case. He knows Godzilla well enough to understand that the HB cartoons, while entertaining, have nothing to offer his newly created franchise.

I'd say that we need to see more of Godzilla's destructive capabilities, show why Humanity has no business standing in his way. Obviously, he doesn't go on random rampages for no good reason in this iteration. He needs a motive. The MUTOs were agitated by their distance from each other, as well as the constant annoyances of Human military action stalling them from joining up to mate. As for Godzilla, a similar approach is needed.

This means Humans once again become the ultimate martyr. We need to do something that causes Godzilla to go beserk, something that'll rattle any animal's bones to the point of almost unnecessary rage. What that might be I don't know. but you guys get the jist of what I'm saying. In the end, we can't forgive him for what he's done, but we also can't blame him for our own crimes against him. Either way, Godzilla has to kick monster ass, Human ass, and anything else that dares to disrupt the natural order.
