MemberBaragonApr-09-2014 2:14 PMif you had the chance to meet gareth today or even tomorrow, would you thank him for working so hard on this movie and for giving us die hard fans what we really wanted?
i would say yes most defenitly, gareth and his crew have worked on this film for more than 10 years and usually with such a wait, things turn out good. Not to mention from what we all here have seen and read, i truly think that they deserve a huge appreciation.
so what about you guys, would you thank gareth if he was standing next to you?

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-09-2014 2:27 PMFor me, I want to see the movie first because what if it sucks? I personally think it looks fantastic but again I would have to see the movie first.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-09-2014 2:37 PMWell, Gareth Edwards only joined the project about 3 years ago. Before that, only a very broad outline for a new Godzilla film was drawn. It hasn't been cooking for THAT long.
Also, your enthusiasm is great, but you'd only be thanking Edwards for great trailers, unless you've somehow already seen the finished film. It could totally suck, you know. Very rarely does a film go through the hands of 5 or 6 average Hollywood writers and come out shinning. I want it to be fantastic, but don't expect a phenomenon.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-09-2014 3:22 PMLike the others said, we need to see the movie first.
Secondarily, I don't know if I would verbally 'thank' him, even if the movie was good. It was his job, he got paid to do it. I have to pay to see it. If he did a good job, I'd thank him by seeing it again.
The more money this movie makes, the higher salary he can leverage if they contract him to do another one, so I figure that's appreciation enough.
It's not like he did me or anybody else a favor by making the movie. Maybe if he gave me a comped ticket or something I'd thank him. But failing that, I'll vote my approval/disapproval with my wallet.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-09-2014 4:11 PMI'm not thanking anybody yet. If I've learned anything from anyone, it's definitely from the Duke Nukem fans. They waited so long for that game, Duke Nukem: Forever, and they got such a miserable game.
We watch the movie first. Then we praise or condemn it and its creators.

MemberBaragonApr-09-2014 6:44 PMI agree, the movie needs to come out and be obsorbed into my eye balls before I thank anyone. But if everything I have seen about this film turns out to be tue, than Gareth is getting a hardy thank you and a bear hug from me! :)

AdminGodzillaApr-09-2014 8:15 PMBigBadBen,
You speak as if we've seen the movie / everything about it is the ultimate Godzilla movie ever. I'll say I'd like to thank Mr. Edwards once I've seen the movie and if it's good. But by that same token I'd also like to thank Shusuke Kaneko, Takeo Okawara and even Mazaki Tezuka for their efforts with previous Godzilla movies. Edwards would be no different.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-09-2014 11:42 PMIn my opinion, I think this movie is going to rock, by looking at these trailers, the footage looks awesome and of little we truly know about the script or story we need to see the movie 1st. You can have lots of action in a flick but if there is no good story to support it, it's going to suck. But I don't think that's the case, Gareth Edwards said he grew up a godzilla fan and the casting seems great and again by looking at the trailers, I have to assume that this movie not only is it going to rock but going to be epic as well. So far my verdict is, I'll applaud him, cause I think they put a lot of effort in this film and seem to care to give us the godzilla we deserve, a kick ass film. Even if I'm wrong, it doesn't matter, 1st impressions mean a lot and I'm impressed with what I saw out of those trailers I've seen.

MemberMothra LarvaeApr-10-2014 12:32 AMI'm going to be seeing the original Godzilla in Hollywood this Saturday, which Gareth happens to be attending. If I happen to pass him or if he takes questions, I want to at least thank him and his team for the effort and courage to try to bring Godzilla back. We have yet to see the movie, but it looks like it's been handled well so far and it could have gone a lot worse.
