Initially I thought that this movie would make 700-800 million, But now I think it probably will make 500-600 million. Hopefully it makes enough to spark a sequel.
depends on reviews/word of mouth. My guess is between 450 - 700 million. A wide margen, I know, but without knowing if the movie will be any good, it's hard to say.
There is no end to the money it shall earn, it will surpass infinity and consume the universe in a massive blackhole. :)
Two weeks ago I thought it could do $800 million to $1 billion dollars, worldwide. Now I'm down to $500-$600 million.
No reviews is a serious red flag.
I've told you guys a few times that I work 20 years in marketing for a major movie studio. NO WAY would we embargo critics for this long if we new we had a good movie. NO F-ING WAY!! Especially when major competition was coming the following week!
All the top grossing movies (except for the Transformer franchise) had reviews published weeks before their premiers, including The Amazing Spiderman 2, Captain America 2 and Lego: The Movie.
I hope I'm wrong because I've already bought tickets for my wife, my sons, their pregnant wives and my 82 year-old father.
One final thing: The studios may re-edit the movie for the Japanese and Chinese market, depending on how well it does in America and Europe.
It would be nothing short of a miracle if this movie does 450 million worldwide. I don't see any evidence that outside of loyal fans that the general public is really amped for this movie. I just hope it makes enough with box office and home video to justify a sequel.
Well since Pacific Rim got over 400 million and the last American Godzilla got 379 million despite getting horrible reviews, I think around 500-650 million would be expected.
