List of Godzilla and Related DVDs/Bluray CURRENTLY Available

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaMar-09-2014 9:28 PMI've noticed some people are a bit short on their Godzilla collection. The list includes DVDs and Bluray that are currently IN PRINT as of March 9th, 2014. Out-of-print movies/editions will not be included. Clicking on the red text will send you to the Amazon.com page where you can buy each title.
It's a work in progress so bear with me as I continue to edit this. Feel free to ask questions about each release and discuss them here. Let me know if I missed something in print as well.
Amazon prices tend to yo-yo, so there may be times when it's different on the actual website. I'm not going to be on the ball about this all the time, but it should remain in the ballpark of the prices listed as of March 9th, 2014.
Amazon also includes prices from other sellers that are often cheaper. I didn't include those prices, but you're free to check each link and see if other people are selling the movies for cheaper than I've listed. (Chances have it, they are cheaper.) I've also put notes next to which movies are being released on Bluray soon.
This thread does not include future releases which you can find detailed here: http://www.godzilla-movies.com/community/forums/topic/31981

MemberBaragonJan-09-2017 2:19 PMJust so everybody knows, Godzilla vs Biollante, Destroy All Monsters, and Godzilla vs Megalon are now all out of print.

AdminGodzillaJan-09-2017 8:20 PMWhen did Lionsgate's Godzilla vs. Biollante go out-of-print?
EDIT:
Looks like you're right though. A damn shame. Not altogether unexpected however.

SchizoidHorse9
MemberBaragonJan-18-2017 2:38 AMI only recently found out because I had been following this thread, trying to fill in my collection (only 3 short of what is still in print) and I sadly did not pick up Godzilla vs Biollante until it was already out of print, but I was also fortunate to get an excellent condition used copy. I was pretty bummed, since I particularly liked Biollante.

MemberBaragonJan-22-2017 9:11 PMOn another note, most places inventory of Destroy All Monsters and Vs Megalon are running a little low right now, and seem to be in stock on a very random basis. Finding them for under $30 is a bit difficult, so grab them now if you see them.

AdminGodzillaJan-22-2017 9:24 PMYeah those have been out-of-print for some time. I simply haven't updated in awhile.

AdminGodzillaJan-29-2017 10:12 AMIn other news, Toho Kingdom just unearthed this little interesting listing on Amazon regarding the 2014 film. No idea what it may include or if the quality of picture will be improved. Waiting for more info:
"Godzilla" (2014) Blu-ray - Feb. 7th, 2017 Release Date
EDIT: Unfortunately, it looks like it's just going to be the same disc, re-issued with a new cover as a part of WB's "Monster Mayhem" reissue series. Here's an example of other titles with the new cover:

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaFeb-03-2017 11:21 AMI've updated the prices to the most recent Amazon.com listings. Son of Kong and the Super Sentai series was added to the list.
Upon further investigation, apparently the Lionsgate and Media Blasters titles (Godzilla vs. Biollante, Destroy All Monsters and Godzilla vs. Megalon) are not technically out-of-print. However, with Media Blasters' track record we can expect the prices to yo-yo little by little until their full supply becomes scarce. Their Stomp Box is absolutely discontinued however.
Lionsgate's Godzilla vs. Biollante is not listed as discontinued yet and it seems to be a case of low stocks at the moment. This is the issue with Classic Media it seems. Immediately it appears as though Dreamworks/Classic Media's titles are out of print due to the dwindling availability and high prices. But it appears to be a stock issue and I'd bet we'll see them make a comeback in the not too distant future.
These prices and availability will likely shift around the time Skull Island comes out. So stay vigilant.

AdminGodzillaFeb-05-2017 12:53 PMDVD & Bluray listings for both Attack on Titan movies and Yongary: Monster from the Deep have been added.

MemberBaragonApr-02-2017 4:15 PMAny news of any older Showa era movies getting Bluray releases? I'm still holding out for the rest of them, but it seems to be slow to come.

AdminGodzillaApr-02-2017 8:49 PMSchizoidHorse,
Which in particular? Depending on the titles, the answer may be different--Overall I haven't heard of any new information regarding Godzilla Blu-ray releases though.

SchizoidHorse9
MemberBaragonApr-02-2017 10:08 PMGman,
Honestly, anything that has yet to get a bluray release, or in the case of King Kong vs Godzilla, a release with the original Japanese. News regarding Godzilla Raids Again, Mothra vs Godzilla, Ghidorah the Three Headed Monster, Invasion of the Astro Monster, Son of Godzilla, All Monsters Attack, Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla, Terror of Mechagodzilla, Mothra, Rodan, or War of the Gargantuans. You are the resident expert on such things, so I thought I'd see if there were any new developments.

MemberBaragonApr-02-2017 10:31 PMAlso, one more important note, the new "Monster Mayhem" re-issue includes King Kong (1933) on Bluray, with $8 movie cash toward a Kong Skull Island ticket. It's only $9.99 at Best Buy right now. King Kong (1933) Bluray @ Best Buy
Aside from the Bluray release, there is also a "Monster Mayhem" DVD release with both King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong, also at Best Buy, for $7.99, with $5 movie money. King Kong (1933) and Son of Kong DVD @ Best Buy
In addition, King Kong (2005) has a new "Ultimate Edition" with the Extended Edition in addition to the Theatrical, with all the previously released extras and a Ultraviolet copy of the Extended Edition, and I can't tell if it also comes with a digital copy of the Theatrical or not... $12.49 on Amazon King Kong (2005) Ultimate Edition Bluray (With Ultraviolet Copy) @ Amazon

AdminGodzillaApr-03-2017 12:55 PMWell the bad news about a lot of the titles you mentioned is that there's no incentive to put them on Blu-ray.
Classic Media's titles are now owned by Dreamworks Animation and they consider themselves to have much bigger fish to fry than give their Godzilla titles any attention. One of the reasons War of the Gargantuas and Rodan were hastily put on a two disc set was because they knew they had the rights and simply wanted to get them out there and be done with it.
Godzilla Raids Again, Mothra vs. Godzilla, Ghidorah: The Three Headed Monster, Invasion of Astro-Monster, All Monsters Attack and Terror of MechaGodzilla are under Dreamworks Animation and, infuriatingly enough, they don't want to foot the bill for HD transfers to put these movies on Blu-ray. A massive, fan built, letter writing movement needs to be launched if there is any hope of getting them on Blu-ray.
Son of Godzilla and Godzilla vs. MechaGodzilla are still in limbo with no US distributor. Last year when The Return of Godzilla was released, Kraken Releasing hinted that they might be getting more Godzilla films--Or at least more kaiju movies. Many fans guessed these two titles were the ones being alluded to (since they're the only ones up for grabs), but there's been no movement/announcement from Kraken Releasing since then.
Universal owns King Kong vs. Godzilla in perpetuity and have never shown interest in buying the Japanese cut from Toho. I can confirm Toho is salty about their naivety with the deal back in 1963 and would probably charge an arm and a leg for it anyway. My one hope is that maybe, just maybe, Universal and Toho are able to work something out in honor of the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong in 2020.

MemberMothra LarvaeMay-18-2017 9:56 PMHey yo, any news on godzilla vs biollante, I am kinda worried that I won't have enough time to get my hands on those movies, so are they out of print or still in print? Also what website do you go to to get these news, if you don't mind me asking.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaMay-18-2017 10:23 PMGorozilla,
If there's an inflation in price it normally means that there either isn't much stock left from the distributor or that it's out of print. Right now the Blu-ray Godzilla vs. Biollante is seeing some major inflation and is nearly $50. I'd get it now before it inflates any further. The DVD, however, looks okay at a current $18.99.

MemberBaragonJul-14-2017 11:50 PMI know I've asked this before, but it's been a few months: any news regarding any new releases on Blu-Ray for some of the yet to be released Godzilla titles? I was hoping we'd hear about a new release or two by this summer, but perhaps there won't be any releases until Godzilla 2 comes out, so as to ride the hype train.

AdminGodzillaJan-28-2018 10:07 AMBest Buy has a listing for a new release of Godzilla '14 in March and there were rumors it might be the 4K release, but they've since taken it down.
That's the closest to any "word" we've gotten.
On another subject, this entire list needs to be heavily overhauled, now that Dreamworks Animation (Classic Media) seems to have given up their rights to Janus Films/Criterion.

The King of the Monsters
MemberBaragonJan-28-2018 10:30 AM^ I'm still not sure if Janus has acquired them or simply sub-licensed them from DreamWorks Classics like they did for their Godzilla (1954) release a while back. I remember reading in a couple of places that Classic Media supposedly acquired permanent ownership of all the kaiju films they released on DVD.
Visit Wikizilla.org, the encyclopedia of Godzilla, Gamera, King Kong, Toho monsters and more that anyone can contribute to.

G. H. (Gman)
AdminGodzillaJan-28-2018 10:49 AM^I've been wondering about that as well. I've never seen that Classic Media owns them in perpetuity, but I recall Keith Aiken giving us a time table to when Sony and Classic Media's rights expire years back. I've been scouring the Monster Zero forums to find where he had given said list, but can't seem to locate it. I'm pretty sure Classic Media had an expiration date to their license, but my fuzzy memory can't recall when.

The King of the Monsters
MemberBaragonJan-28-2018 12:11 PMI know Classic Media simply came into the rights to those films when they acquired UPA's library, but I think they did renew the license to them directly with Toho before they released the wave of DVDs in 2006. I guess in that case they must have had a deal with Toho that would eventually expire. I guess we'll find out for sure if they sub-licensed or simply acquired the films depending on whether the Criterion releases for those select films credit DreamWorks Classics or not.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-26-2018 11:34 AMHopefully now that there is less than a year there will be some new bluray (hopefully remastered) releases of the classic 70's godzilla movies or a 4K of the new one.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-30-2018 2:33 PMGoing through this list, it made me sad how much of it is now out of print and nigh impossible to find. Companies have these licenses and just won't release these movies. It sucks.
