MemberMothra LarvaeJul-27-2013 7:56 AMGodzilla is a powerful and formidable enemy to any "known" opposition. His agility and stubbornness seems to do the trick. But how should Godzilla be portrayed in the new movie?
I've grown up watching all of the old Godzilla films; and I know how Godzilla's movement has evolved throughout the years.
In the 60's and 70's, Godzilla was like a towering, martial arts expert.
In the 80's and the mid 90's, Godzilla became significantly huge and slow.
In the late millennium era, the differing timelines met somewhere in the middle and Godzilla became the monster that we commonly think of today.
Godzilla is now stronger and faster, yet he still maintains a sense of gravity and spirit. I think that deviating from this style would be a wrong decision, in my opinion.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-27-2013 3:13 PMHonestly, I personally quite enjoyed Godzilla's speed in Final Wars. The biggest thing would be for them to maintain a balance between speed and power without sacrificing one for the other. Keep in mind he is a rather large being of immense power but even with his huge size that doesn't necessarily mean he has to creep across the globe as he destroys cities or goes to battle creatures.
Ultimately it comes down to design. A bulkier form would not be able to move as fast due to the body mass, but a more lithe monster could move much faster due to not being weighed down by its bulk. I wouldn't mind seeing a bulky creature but not so bulky that he loses grace in his movements.

The past films wer men in suits. with CGI as it is now, they can use the original look and make it more like a real lifeform and less like a costume. for example, Godzilla's bulk is muscles, not fat. Imagine how that would look say using the 80s or 90s designs. You'd see the way the body really would move, with every muscle and tendon working like a real living creature would.
The comic books go this route nicely.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-27-2013 7:44 PMGodzilla is the beyond needing speed for anything...he is a mountain that topples sky scrapers without even noticing....his natural powers makes speed obsolete....sure it would look cool while in a battle with another monster I guess but,...over all,..doesn't need it....Hurricanes and tornadoes can have a forward speed of like 5 miles an hour so,...this force of nature doesn't need it either.

MemberMothra LarvaeJul-28-2013 2:19 PMPersonally I LOVED the way the Kaiju's moved in Pacific Rim, they moved how something that big would actually move, so I think Godzilla should move like the Kaiju from Pacific Rim BUT maybe a little bit faster since he is the king, but not that much faster or else it wouldn't look that great.
