@Mikeynamez: Yeah that's something we have no control over, but I really do hope Godzilla gets that huge amount of attention from moviegoers and the raving review it deserves from the general audiences here.
@Chelgri: I do hope so, but then again word of mouth spreads really fast and if the first wave of audiences adore the movie, then it will most certainly attract most of the non-fans to catch the movie. Cos I do come across non-fans who simply have no interest in catching the movie because they felt it would end off like Godzilla 98, where Zilla goes on a rampage and eventually gets slayed by the humans.
@Something Real: Haha yeah I'm right in Singapore, its a sleek urban environment but nothing much when it comes to natural beauty. And I guess you are right. I actually think there are people out there (still reeling from the effects of Zill's 98 bad story experience) who tend to be cautious when it comes to wanting to catch Godzilla 2014, and I am referring the the non-fans? They probably thought its just going to end up the same way except that the effects are now more advanced and story's a bit more sophisticated but the humans are gonna end up gaining a victory over Godzilla. My guess is most of them are probably waiting to hear what the first wave of audiences would like to comment about Godzilla before they decide to jump on the wagon. And I am sure the first group of people who are going to catch it would give fantastic comments about Godzilla because they would most likely be fans of the King haha.
@AggressivKaiju: Yes indeed the King is here, but it needs to bring in the masses to in order to be the undisputed King of Monsters not just cinematically but also commercially when pitted against other monster flicks. That's why it matters :)
@Weaver: It's good that you get to enjoy more space in your IMax theatre, but on the day of screening if you see yourself owning all that space, then that's worrying for Godzilla. :P
@RatedRex: You sound really upbeat about Godzilla's takings, and I do hope you are right about the earnings. For me though, I'm toning it down to something more down-to-earth say, $530 - $570 million worldwide ? Guess this would be sufficient to warrant a sequel. Something like how Batman was resurrected by Chris Nolan's direction and won praise and then went on to score bigger hits and takings with its sequels?
