MemberMothra LarvaeMay-08-2014 9:09 AMhis screen-time isn't THAT small... and the movie is fantastic/ epic/ awesome. some scenes we know from the trailers/teasers aren't in the movie. I had to sign anything and it's not allowed to me to post a full review til may, 11th... I have seen it twice now. Todays screening was in Hamburg/ Germany 10am. The CGI is awesome and "polished" now. I'll answer some questions later today on this page: https://www.facebook.com/godzillaBook
Gareth did it the right way!
@DURP004: thanks man...
oh, I have to say that I didn't liked the score by Alexandre Desplat, but now...after watching the movie twice, the music is perfect ! It works so well in combination with the pictures. I have to buy it :D
seriously: it's more than a good movie and far away from "horrible". aaron-taylor johnson isn't a good actor (in my opinion), but here he is good. his acting is "realictic"...and that's what counts. cranston is great, watanabe is great - cast is great... and we get monster-fights too...! wohoo
@TIMOROSE
Hmm, you sound like you actually loved the movie. That's good. I hope it is a good as your review.
I've been a Godzilla fan since 1963, when I was 7 years old. I have been hoping to see a Godzilla movie done seriously with all the special effects of the day. I got excited for Godzilla 1998, but that turned out to be one of my worst experiences, ever, at the movies. So I'm a little gunshy about this one. I dont want to get my hopes up too high only to see them crushed like they were in 98. My sons have already threatened to remove all ropes, pills and razors from my house.
If this is a good as you say it is, then I can die happy (in 40 years). If not... oh well, maybe another American studio will try again in 2030.
@RATEDREX: I so can hear you... i hated the 98version... for me it's a remake of "beast from 20.000 fathoms". the movie is "ok", but it's no Godzilla-movie.
yes, same here! I thought: hmm, okay, another hollywood-blockbuster-bullshit-try... but seriously: it's a great movie. IT IS godzilla.
haha we all can die happy (in 40 years).
I have friends in japan at toho etc and they liked it lots. you think you r watching a film of the showa/ heisei-series. he is something like the "hero"...
to be honest: i love it.
@timorose
thanks for putting up the pros and cons, ive now seen many pre-screeners like yourself specifying the part of the dialogue and bits of acting were the issue, but overall the movie was good. Thank you for your contributions!
@JUNKERDE
you are very welcome. it's not the acting...it's a line here and a line there...but only 3-4 times...the acting is good. i mean, no one wins an oscar here - the acting is something between good and very good
@Timorose - Nice that you caught the show so early, and that you love it! One eager question I have for you though is something about the MUTOs.
So now that Godzilla has a 'thin' atomic ray coming out from his mouth, what powers do the MUTOs possess then and are their abilities equally as devastating? And how would you rate the MUTOs against other Godzilla's foes? :P
" Your kind feared the Darkness. "
TIMOROSE I have 2 little questions ;-)
1. You said "when he first uses his atomic breath"... Does this mean he uses it more than once? how many times? :)
2. Do they actually call the monster "Godzilla" in the movie? Or is it only "Gojira" like you've mentioned already?
Thanks for the review, you got me even more hyped for the movie! Luckily, the premiere is on 15th in Poland :)
@DESROROYAH-X only EMP / they are def. strong foes. they tag-team him ;)
@CARCASS_PL 1. he is using his atomic breath in two parts of the fights, and three times at all. 2. Serizawa is always call him "gojira". Admiral Stenz call him "godzilla"
Wait a minute timorose, there are 3 monsters!? I only thought there were two...Who is this other monster you speak off?
